  • Induction marathon: 4 weeks (3rd Sep - 1st Oct)....anyone with me?

    Hello everyone,

A long pending plan of a Vegas trip with my girlfriends have been finalized on 22nd October. I wont get to the personal details but this trip really means a lot to me and i will be meeting my friends after a year and half.

So saying that, i really have found a motivation which i can make use of to lose the much needed weight. So here's my plan:

4 weeks of Induction - starting today 3rd Sep till 1st Oct.
beyond 1st October - moving to the next phase.
Exercise - at least 5 times a week for 45 mins (as recommended in DANDR)

I want to give it all for once and not have to worry about my weight problem all the time. For years i have always eaten unhealthy and now its just a month to a complete new self. I need to do this for myself. Anyone who wants to kickstart weight loss,or has a lot of weight to lose please please join me. It isn't going to be easy but together we will make it through.

Today is day one of induction for me.

    Regards, __________________

OK. I'll do it too. I just started my induction today also and its my 3rd time to start this. Both times that I have done it I have lost but as soon as I go off I gain it back. We're going to Orlando in December so I have a little more time than you do but I wanna lose exactly double what you want to lose so that makes it alittle more even. So we both start today and go until October 1. I will have to get weighed sometime during this I can't go the whole 4 weeks without checking. I know, I know, ur not supposed to but I have to at least check once a week. Hopefully others will join us too - the more the merrier - but if not Good Luck to us!!

      Welcome to the Atkins Board.

You don't say if you know anything about how to follow Atkins correctly, so here is some information that will get you off on the right foot. The 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is the book we follow here. It would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to (www.amazon.com or www.half.com have inexpensive copies). At the top of the induction page you’ll find a condensed version of the book - (Atkins Diet Induction FAQs)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin without iron (you should get enough iron with the foods you are eating on Atkins).

Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – something for everyone.

Make a copy of this list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Thank you. I do have the book and printed the list of foods for induction so that I have them at my fingertips. Thanks for all the info.

I would like to join also. I've been in/out of induction since February and lost in the beginning - but lost my focus. I need to be motivated, so will join you in your 4 week induction. I eat 'induction friendly' most of the time anyway - just want to get back to 'true induction' and journaling...thanks for the challenge.

              Re: Induction marathon: 4 weeks (3rd Sep - 1st Oct)....anyone with me?

imagood1- Thank you so much for the support. Even i own a copy of the DANDR and that is the most precious book i want to own now

diamonds - I am so glad i found you! I think you should definitely weigh yourself at the start. So, lets do it every monday. The reason why this is important is because it will keep us motivated and will also make us aware if we are doing anything wrong. So i am gonna post my weight again on Monday. I do think checking weight every week is fair enough. The reason i chose monday is because it gives me motivation not to fall off the wagon on the weekend.

              So, this is on!

What are your exercise plans? I plan to work out 3 times this week (today-sat). Lets plan it out week by week so its shorter steps but definitely towards the goal.

Also i realize how important drinking water is. I keep a 2 liter bottle of water at my desk while at work and try to finish it before i leave. And then probably a liter after work. So, i think i am fine drinking 3 liters of water everyday. Anymore and i am afraid i might want to just stay in the bathroom and not bother getting out.

              LETS DO IT!!

              Cheers!

K, now I'm excited to be doing this instead of dreading it!!

Tania - I got weighed this morning (Thursday) since I was starting today and will get weighed every Thursday but you can do Mondays that way when you lose tons on Mondays it will motivate me to do great so I can tell you mine on Thursdays. I will definetly work out also. My son is at football a few times a week and I can walk around the track for a mile and half on those days so I'll commit to exercising 4 times a week.

So great we have a couple more joining us! 4 weeks goes really fast so we can do this!! and once we have 4 weeks in whats 4 more - then after those four we'll have 8 weeks in and the next 4 will seem like a breeze.

Very glad to have all of you to work with.

I'm totally with you all on this!!!!

I started on Tuesday but I've lost a pound already! (haven't updated my signature yet)

I have my own wedding in May and I refuse to be fat for my wedding. It's a new beginning and family to follow shortly thereafter (we've been together over 3 years) and I do NOT want to be an unhealthy mom.

I typically weigh myself every day..I know you aren't supposed to but I find that it helps keep me real and it helps me figure out what isn't working and what is. At the end of the day its my measurements that matter though, and I'll be taking those tonight for my start. I'm working out daily, alternating cardio and weights, Sunday is my day 'o rest.

I'm also drinking TONS of water and about 3 cups of my diet tea a day. I make it myself so its safe...all natural herbs that help without harming you (green tea, cinnamon, ginger, etc). Love it! Wish I could afford some acai berry powder or I'd add that too! Anything to give me a boost and help me stay healthy!

diamonds - thats great! I like the thursday and monday game plan.......i do agree 4 weeks can go really fast and if we do this honestly think how much better we are going to look in just 4 weeks!!

So, now we are a team of 4 in total. Keep going ladies!

Day 1 went pretty well until evening - bad choice at bowling alley [we get free pizza and didn't stop myself ... this will not happen again!]. Otherwise
                          breakfast - atkins shake
                          lunch - leftover steak/mushroom/onion/brussel sprouts
100+ oz of water - squats and situps

as an fyi - I'm out of town this afternoon thru Monday - so won't have access to internet. I will journal and fill you all in on Monday. Have a great Labor Day weekend! Good luck.

Bellajgw - congratulations on your engagement and welcome to the group.

I think my induction flu has kicked in, a constant mild headache.......glad its friday. I am just a bit nervous about the weekend when i tend to lose control of myself. But not this time.

barrone - Have a great weekend and stay strong. Its just 30 days. Give it whatever you have. Let us know how it was on monday when you get back.

I have created a 30 day calendar and checking it 1 day at a time. I cant wait to lose this bloody weight!!

I did really good yesterday but I feel sick today. Mild headache like you, Tania, and I am also so glad its Friday and we have a nice long 3 day holiday weekend so that'll help too. I actually gagged on breakfast today, I ate it, but didn't enjoy it at all. I'm always glad when the first 3 days are over and I start feeling better. barrnone - NO MORE PIZZA - course ya could just eat the cheese and toppings. I've done that before and enjoyed every single bite! I'm goin shopping after work today and buying loads of stuff I can eat so that I have better choices. Have a great day everyone !!
