Spinach and lettuce are two of the vegetables lowest in carbohydrates. Since over half of your net carbs should come from vegetables, at this point you are undereating your veggie net carbs.

There are more nutritious vegetables on the Acceptable Foods List, like pumpkin, green beens, peppers, jicama...

Considering that 1 tbs of heavy cream has 0.42 net carbs and you're consuming 4.2 net carbs of it, it means you are drinking (?) 5 oz of cream. That's way too much! Check the limits for cream on the Acceptable Foods List:

    Salad dressing, KRAFT Ranch Dressing

It's best to use the entry for "egg, whole, raw". FitDay assumes you are adding things like milk to the eggs, which makes the carbs higher than they actually are.

Your fat intake is too high. Fat should account for 60-70% of your total calories, while protein should be around 30%.

      Re: Too MANY calories??

Yesterday I had better percentages, and I think today it'll even out by the end of the day. To be clear, I eat a lot of veggies with my dinner... I haven't gotten to my dinner portion of the day.

I probably should cut the cream back a little bit, I was going off of the atkins website... which its weird to me that they'd publish different on the site than in the book. I didn't measure the amount I've used, I just eyeballed it, lol and then tried to overstate it on my fitday to cover any overages, lol.

Thanks for the heads up on the egg thing, thats very odd. I might look around for another website to track at. Anyone have luck with thedailyplate?

        Re: Too MANY calories??

I'm not too concerned with my carb intake, since I think I'm doing a good job there and I'll get my percentages where they should be, I'll work on balancing that through the day a little more. (I'm just not in the mood for veggies with my breakfast, ha!).

My only concern right now is the calories. I just don't want to get 5 days into it and then need to change and start over because I've had too many calories. I'm only day 2, so its too soon to notice a weight loss.

FitDay has accurate carb counts. It uses the USDA database. All you need to do is use the entry for raw eggs, not for scrambled.

You can spread your veggie net carbs throughout the day by adding more to lunch.

Ok, so thats the only one I need to track differently?

Yeah, thats what I meant... I was just cracking wise about the breakfast thing. lol.

I sort of feel like I'm being graded here, *big sigh*

If you do this, then when you'll need to troubleshoot (and we all do from time to time) you will have no idea where the problem is.

Probably, but raising three kids under the age of five on your own doesn't lend itself to measuring and weighing everything so I just figured if I put down a little more than I thought I'd had, that'd be safer than under estimating.

And... I only did that with the cream. When I'm making my coffee, I'm usually working on a lot of other stuff, so I eyeballed it. I'm constantly cooking, so I'm typically pretty good at measuring stuff by the eye.

The problem is not overestimating per se, but not measuring. This will become a problem especially in OWL, when foods are higher in carbs... so there if you're off by a tablespoon, you can actually be off by 5 net carbs.

Cream is one of those foods that interferes with weight loss for some people. So my advice is to measure it. If you have a measuring spoon, it literally takes seconds to measure a few tablespoons. Alternatively, you could use a 1-1/2 oz shot glass. That would be 3 tbs of cream.

The scrabled and the hard-boiled eggs. The others you listed look fine.

I would also use full fat cheese, not low fat.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm still a little confused on what I was originally asking about, but I guess I'll figure that out with time, lol.

I'll work on measuring more things... I guess as I get deeper into it, then it'll become easier for me. Right now, I'm using what I have on hand. I have a child that is allergic to a lot of different foods, so I'm already buying 2 kinds of lots of things... adding a third might not be an option if I still want to keep my sanity at the grocery store, haha!

I guess I'm just trying to keep this suuuuper simple... one of the reasons why I haven't been dieting is because I don't have time for any more complications. I figured that atkins would be an easy way to do it...

Are you eating when hungry or when 6 hours have passed since your last meal? Are you stopping when not hungry anymore, but not stuffed? If the answer to both questions is "yes", then you are likely not overeating.

I guess as I get deeper into it, then it'll become easier for me.
It definitely gets easier. Not only measuring, but also entering foods in FitDay, planning your menus, shopping for the foods you need...

Think of it as changing your way of eating for life, not dieting... because that's what Atkins is.

And I'm not sure if I'd call it "easy". Some might find it easier than other ways of eating, but "easy" is an exaggeration, imo. If one wants results, one needs to work (hard) for them... even on Atkins.

Well perhaps not the traditional approach by most people... but my stuff has to come behind 3 others, one of which is (as mentioned) highly allergic to a lot of foods, a severe asthmatic and high needs... add homeschool and the military lifestyle to that mix and... ahhhh... life becomes interesting.

I'm working on getting this as close to right as possible... I guess I should just stop posting on this board... haha... I think I remember reading that this board is only for the purists... and it sounds like I might not make that mark.

Thanks for the warm welcome anyways. :/

I hope that was a joke, Jenn

This board is for anyone wanting to follow DANDR 2002, however well or accurately they started out doing it. We are all trying to help each other follow the rules in the most efficient way to shift those excess pounds, and no-one is grading anyone's efforts I am sure.

Some of us might not word our comments in the most 'gentle' manner always, as we might be short on time or the cat has just vomited on the best sofa or the mother-in-law has asked our hubby again to fix her washing machine, stopping him from fixing our toilet, etc, etc, but we all mean well
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
