Diamonds- Thanks for the tip about the hot dogs-- I'll definitely look for them.

Tania- I will be obsessive after the "cheat" day.

Do you guys suggest I also extend my induction by a day because of this cheat day? I'll probably extend it anyway as I've read that it is recommended to extend induction until one loses half of the weight needed to get to goal. I really doubt I'll lost 20 lbs. in the next week...

Laura - I think 'you' need to determine how long you stay on induction. I think it depends on many factors...how you're doing, are you comfortable with the plan, still losing, etc...are you ready to add more veggie carbs?

I've been on extended induction for months, only because I am very comfortable here. I know that I should go to OWL, but just haven't made the move.

good luck on whatever you chose!

I am down 2 lbs.Its almost a joke.......why is it so hard for me to lose the weight? Maybe i should revise my calorie content. My body is being too metabolically resistant. I am kinda feeling low......coz i have to go to Vegas on 22nd Oct and i wanted to get down to at least 155 lbs by then. Dont know if thats possible

tania - 2lbs is something! Be patient and just stick to the plan, don't get frustrated, you still have 5 weeks until your vegas trip...at 2 lbs per week, you would be at your goal of 155, correct? You can do it!

              Re: Induction marathon: 4 weeks (3rd Sep - 1st Oct)....anyone with me?

Tania, don't be discouraged. The body goes through loss periods and stagnant periods. My body likes to get me all excited (like my first two weeks were I lost 10 pounds) and now suddenly its stopped and reversed and my scale claims I've gained 2 pounds. I'm not letting it get to me (much) and you shouldn't let it get to you.

The body knows what is best for it and may just need some time to readjust.

Give it the time it needs. If you start restricting calories your body will think its going into starvation and will HOLD onto everything! Why not try eating plainly, less sodium, and more water for a while and see what happens?

You'll be fine! Trust in it! We're here for you!

                Re: Induction marathon: 4 weeks (3rd Sep - 1st Oct)....anyone with me?

tania- 2 pounds is good. on other diets there are weeks when we'd be thrilled with a pound because sometimes you'd only get .5 or some goofy amount like that. Even if you lose 2 a week from now until you leave you'll have ten more off plus the 2 this week and last week - you'll have 14 pounds off. I just bought a 10 pound bag of dog food this weekend and believe me its huge so if that much came off of you thats great!
I had a hard time this weekend. Everyone was dying for snacks (I haven't been buying many this past couple weeks - misery loves company and if I can't eat them then neither can they!! ) so my husband went and bought a tub of chocolate chip cookie dough and made a big batch of cookies. I wanted one sooooo bad but the only reason and I mean the ONLY reason I didn't have one was because after harassin you guys for having alcohol last week I would have been a hypocrite if I then sat down with a big chewy chocolate cookie! so I looked at them all weekend, I smelled them, I even went so far as to open the container and look at them but I just kept thinking of how I'd have to come back here with my head down and admit that yes, I ate a cookie and do the walk of shame

Hahahaha, Barrone, I feel your pain hun! Had a similar weekend myself. My sweety bakes a lot and even though we are both on Atkins she still bakes for work so we have a house filled with chocolate chips of all flavors, sugar, etc. This weekend I was craving sugar BAD and even went so far as to open one of the dark chocolate chip jars and inhale but did not eat.

                    We all have our moments.

diamonds and bella - don't know how you do it with baking going on - good thing my hubby doesn't bake [but he does drink beer - and there's my weakness]

I did avoid a lot of food this weekend, my mom's 75th bday party and a bridal shower. I just eat before I go, so I'm not hungry or tempted while I'm there...worked well.

I'm really sticking to plan this week, I'm just dying to get to the 230 mark - that would really make me happy!

So - here's to a good week! Let's all try to stay away from these...

You guys [and this site] have really helped me get back on track and motivated, thanks!

I agree - this site helps me too. I remember this diet as getting easier as it goes and for some reason for me this past weekend was way harder than the one before. I'm sick of salads too. I've been eating one every day for the past week and now I could gag thinking about it. I need to add something good to it to glam it up a bit. Maybe some grilled chicken or something like that. I made breaded chicken and baked potatoes yesterday for dinner but since I can't have that I stir fried mine with frozen spinach. It was really good. I think having a variety really helps.
tania - it wasn't self control it was guilt - believe me - pure guilt!!

I get tired of salads too, even tho I love them. Today, I put taco meat, black olives, shredded cheese and onion on a big plate of lettuce. Then mixed a tomato with avocado and mayo - and used as dressing! Very good.

Barrnone- You made my mouth water with your South American-ish meal!!! Yum.

Diamonds- Once you move up your rungs, you can eat low carb cookies

Tania- I TOTALLY feel ya. But, we're women, so our scale is going to have strange readings. I can only liken this to dating. I know this sounds strange, but stay with me... when I was started dating again (about 4 and 1/2 years ago) I told myself that I HAD to go out with losers because there's only one real "one" for me. If there's only ONE true love for me, then how could ALL the men I dated be great? There HAD to be some duds... I would even psych myself up before dates, actually telling myself that the guy I was about to go out with is probably not the love of my life but to try and have a nice time anyway. It's really just a numbers game. See, if I gave up after the first 2 dorks, I never would've gone on to meet my now-fiance. It's the same way with weight loss-- if you EXPECT an average weight loss, you'll be happy when you see that you actually lost two pounds in one week, because that's a good loss. Also, remember that losing weight doesn't always happen like clockwork. In other words, you could lose 7 pounds next week, but if you get discouraged and don't stick it out you obviously won't see that great loss the following week-- you'll be in some sugar-induced stupor watching The Biggest Loser and wishing you looked like the "after" shots. So, stick it out and don't use this week as a firm barometer for what's to come Hope this helps.

Almost forgot to respond to your other question. Yes, I noticed we are similar height and body weight, too!!!

I'm hoping to have lost 20 lbs by the wedding. I'll be happy with 15, though.

Height and weight are not the only factors though. For instance, my arms and calves are very skinny, but I gain in my tummy and thigh/butt areas. Plus, I'm chesty, and ironically, that's one reason I've been putting off losing weight. Whenever I get down to the weight I want to be my boobs get more saggy. Ugh! I guess I have to pick my poison. Bigger boobs or smaller butt? hahahaha

Thanks LauraMG - This was so helpful! I am totally gonna stick it out. Started exercising again. I am hoping to be 150 lbs by 22nd Oct. Maybe its a bit too optimistic but i will be happy and take 155lbs.

I liked your comment abt the biggest loser 'after' pics......ha ha ha.
