they add broth to kill the fisjy taste and smell. the broth is made from soybeans and will become MSG, sneaky way to get MSG in the food without having to list it on the label. they don't add soybeans to the tuna. look for the low sodium tuna as it is broth free.

Cleo, what brand do you get and where. I am with you Billy, I - the one who always checks labels and advises folks to check labels - never looked at the tuna. I thought tuna was tuna was tuna.

I ran to grab the can. It's Starkist Gourmet Choice Solid Light Tuna Filet. It contains: Light tuna, water and salt, and I can find it both at Super WalMart and at King soopers/Krogers. It's a little bit more expensive, so I tend to buy mine at Super WM.

Hum, mine is Starkist, but not the Gorumet, I'll have to check it out tomorrow. I don't like the canned so much as my DH buys that cheap stuff and its all water.

                  Thanks Cleo

You're welcome! It's the best stuff we've bought in terms of flavor and ingredients.

                      Re: Confused about Tuna

You guys made me go and check my tuna - but yes still just tuna and water and salt.
Just goes to show - always read labels. (But they did not add the mercury on the label but I know it is there so my tuna intake is not a daily thing)
