Salt is okay as long. But too much salt might cause you to retain water, so to avoid that, don't eat too many servings of salty foods.

Cheese is limited during Induction. So the amount of salt you will be eating isn't that great, because you can't eat 6 ounces of cheese during Induction. Smoked salmon might contain sugar, so you have to be aware of that because we are to avoid foods with added sugars.

Personally, I limit processed foods to 1 serving a day due to their salt content and other preservatives and I never go above the cheese limit.

Re: What can you eat on induction? Wallet-sized list!

ABSOLUTELY NO bars, shakes, or any other packaged "low carb" products.

Stick to natural foods that you prepare yourself. Veggies, meats, eggs, cheeses, etc.

In the beginning, you may have a hard time figuring out what to grab and take with you when you have to go out. Let me tell you what's in my fridge right now, for me to grab and go with during the week:

              - tupperware containers containin 2 devilled eggs each
              - ziplock baggies with 12 black olives each
              - a couple of tupperware containers with small servings of artichoke hearts in oil and vinegar
              - ziplock baggies with an ounce of cheese each (cheddar, jack, swiss, etc)
              - ziplock baggies of broccoli (raw) with a tupperware container of blue cheese dressing to dip them in
              - ziplock baggies of chicken drumsticks

That's just my "grab and go" food. I also prepare cassrole-type dishes that I can take for lunch or heat for dinner.

              Hope this helps!

Re: What can you eat on induction? Wallet-sized list!

If you are hungry then EAT
But make sure you are eating something on the acceptable foods list - preferably a high fat medium protein snack.

When we start induction we need to teach our bodies that this is not a 'diet' but a way of eating (woe) and that if we are hungry we are allowed to eat.

Eventually when your body knows it is not going to be deprived of yummy foods our appetites usually diminish and perhaps then you will be posting that you are worried you are not eating enough food .

But sometimes we mistakenly think we are hungry when in fact we are thirsty - apparently the two feelings are similar or made in close-together areas of the brain - so if you suspect this may be the case (as you ate recently perhaps) have a drink of water and see if the hunger goes away.
If not then have another drink of water and wait 15 minutes or so. If you STILL feel hungry than eat one of your prepared snacks if it isnt really time for a proper meal.

but once you feel not hungry than stop eating and put the leftover food back in the fridge for later - dont ever 'finish the plate' and end up feeling 'stuffed' when you no longer feel hungry .
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

The list is here on the thread, lori.

If you ricght click the image and hit "copy", you can paste the list into Word and then print it. That's what works best for me.

Though having two copies is even better because I give a lot of them out.

Thank you for sharing this. I have been on Atkins for 1 week and have lost 3 lbs. That's not much, but is a very big deal for me. I will definitely be printing this out to take with me!
