    Re: Starting 02/10-02/11??

    Hi!
I started a little earlier, I hope you don't mind my joining this thread.....I started Thursday 02/07. My beginning weight was 152 and I am already down to 145. My goal is to be in the 115-120 range also. And this is like my third time around also. First time I lost 20lbs on induction and then got pregnant. My second time I only lost a couple pounds and gave up. This time its down to business for me..........though I have had a couple of scares....it seems every 48 hours my body goes into withdrawls and I start trembling, become very week, and my heart beats out of my chest. Not sure why, though I was used to eating LOTS of carbs. Anyway.......small road blocks.....nothing is stopping me this time, I already bought a new wardrobe of small clothes...motivation! My husband and I have three beautiful girls ages 6, 3 & 1. And now that we are done and there is nolonger a chance of pregnancy...It's time for me to quit looking like a child-bearer and start looking like the 25 year old I am! BTW I love the sound of that kieche....I could use some induction recipes, I am relying on eggs....chicken.....and salad....and the fried eggs are getting old, I can only take them so long, and after four days I'm ready for a new bkfst. Any ideas? Also, what do you do for sweets when you are craving?

Thanks for letting me introduce myself........
Good luck to you and good luck to me

      Re: Starting 02/10-02/11??

Hi everyone, figured I'd join this thread since I'm working on around the same goals and time frame as everyone else. This morning, I had scrambled eggs with onion, cheese, and cilantro, and half a cucumber.

I'm having a hard time getting all my carbs in because all those veggies are just too much for me. I eat my portion of meat, and my portion of veggies, but to get all the carbs in, I'd just be eating too much. I'm petite like the rest of you. 5'0" (actually 4' 11 3/4" lol) and my goal weight is around 110. If I go smaller, I'd be happy too since my weight should range between 96 and 124 lbs. At least that's military standards for my age and height.

Water is definitely not an issue for me. I'm drinking at least 5 - 16.9 oz bottles at work, and then 2 to 3 - 20 oz bottles at home. And the funny thing is, I don't feel like I'm getting enough of it. It's like I literally freak out if I don't have my water next to me. And boy, do I pee a lot!! My coworkers make fun of me.

Well, back to work! Good luck to all!

          Re: Starting 02/10-02/11??

Morning guys! Day 3 and I'm positively tired today but it has nothing to do with the diet. I had the great idea to stay awake until nearly 1am and then we had an amazing thunderstorm from about 2-4am. So when I finally fell asleep, I ended up sleeping in WAY late again - giving myself about 15 minutes to get ready AND pack meals!

So my choices today are a little on the pathetic and un-veggie-licious side: Breakfast is yet another slice of the Cheeseburger Quiche (thank goodness it holds well in the fridge for a day or two!) and lunch is some carved "ose"-free (thats what I call sugar free foods, lol, no sucrose, dextrose, etc) turkey breast.

Whats everyone doing for dinner? I should check out the dinner thread. I do have a spaghetti squash and was contemplating turning that into the Spaghetti Squash/Alfredo thingy-ma-bob that but if I'm as lazy later as I am right now, it looks like me and the hubby will be dining on the ever creative bunless burger and some steamed veggies. LOL.

I'm with Kristi somewhat because I'm not a huge fan of a lot of vegetables and I'm a pretty poor cook, so it can make for a bad combo. But I'm trying to keep that "try something new" attitude you find everywhere on this board, especially because it is so important. I think we're going to pick up some asparagus and zuchinni or cucumber next time we're at the store. I want to dice up the cucumber and mix it into some tuna with mayo - it makes for a nummy mix to top onto a bed of lettuce.

Hrmm.. breakfast ideas. I'd say eggs can get old fast so the key is variety. You can think outside the box and use things like dinner for breakfast, etc. My first go around I often had a fake taco (taco meat, cheese, lettuce shredded, etc in a bowl) in the mornings. But here's how I vary my egg-based breakfasts:

          Egg Ideas
          01. Hardboiled eggs with bacon strips
          02. Scrambled eggs with a sprinkle of cheese and some sausage links (check those labels!)
          03. Cheeseburger Quiche slice
          04. Quiche cups (I want to do these, haven't yet, gonna go buy a muffin pan soon so I can grab these on the go)
          05. Omelet with endless possibilities (veggies, or cheese, or meat)
          06. Open Omelet/Egg-Pizza (I let it fry into the tiny pan circle shape and then top it with cheese and meat)
          07. Deviled eggs (mix the yolk with a bit of mayo and sprinkle with paprika)

Here's how I get around big sugar cravings:
          01. Celestial Seasonings brand (only! the others are gross) herbal teas: Blueberry, Strawberry Kiwi, Tangerine Orange or Raspberry
          02. The occassional cup of coffee with 1 tbsp heavy cream and 1 tbsp Coffeemate Sugar-Free French Vanilla creamer

I've also seen folks whip some baking cocoa, heavy cream and Splenda packets to make a mini portion of chocolate mousse - but I can't vouch if thats Induction friendly but I'm sure someone here could!

Oh! And even though its only Day 3 and I promised myself I wouldn't hop on the scale until at least Day 7, I found myself standing on it this morning out of plain curiousity and its down 3.6 lbs!!! Maybe I had a HUGE bowel movement or something that I don't remember? *kidding, can you IMAGINE 3.6 lbs of poo?!* LOL - But yeah, water weight or what not, its still quite encouraging. I'm moreso excited to see what the inches say when it comes time for me to measure again.

So congrats on our progress so far, ladies! And let's keep up the support! =)

            Good Morning....Good Morning!
I too, can relate with not getting in all of my veggies.....it stems from my previous bad eating habits, I've never really been good at eating veggies. And speaking of horrible foods.....it is day 5 for me and I think my hunger is finally starting to go away, I'm sitting here looking at my breakfast bowl and I just cannot bring myself to eat it. BTW I did try something a little different this morning, and I'm sure someone might like it....microwaved (b/c its convienent) 2 eggs scrambled w/salt & pepper, diced veggies and shredded cheese. Thanks for all those breakfast ideas Brittney, I will definately be trying some! Especially the tacos....yum! For dinner tonight? I think I'll have Asparagus and cheddar cheese stuffed chicken breast and cheese topped broccoli and cauliflower. Since some of us are having some trouble with veggies...... how about we make a Tuesday Goal of trying a new "legal veggie"? And then we can post what we tried and how it turned out. Anyone up for it? It could be fun! Then tomorrow someone else can pick a Wednesday goal.....and then Thursday......and so on. I think it could be something fun to look forward to checking the forum to see what the goal is for the day.
            PLUMMER
First, make sure that you are counting each splenda packet as one carb.....I too have a problem with plain water, have you ever tried hot water? Heat it up, you may be amazed! Maybe even throw in a caffeine free tea packet. But definately try heating it up first.....I could never drink cold water either....yuk! But heat it up and....yum!

Have a great rest of the day everyone!

              Re: Starting 02/10-02/11??

Good Morning all and welcome to all the new ladies that have joined us!!! Wow Brittany 3.6 in 3 days is great! I hope I can show such progress.

Well im in day 2. Had some headaches yesterday but it wasnt too bad. I know I will have more before the week is over so im prepared. Dinner ended up being a bunless burger with swiss cheese and a cup of brocolli and cauliflower. It's funny reading all the post this morning that its about breakfast food. I was thinking the same thing this morning. I went shopping again last night for some sausages and bacon and every single one I picked up had sugar in the ingredients. Mostly less than 2 or 1% but still had a trace of it. The last time I was doing atkins I had always cooked up 2 farmer john sausage links and cracked 2 eggs over it and that was my breakfast. So not really thinking anything I bought one cuz I wanted some this morning. So as with most of you I got up late but really with no excuse but the fact that I was being lazy. I ended up making the same breakfast and looked at the stupid pkg and sure enough it has traces of sugar. WTH I thought this would be good but I was wrong. So looking at all of your post on breakfast will help me to come up with some other things to eat. Just out of curiosity is there a certain brand of cold cuts, bacon or sausage that doesnt have ose (thanks Brittney) it them?

Lunch will be cobb salad with maries blue cheese dressing. Dinner will be a steak and some steamed veggie. Snacks I have egg salad and some turkey meat to roll up some cream cheese in. I actually do like veggies and try and mix it up as much as possible. Im also good with water. I have a big 64oz jug at my desk every day that I finish before leaving and then I have about another 40oz or so at home between breakfast and dinner so I think my water intake is pretty good.

Well i better get back to work. Will check in again later. Hope everyone has a great day!!!

I figured out what my real problem is. I guess I'm just not counting right. I love veggies, I just have to figure out what to eat including my salad veggies and other veggies. I too, may cook up a spaghetti squash tonight. They are absolutely heaven! Of course that will be for tomorrow since I've already had cauliflower today. Looks like steak and romaine salad with cucumbers and and cheese for dinner tonight!

Oh and one more thing! We definitely should come up with some inventive ways to conquer the almighty sweet tooth! I'm gonna do some research when I get home from work tonight for some idears. I am really craving the chocolate...ugh. PMS sucks!!!

LOL I'm PMSY this week, too - what a GREAT week to start Induction! ;-) Oh well, it only makes us stronger!

My sweet tooth kicker is still having a cup of coffee with 1 tbsp heavycream and 1 tbsp Coffeemate SF .. or only 2 tbsp Coffeemate SF and no heavy cream.

One great thing about this diet is that I've never been so painfully aware of how many times I just STARE into the fridge or pantry everyday. LOL. I open it now, and upon realizing there isn't anything in there for me and I'm not even hungry, I close it and realize -- GEEZ! I used to just open this up, reach blindly for the first munchie that sounded good and head right back to the couch!

I started 2/9, and I'm on day 3. I'm keeping a journal and I'll get a link to that going in my signature.

Can I pleeease have the recipe to the cheeseburger quiche?? That sounds awesome.

I'm going to keep all my foods and physical symptoms and measurements in my journal, so I can focus on one spot... But I'll be back here for motivating and tips and to see how we're doing.

For exercise, I'm just doing 20 minutes of walking on my treamill, 5 days a week. It's not the most I can do, but it's what I know I have time for and can stick with. I think that's more important.

                      Stickin' to my guns....

Thats my exercise goals - things I know I can acheive, even on lazy days. I'm a big fan of walking because I'm just tired of jogging and am lazy. *admits it* LOL

Not sure if anyone likes excel spreadsheets, but thats how I track mine with formulas (link in my signature). Though I'm going to keep the food log in my journal here, I prefer to just update the excel with measurements and weights.

Cheeseburger Quiche (its in here somewhere, I didnt create this):
                        1/2 cup mayo
                        1/2 cup heavy cream
4 slices bacon cooked to crispy/crumbley
                        1 lb ground beef
                        8 oz shredded cheese
                        3 eggs
*garlic salt - I use this over onion powder etc for taste
pie container or really any shaped bakeware

                        01. Ground the 1 lb ground beef and be sure to keep it fine - no big chunks as this will be pressed into your "crust"
                        02. Mix everything else in a bowl and whip it as much as you can
                        03. Drain the ground beef as much as possible. I usually press it down with a spatula in the drainer to remove all excess.
                        04. Mix the beef with the crumbled bacon and press it into the bakeware as crust.
                        05. Top with the mixture from the bowl and spread fairly evenly.
                        06. Bake 40-45 min at 350, then allow 20 minutes to cool out of the oven.
                        07. Doesnt freeze well but lasts in the fridge 2-3 days!

                        Makes 6 slices.. 1.8 carbs a slice.

You know what? After a few days, my sweet cravings go away. I have lost 40 pounds on this and never got past induction, just did induction over every few months... (different plans this time. lol.) So, I don't know if later on I will get cravings. I think if you avoid sugar and sweeteners entirely, you won't have any cravings.

Also, you might have had Candida yeast in your digestive system... it's a parasite (well, yeast technically is, though it sounds gross) - it relies on your eating carbs to "feed" the yeast... and when you don't eat carbs, it starves the yeast. It will actually cause you to crave carbs and sugars to keep the parasite in your system alive! I was told this by a doctor.

I'm not saying you're cheating. Not even. It's just an interesting subject. Good to meet you! I started 2 days after you. Let's do it!

Its not like a journal or a blog, where comments get tucked neatly underneath and so forth (I'm an organized freak, so this drives me insane as well LOL) - the next post, regardless of where the quote is or what it pertains to, gets tucked right to the very bottom.
