I've stayed at or below 5-10 carbs for three months, and just stuck with it! Avoid the 'sugarless' candies and ice creams, and stick only to proteins, fats, and the salads the book recommends!

Do you have the Atkins book?

I have a lot more weight to lose, so you'll continue to see me around!

How long have you been doing Atkins?

BTW, goth rules! (former Tacoma batcaver here)

EDITED TO ADD in February: I am now eating more carbs per day, but still remain under 20. I do count calories in order to ensure greatest bang for my carbo buck.

Wanna look good like I used to beofre my last kid, ya know? 2 years from now, the cruise is going to europe...go to all the goth clubs and stay in a castle. pretty kool. Thanks BTW. What did you eat to keep it less than 10 carbs? No I HAD the book...someone jacked in when we lived in a shelter. Go figure. Now all I have is the Cookbook. So, I guess I am kinda wingin it.

                Hey, Big loser!

Isn't it great that losers are winners on Atkins?

I have a lot more weight to go, but I'm getting there! I'm going to try cutting down on the yeasty things and see if I can't lose even more weight before January.

My goal is to lose 75 by January. I know I can do it! It's just 15 more pounds! We can do this, girl. I just know it!

Come over to the Women's board or to the century club (if you've got a lot to lose) and hang out with us! I'm a newbie, too, but I'm so excited and everyone here is so friendly, I have been here more than I had originally intended.

Gothgirl-- That sounds like fun! Can I hide in your steamer trunk? {{{Goth}}} *mosh mosh* (A little 90's batcave humor there) Glad to see you here! I hope you stick around! I miss chatting goth with people. I'm an old woman at 34 now. :joy

                  Great idea

                  Cleo,

I like your comment about smelling the aroma, I thought of your message this morning when donuts were delivered to my office. I took the time to smell the aroma and it worked enough to satisfy me.

Thanks for the handy idea!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clapping

Thanks, Nicholet, and good for you! I just realized not that long ago that so much seems to be linked to scent! I sniff a croissant here, some pizza there. Yesterday I sniffed the peanut butter cookies I made and was satisfied! The day before Halloween I was busy filling my nostrils with the scent of Snicker bars.

The smell is so gratifying that I am not even tempted to eat it (or even just lick it *lol*) :joy

I'm glad you tried this and it worked for you!

I know it sounds so weird, but it really has been the saving grace for me this time around.

I guess that's aroma therapy for us Atkins people!

Just a quick note- if your weight loss does not happen this quickly, try not to get too frustrated! Everyone's body is different and how you'll react to this diet is different. Keep at it. Keep eating like you know you should. Keep exercising. Keep thinking positively. Keep planning for success.

Never ever give up- keep fighting and keep working hard- even if you only lose a pound every few weeks, that's 26 pounds in a year that you'll have lost and, if you're like me, at least 20 that you would not have gained.

Congrats to cleo-- -that's awesome! But to the others, carpe protein!

I would like to announce that I've now lost 65 pounds since August 20th of this year!

I agree with Marin. My weight loss is probably not common loss. If you look to my starting weight, you'll see that a chunky diva like me has a lot more to lose than someone half my starting weight!

Stick to the program. Be good. Drink your water. Read your DANDR. Continue to take time to sniff a donut... just don't lick it.

                          I only started exercising, too.

                          I am just jazzed!

I haven't lost this much this fast since phen-fen! Atkins is the best! :joy

Would you please be so kind and share how you stayed below 10 carbs a day, and what if any side effects you had (breath, saggy sking, etc.)
