  • Week of Nov 12 Atkinites

I am posting this to see if I can get a mini group together of folks who are starting at the same time as I am. I think a little (or a lot) of moral support for each other would be great. I am on my 3rd day of induction and plan to try and make it through three weeks. I have been experiencing major withdrawl symptoms as many others have. I am a 30 year old guy who is about 60# overwheight. I am going to take a picture and put it in my sig line tonight.

Today has been by far the hardest day as the muscle cramps, severe headaches and mega cravings for some McDonalds fries are near putting me over the top. Anyone out there looking for an accountability partner, I sure am!

Sounds great! How has your first day gone so far? Hopefully we can keep each other honest and accountable. What are you planning on eating for tomorrows meals?

Re: Week of Nov 12 Atkinites

My day is pretty good. =) I had myself two chicken breasts, one for breakfast and the other for lunch, along with a salad. I just made myself a snack (tuna salad) just now, and ate that. For dinner I am going to have myself another salad along with chicken (cause that's the only thing we have right now. -.- I'll spice it up with some parmasean and garlic. Mmmmmm, delicious.)

As for tomorrow, I haven't decided yet. It's pretty hard when parents haven't bought home everything yet and I don't have the money to pay for food. But I am sure I will have some salad and meat, whether it will be a hamburger with no bun and just cheese. I don't know.

How about you? Feeling any better from the pains?

It would be nice to be honest and open with each other. Boost each other's confidence and motivate ourselves to lose those pounds. =)

I will join in. Im not doing too good on my first 3 days of induction. I have cheated all 3 days. This is going to be a lot tougher than i thought. Today i finally made it to the grocery store, and got rid of the cheatfood in my house. Tommorrow will be a new day. I am doing good on getting my challenges in though and getting my daily 64oz of water in. I definitely need some accountability getting on the eating plan. I plan on getting a current picture of me up soon.

Re: Week of Nov 12 Atkinites

This is great, you guys! Keep checking in with each other and help get each other through the first two weeks. Way to go paying it forward, ADBB style!

futurerancher--I know the induction flu sucks! BUT, once your body switches to using its own stored fat for fuel, you are going to get this surge of energy and feel fantastic! The aches and pains will go away and you'll feel like the energizer bunny.

Bekka--make sure that your chicken breasts have some sort of fat with them. Either the skin, or add some mayo or olive oil to them. Ranch dressing is good too. Nothing wrong with chicken and salads, my husband says I'm going to turn into a chicken LOL Make sure that you get some of the "other vegetables" from the list. Broccoli, cauliflower, pumpkin, something like that which will get more fiber into your system.

Todd, I'm proud of ya for getting the junk food OUT of your house. That's the best thing to do. Otherwise, it's too tempting. I see you stopped smoking on 11/5. Congratulations!!! I am an ex-smoker too. I quit in July 2006. Best thing I ever did for myself besides losing weight. You're past the biggest hurdle now. There are a lot of articles out there to help you maintain your quit. I used www.whyquit.com

The sugar cravings are probably going to be your nemesis for a little while though. Which is probably why you've been cheating every day lately. I found out that evidently, there is a chemical in the cigs that causes your liver to release glucose into the blood stream every time you smoke. So, when you stop smoking, you get these sugar cravings. The body is looking for the glucose it was getting when we were smoking! When I found that out, it sorta ticked me off! Anyway....I didn't know about this at the time...but go to a GNC or place that sells body building stuff. Get a bottle of the powdered version of L-Glutamine. L-Glutamine is an amino acid that Dr. Atkins recommended for sugar cravings! Take the L-Glutamine daily in some sort of beverage. 1 heaping teaspoon is about 5 grams. You want to take about 5 grams a day.

I need an accountable partner ... I don't think I did as good as I thought I did. I have been what I though as induction for 6 weeks. But after reading the forum I think tomorow will be the start all over day.

Thanks for the tips. =) And yes, I did have my olive oil with my chicken, how else would I be able to make it nice and crispy and good? As for the veggies, it's a bit hard cause I don't like broccoli, cauliflower, and pumpkin. I know there are others on the list and I try my best to eat those. =) I'll check in with you guys tomorrow. I'm uberly tired and I need sleep. And it's only 8. Gaaah.

Fitday can be tedious but use it everyday and without it I would have no idea what my percentages and counts are. Now I enter daily without even thinking about it...trust me, it gets to be a good habit!

Good luck with quitting smoking too! I have never smoked but my Dad did for years and he only quit when he found out he had throat cancer. He's alright now but his treatment was very painful and the sooner you can quit the better!

Goodmorning! How are you guys doing this lovely day? Rancher, I hope your muscle pains are gone! Those are uberly evil. You could always rely on some Ibuprofen to help you relieve the pain for a little while. Just don't get addicted to them, we don't want any stomach ulcers here, that would be way bad.

I haven't gotten anything to eat today, but that's because I have 4 types of medicine I have to take in the morning and 2 of them require me to not eat until an hour later. It's a major witch because I don't have the time in the morning to prepare anything for myself, especially with having school and starting work at almost around the same time every day. =( But, today I will grab myself two double cheeseburgers plain wrapped with lettuce and eat them along the way to class.

Tonight, on the other hand, will be tough. I have a cooking class and we have to cook different meals from different countries and I the thing is, I am supposed to try everything. I would love to try everything, but I don't think that will be happening. I think I will just cook my meal, label it, clean my stuff and scoot my butt out of there before I get any cravings whatsoever.

Goodluck you guys!! Drink that water and have fun with it! =) I am so rooting for you and don't get discouraged!
