Re: What are your spouses/partners/friends saying?

Honestly? No one has said much of anything but that's okay. My MIL noticed my loss when I was down 10lbs but she's the only one. The last time I lost a significant amount of weight, I had lost 30lbs before anyone noticed.

I keep waiting for my husband to say something, but so far, nada. I don't mind too much, though. This man of mine knew me when I was 120lbs and to this day, still tells me I am sexy as ****.

      I LOVE this thread!

No matter who says what... OR neglects to say whatever...

WE are doing this for us. That what I have taken away from this thread.

We are doing it for ourselves. As long as we keep that in mind, everything else is just secondary.

I've lost 13 lbs and no one has said a word. Only my hubby but thats because I always tell him about my stalls and loses. His motivation keeps me going, that and the way my clothes tell me that I'm losing!

Re: What are your spouses/partners/friends saying?

It took 20lbs before people noticed I lost weight. My husband can't really tell, but he knows I'm happy that I can fit into my clothes again.

Some friends haven't said a word. One in particular hasn't seemed to notice because she gained with me, and hasn't lost anything, so she doesn't comment on my weight loss.

People at work have been noticing. People have been asking me what have I been doing, and I have gotten a few compliments. No one else has really seen me yet so they don't know.

I wear scrubs to work, so nobody has really noticed yet. and my fiance says i look nice all the time, but hasnt really said anything spacifically about my size/weight ...

Iv really only lost 10-15 lbs though.. so i probably need to wait a little longer for people to notice..

I am going to see some family this Halloween that i havent seen since july .. so we will see if anyone notices?

On your frame I am shocked no one noticed. At my weight, I wouldn't expect them to. However, at some point everyone will notice. Be sure of that! Usually when people don't see us they notice, right? So please report back! lol

Ohhh. The friend who isn't noticing is totally noticing! Try not to get bad feelings about it. After all, she is the one feeling envious while you appreciate your successs. She will come around and jump on the bandwagon.

Re: What are your spouses/partners/friends saying?

Well, right now I'm back up almost to my original starting weight, but the FIRST time I lost a lot and went down to 150, the reaction I got from customers at work was the best thing EVER!!!

I had a regular (I'm a waitress) who was a sleaseball and used to say really vulgar stuff when I was fat and stuff like "I bet you let guys do ***** (vulgarity removed) just to be with you." All I could do was smile and nod and say "Do you want a refill?"

Well, they were painters, and they weren't working in the area of our store when I went from 180ish to 150ish, and when they came back the guy stopped dead in his tracks mouth hit the floor and said very slowly, "Wooooooow. Is that you? Are you the same girl I use to get in here before?" I said, "Yeah, I changed a little huh?"
He said, "Wow, I think now I can actually ask you on a date!" To which I replied, "Honey, you didn't have a chance 50 lbs. ago either."

                  That was my glory moment.

But, other than him, I had a lot of NICE regulars, say things all the time like "Wow, you are MELTING." and "You are shrinking!" and "What have you been doing lately? You're getting so small!" I replied to that one, proudly, "Atkins actually." And he said, "Oh okay,I used to do that actually, so... you must be pooping a LOT huh?" I laughed, half shocked he would even say that to a waitress, let alone in front of all his co-workers at lunch, and I said, "Actually, no... But, it's still coming off anyway?" It was still funny... and ackward I guess...

But, that's that kind of stuff I'm looking forward to again

The memory of those reactions are SO inspiring, and I hope you all have your own glory moments!!!!

Re: What are your spouses/partners/friends saying?

My husband is a gem. He is one of those people who can devour ANYTHING and never gain an ounce. He has loved me at 253 and at 126 and everywhere in between. He will compliment the way i lok in an outfit, but if I ask about my body speifically he'll always tell me "I love YOU and that has nothing to do with size" He raves to other people though about Atkins. He LOVES me doing this WOE. In the past when i would do WW or something restrictive he would see me fasting, conserving, and binging (even if it was "allowable" foods) he saw me in frustration from hunger and locked in ugly battles with cravings. He loves sitting down with me to a nice serving of protien and a decked out salad every night. He loves making his famous buffalo chicken wings (100% induction friendly) and putting on a hockey game and munching with me. The best thing is HE is happy WITH me.

My family: Until 30 days ago we lived out of state. Since we moved back and I getting a lot of pressure to give up the WOE from my inlaws side. The see atkins as "unsafe" "unhealthy" (FIL just went through a heart surgury and he is in cardiac rehab working with a nutritionist and PT). They think I'm "too skinny" now (I have 11lbs to goal). FIL and MIL even cornered me at a resteraunt two weeks ago wanting to know my weight, goals, ect.... it was weird. Theya re convinced you should never eat more than 3oz of meat in a sitting - so i am freaking them out with that AND the full fat concept. My side of the family is cool with it. My borther and future SIL actually got the book and started Atkins this month b/c they were inspired and they are loving it too. My mom is sort of trying low carb living - but she cheats all the time and then can't figure out why it's not working (DUH).

My friends: LOVE and Support me - they are the best and I know they are true friends!

                    Strangers:
I got checked out the other day (hehehehehe secretly kind of enjoyed that )

Myself: I have good days and bad. On a good one i am generally satified with my body and proud of what i have accomplished. The others (and there are too many) I still feel very fat. Sometimes i think about "splurging" but fear of cravings and lack of control again seems pointless and scary and keeps me honest. I find that at those times I am usually tired and exhausted from the kids. The nights where i wish someone would jsut fix me a steak and salad and say "here eat" and I didn't have to think or work at it.

Re: What are your spouses/partners/friends saying?

I was reviewing this story to see how things were with others and have decided to not tell anyone I am dieting - Unfortunantly I have low self esteme (sp?) - Anyways I would hate to think people are telling me I am looking good just because even though I have not changed like the last time I dieted - So by doing it this way I know if someone tells me I am looking good or if someone asks hey have u lost weight then I will know its honest and sincere

I do have a few questions - I am going to start this tomorrow

I can cut out the soda no problem unfortunantly I have an addiction to caffeine and seriously I have tried before and I go into sweats and throwing up and migraines to the point I literally can not function - Which right now it is not possible for me to do that as I do have my 3 year old at home with me and I can not make myself sick for several days
However I have found by cutting Excedrin in 1/2 that I can take 1/2 a tablet which will have about 30mg of caffeine and that prevents me from getting sick without the soda - Would this be ok til I can ween myself back from the excedrin all together or does caffeine stall the progress of this diet - I just dont want to take in all the extra fats and meats if caffeine will hold me back

I have one of those familie that we're all oveweight, but my mom is super critical - she'll never tell you if you've lost weight, but gain 1/2 a pound and she is all over it. I've lost over 30 pound and she hasn't said a word. My dad noticed, and that was really awesome. But for the most part I only see people that I see on a daily or regular basis, so I don't hear it very often. But I know I have lost it, and that's all that matters. As for what diet I'm doing, I get the regular "that diet killed the guy who invented it". At that point I roll my eyes and change the conversation.

i dont really tell people how i am trying to lose the weight. i do mention all the pushups that i do......at work, to friends and family etc. my wife, i love her........but she likes to cook and all of a sudden i see four little cups of pistachio pudding in the fridge supposedly, 'made with low fat milk'. doesnt matter though, i can't have that. and then also last night she baked some kind of bread or something....cant have that either. my house is filled with foods that i should not have....and i don't. but it does make it a little harder.
