    Guys,

i must ask another question? What do u think about eating McDonald's egg, sausage and cheese muffin (without the muffin of course). Would that be ok to eat? How many carbs should we count?

snacking - sometimes I just throw some meat [like a chicken breast or small hamburger] on the foreman and eat that with mayo. Or, olives, fresh veggies, cheese/sausage. But, I really don't snack much any more.

I think it would be wise to skip McDs altogether!

        Re: Induction marathon: 4 weeks (3rd Sep - 1st Oct)....anyone with me?

i guess if you don't eat the muffin its probably ok but its all fried in that nasty grease so i'd say only rarely would I eat it. Even without being on a diet I try to steer clear of anything fried, not that I always succeeded but I said - tried, so that leaves me a loophole. I don't snack much either anymore. I broke down yesterday and ate the cookies I did soooo good over the weekend not eating.: I actually did it got it out of my system and had a great rest of the night without that being in the back of my mind. I know, I know I should never have even touched it but it was like that constant stress of knowing they were there and was driving me to the brink of insanity . I wish I hadn't eaten any but I did and didn't let it ruin the rest of my night. I normally would say oh well, I blew it and then let the rest of the night be a total wash with anything else I wanted that wasn't on any portion of this diet, but I just had some stir fry chicken and spinach after that and nothing else and for breakfast I just brought a couple celery sticks. ohh, yea, and I did go out and walk a mile and a half after that.
I'm anxious to get weighed this week. I hope I didn't blow it completely and still lost something. I was aiming for 5 this week but we'll see - if I don't get it I have no one to blame but myself !!

Oh, Diamonds, not the cookies! Well, I applaud you for not letting it destroy your night! I know that in previous attempts that would have done me in for the night and I'd have polished them off, and mayne ruined the next day too.

Don't think of it again and just keep plodding forward Good luck with your 5 pounds, I hope you reach it! I'll be happy to break through this stall I'm in. I was down to 228 and I went back up to 230 on Saturday and now I'm stuck at 229 for the last 4 days. URG!

Hi guys! Can I join? (I'm one of those people who when I really commit to something, gets obsessed by it and likes to talk talk talk about it, so a chatty thread is just what I need

I just started recently and am very happy with the foods so far. I guess some fruit would be nice but I could probably eat an induction diet forever - I have never really been keen on bread or potatoes and the best part of pasta is the cheese and sauce anyway!

Tania, I try to plan snacks into my daily menu on FitDay, so I will enter in some sugar free pickles (and subtract it from my salad allowance) and some cheese to have for a snack, and then I know how many carbs and veg I have leftover to work with for my meals that day. If I don't want the snack, fine - less carbs for the day - but I find having the option to eat a few carbs as a snack is helpful.

I would lay off McD's for sure. To me, "whole, fresh foods" means no processed stuff, be it bars or fast food - but that's me!

Umm, we're buying a scale today. This has always been a Scale Free Zone, so my guess that I weight 165 is just a guess. I'm pretty terrified to find out what I really weigh!

I guess i will stay out from McDonalds. The reason i had it coz i went to the gym at the crack of the dawn and needed to eat something before getting to work. And that was the only 'legal' thing i could find. I need to be well prepared next time to pack my breakfast the day before.

Great job diamonds for not letting one thing spoil the night. So proud of u. Wishing you all the best for your 5 lb weight loss.

Darlingbri- Welcome to the group and thanks for the information on snacks. Wish you all the best for your weigh in.

Debber - Welcome to the group! You are a great motivation. 8 days and 11 lbs........congratulations!

welcome bri - wish I could say I never liked bread or potatoes etc...
yep bella - the cookies! whoda thought something so small could cause such chaos.
thanks tania - 5 might be pushing it since I wasn't perfect this week but I have only had celery and grilled chicken today so I just need to figure out something for dinner - probably a salad - and then get thru tomorrow and I'll see. I should probably get my butt out there and do the walking again tonite but we'll see how the rest of the day goes. everyone seems to really be doing good. I'm glad you start this tania, great idea!!

DUDE. I bought a scale. I now have an official starting weight of:

                      186.4 FLIPPIN' POUNDS.

I have been laughing for the last ten minutes. Laughing. I genuinely had no idea. I think I'm in shock!

ya but Bri the good news is the more you weigh the more you lose so since you weigh 20 pounds more than you thought you'll just lose that much more the first few weeks so its actually better that you weigh more !!! now that your completely confused...

                          Speaking of frustration...

You will NOT believe my ordeal with the scale!

Okay... I went to the gym last night (my development offers a free one) and I was sooo excited to weigh in because I could tell I've lost a good amount (my jeans are a size smaller, my neck has no puffiness, my tummy is about 20% flatter, etc.) and they freaking threw away the old scale!!! Not only does the new scale say I'm heavier than the last reading on the old scale (the readings the old scale gave were low), which is physically impossible, but I'm really only upset because I just wanted to see how much I've lost since the last weigh-in-- I don't care if the old scale said I weighed 300, at least I could compare this week to last.

Ugh! After I got home I replaced the batteries in my own scale (they were dead for a month and that's why I didn't weight myself on it in the first place) and I was a pound lower than the gym. When I woke up this morning, I was 4 pounds lower than the one at the gym.

Here's the lesson folks: Use the same scale every time you weigh-in and, preferably, use the one at your house!!!

I think this means I need to revise my "starting weight" to reflect what I think I've lost, and I'm guessing it's about 5-7 pounds. Although, I lost 3 pounds overnight according to my home scale, which I made sure was on the same surface.

Hope this post helps you all

Laura, that is really annoying about the scale. I would have thrown something - a show or a fit or both. Your "home scale" tip seems totally right to me, and I would absolutely adjust your starting weight. I mean, it's about tracking progress to your goal, and if you're losing, you're making progress. The goal and movement towards it is the critical bit.

Tania, you get a million points for going to the gym. I am so impressed by people who do that. I'm vaguely planning to get there at some point but right now I am just working on walking regularly.

Debber that is an AWESOME loss! You're halfway to goal already

Diamonds, cookies are like Satan's snack food - seductive, evil little buggers! I was at the grocery store and ALL I COULD SEE was doughnuts and icecream, arrrgh!

                              I bought salmon and snowpeas
