  • Day two and will make it through

    I am sitting here eating pork rinds and drinking water. It is my second day, I have a headache and want to do nothing more that run downstairs and eat bread. According to the book and to posts, I should not feel so bad on the third day. Is that the case with most folks?

    You can do it! Yes, it will get better, probably by tommorow. My first or second day I say on the couch and thought for 2 hours about how I would just like to get up and go eat some cookie dough. But I didn't do it...and you won't either!! Just think...if you cheat now, you'll have to start all over and go through feeling crappy all over again.

    By day 3, I was feeling really energetic with just a slight headache in the afternoon (probably from caffeine withdrawal).

    Anyway, when you feel like eating, just stop in and we'll talk you through it! You can make it!!

      it will depend on your metabolism and your body and what all you had to detox from my caffiene withdrawal headache lasted 3 days. hang in ther you are going to be amazed at how good you are going to feel soon.

      Now are you eating those pork rinds cause you are hungry or jusdt cause you thought they were legal snack food? rememeber junk food id junk food low carb or not and we only eat wehn we are hungry not just cause it is low carb and we got room in our bellies. feed the hunger and you will be an Atkins succesful loser.

        Good Luck! I started on Friday, and weighed myself on Monday morning and I was down 4 lbs. Whooo. This thing is awesome...except, I hate the comments I get from people that know I'm on Atkins. They think it's overkill with the fats and proteins that I get.

        By the way, where can I get pork rinds at?

            Well, wonders, I made it through and starting day 3. I am thrilled to say that 5 pounds have made an exit!!!!

              Hi lori, There are going to be many instances where carbs call to you, unfortunately, then it comes down to a mind fight so to speak. And you handled it beautifully. You knew what was happening and you came to find support and something to distract you. Perhaps you could also figure out why you wanted to eat and it might help you recognize an emotion to identify and perhaps make some alternative ideas instead of food you can deal with it with. If that makes sense.


              I am sooo glad day two is over for you and your scale is showing you that your persistence and determination to get through it was worth it.

              Sometimes you have to fight yourself to win in the long run. If you can win the battles, you will win the war!!!

                Hi Ian, we are on exactly the same day..this is my day 3 too..and today I feel nauseous...(sp) but I'm 8lbs down already! yippeeeeeee......are you going to use ketostix? I am not showing ketones yet...which I didn't expect to this early in the game.

                  Pork rinds are usually by the chips, you have to search for them!!!

                  For me, day three is the worst--I feel like I've been swallowed up, chewed up, and spit out. Keep going though, energy and well-being is right around the corner.

                    Hi All, Made it through today so far though I think if I drink anymore water my kidneys will go on strike. I just finished half a steak and a salad and feel satisfied though my head is hurting.

                    I have not got the sticks yet. I tend to be obsessive and will go through a whole dang bottle in a couple of days.

                    I do notice I crave sugar after meals even though my stomache is full. Can anyone shed some light?

                        Congrats on deciding to do this diet!
                        I also get some negative comments, but when I tell people what I ACTUALLY eat, they wonder why they though Atkins was bad. People go this media hyped image of all us Atkiners bent over a lard pot congratulating eachother on how much weigh we'll lose. So not true.

                        I, too, was very sick the first 2 weeks. I honestly couldn't decide if it was Atkins flu or the REAL flu! But I went from drinking a case of Diet Pepsi a day to one per week, and WHEW! I feel so good! I know you might roll your eyes when you hear someone tell you how great your gonna feel but, You'll know soon enough. I've never exercised so much in my life and I LIKE IT! I almost wanna wash my mouth out with soup for saying it, because the OLD me would never have.. but it's true!

                        I used to feel swollen and stiff after trying to exercise! I even had my feet go numb and my claves get so hard are stiff I could barely move, after just trying to walk slowly on a treadmill!!

                        So keep at it, and don't forget to exercise! And that doesn't mean trying to climb 40 flights in one day.. 30 minutes of getting your heart rate up a little and EASEING into it.. and in no time you'll be trying to find ways to make it HARDER! HONEST!

                          Hi Ianmaam, how are you doing today on day 4 now...day four brought me the headache today...ugh..I didn't think I would get it since I was on induction and only went off for two days..but I guess it's really about starting from scratch...I'm tired today too...so how are you feeling, lets stay in touch since we are on the same day okay

                            Hey Carbkicker,

                            I am down 6 pounds but still craving bread and sugar. It is driving me nuts. I always want the carbs after I eat, even though I feel satisfied, weird huh? I am tired but hope the energy kicks in soon.

                            I know what you mean about the headaches. I have one right now, I keep drinking water hoping it will help them go away, but I am not sure if it helps.

                            What have you been eating? Are you still hungry?

                              yep I'm still hungry..most of the time! and today has been the worst with cravings...allday my head is preoccupied with carbs...argh...if you click on my fitday link in my signature you can see what I've been eating, I haven't updated it today but you can see other days, I try to be pretty diligent about posting to it...today I've only eaten roasted turkey (a must have kitchen item my mom just gave me--a counter top rostissere---it's awesome) I roasted a turkey breast yesterday yum..so today has been turkey dipped in sour cream and I'm going to have some dipped in blue cheese next, I need to eat my veggies, haven't done that yet today. today i've been really grouchy too....I'm still not in ketosis, I'm going to test later, I can never test in the morning..the stix never turn colors then but usually in the afternoon they will if I am in...I have been drinking ALOT of water though so they may not....I'm still showing a loss of 8lbs though..hooray, and congrats on the 6!!! we'll get there!!!!
