That's true, but keep a few things in mind
    1) The atkins website is run by a corporation, not (the late) Dr. Atkins - on this board we go by the book-Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) 2002 edition
    2) more than 1/2 your carbs need to come from veggies every day
    3) All of the ingredients in the salad dressing need to be on the list of acceptable foods for induction (no added sugar allowed)

    I hope I haven't burst your bubble!

I've lost on atkins and done induction several times over the last 6 years and ranch has never been a problem. And if we can't trust the ATKINS website... well come on...

Lucky you to lose while eating any ranch dressing. However, as we have seen at ADBB, many people experience a stall in their weight loss when they consume foods like Atkins bars/shakes or foods that contain hidden sugars and other "illegal" ingredients. Another problem is that Induction is meant to break one's addictions to certain foods, in particular to sugars. When these addictions are fueled instead of broken, one's chances of falling off the Atkins wagon increase. Our experience on the Board tells us that Dr. Atkins knew what he was talking about when he wrote:

So while some people who choose not to follow this rule of Induction are able to lose weight (whether or not they are maximizing their weight loss results is another story) and to avoid falling off the Diet, many of them aren't able to do so, as we have often watched it happening with ADBB members.

Re: Day 10 - Few problems.

Remember that the Atkins company website have amended their advice on what to eat to allow the inclusion of their products, many of which are made from ingredients that according to the version of Dr Atkins New diet revolution we follow here are not induction allowed.

so check the ingredients of anythng they recommend and if it contains things like milk, nuts, fruit, soy, starches or grains which are not allowed on induction then maybe delay eating those till you are at the rung/level of OWL where they are allowed.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I don't have the book anymore but I'm pretty sure ranch dressing was in there. I checked it out from the library in 2003 and followed it closely. I remember one of the first snacks I came up with was pepperoni's and ranch.

Any dressing is fine as long as it does not contain "illegal" ingredients (e.g. sugar!) and has less than 2 net carbs per tablespoon.

lol that was my original point to the original poster of the this thread who thought that ranch might be derailing her diet :P

watch out for Newman's ranch- they put a lot of sugar in there for some reason.
Every other ranch I've looked at is okay though as long as it's not "light" or fat free.

                  Her ! :P
hehe i know i have some man boobies but geesh !

I was able to have the hidden valley ranch, it does say sugar in the ingredients.
If i had to go through induction again i would try to do it with the strictest possible eye!
So i know for sure at the end of the 14 days my results are genuine.

                  Im still learning though.

A tip , Don't buy carb smart ice cream unless you can leave the carton at a relatives house.
4g carbs per 1/2 cup. For me it was a horrible way to tempt myself into having a little bit more.
I didn't gain any weight my highest carb count per day was 30 carb but still bad temptation to have more.

I mowed my neighbors yard, she was having a horrible time with her lawn mower.
The next day she came over and dropped about 2 or 3 lbs of chocolate chip cookie cake ! OMG It was so hard especially because i have 17 month old that i have to feed!
But i let the kids have a couple peices and the wife and sent it with her to work.
                  Man i wanted some !
The biggest craving that im having right now , Orange Juice !

A better tip is don't buy carb smart ice cream AT ALL. Not only is it induction illegal.... as you point out, it's just asking for trouble.

One of the keys to this whole WOE is to break the refined sugar and flour addiction that got us fat in the first place. Things like Frankenfoods and low carb sweets and diet sodas are just a form of transference... Like a person giving up cigs by using nicotine gum only to become hooked on the gum.
