It's your choice. However, you will definitely lose less in the "2nd set", because your glycogen stores are now depleted. Glycogen is stored with water, so when when your body is burning through it in the first days of Induction, it gets rid of the water too. So don't be disappointed if you don't lose another 10 lbs.

Also i bought the strips and the strip turned to highest purple on the series of colors.
How much water are you drinking? A dark color can be a sign of dehydration. It doesn't matter what color you are anyway. As long as the color changes, you're in ketosis.

I don't think that people realize that 10 pound in 10 days is an enormous amount of weight to lose in one sitting. If you had gained weight that fast, your skin would probably have ripped open.

I know I wrote this somewhere yesterday, I hope it's not in this thread. If it was here, excuse my senior moment.

So. When you lose fat, the fat cells will replace that fat with fluid, trying to keep the pressure at the surface of their cellular walls constant. However, these cells can only hold on to a certain amount of "water". When they reach their "saturation" point, the body releases a chemical that tells these fat cells to eliminate the extra fluid. When this happens, you will see a big loss on the scale. This is why we advise people to take body measurements -- the scale does not necessarily tell you how much fat you've lost. The gained/lost weight it shows can come from fat, water or muscle.

ive forgotten the point of this thread. was it worrying about a reduction in weight loss, because 15lbs i 14 days and even 10lbs in 10 lbs doesn't warrent any complaining! i'm at 15lbs and i'm on day 48. you can't obsess over every little change. its hard not to but you really need to put your scale away!

Re: Day 10 - Few problems.

My wife says i looked pregnant before, and now i look like the baby dropped and im ready for labor :P

You can see alot of difference in my gut, so far.
Im so glad i thought all those hidden sugars where messing with me.
But im not done yet , tommorow i could gain all 5lbs back.

Previsouly before these 5 days of no weight loss i had lost 12 pounds and gained 2 lbs back, then nothing happened for 5 days.
So will see tomorrow if i get some more back.

Thanks answering all my questions georgiana and listening to me whine :P

P.S I know you guys say put the scale away, but i just like seeing everyday the scale is what i look forward too.
My concern about losing weight was just ignorance on my part, in that , i did not know you could go a week or so and not lose anything and still be okay.
I think the scale could help motivate exercise on my part, but that's me.

Ted, did any of those 5 lbs return? Did you lose more? And more importantly... where are you hiding?

                        I hope so!
What if you cant eat as much as your supposed to, to not keep losing weight towards your goal ?

Like say for instance im at 50 carbs a day i lose 1 lb a week.
What if i cant eat 3 salads & veggies plus that many carbs in a day ?
Do you keep losing even when you don't want too?

Or would i do things like eat a lower carb bread to fill in some of the carbs ?
This question is way ahead of where i am right now its just something i was curious about in the future.

Also after induction are you allowed more then 3 packets of splenda a day ?
Say for instance 3 cups of coffee in the morning 3 packets.
1 can pop in the evening 3 carbs (3 sweetners)?

                        Thanks

Well, veggies should be included in those 50 net carbs. So your veggies, diary, nuts, etc. (depending on the OWL Rung/Atkins phase) should all be counted towards those 50 net carbs. In OWL, as you go up the Carbohydrate Ladder, you will add foods back into your diet and you will increase your carb level until you reach a point where you stop losing -- that's your CCLL. When you have only 5-10 lbs left to lose, you should move to Pre-Maintenance, where you continue until you reach your goal and are in Maintenance. Once you've reached goal and know your CCLM, you will know what and in what amounts you can eat to maintain your weight.

I'm only in OWL, so someone in Pre-Maintenance/Maintenance may give you some hands-on advice.

Also after induction are you allowed more then 3 packets of splenda a day ?
Nope. On Atkins, regardless of the phase, you are limited to 3 packets of sweetener per day.

Be prepared-- lots of folks experience a lull in weight loss after their initial quick drops. This can show up anywhere from the third week in until the 7th and can last a couple of weeks. It is a result of your body needing some time to readjust itself to your new eating pattern. Don't give in because you feel the diet isn't working. It is and it will. Your body may just need some time to sort things out. This actually has a name called Post Induction Stall Syndrome. It is common and happens A LOT! Just figured I would give you a heads up on this so you don't get bummed and give in thinking the plan isn't working.

hey i was just reading the acceptable foods list on the Atkins website and it says ranch with all of it's 1.4 carbs is okay to eat during induction. WHEW! i was worried for a minute- can't do atkins without ranch!! lol at least I can't...
