I honestly think 1 oz. of something is just enough to get your measuring cup dirty. LOL
If you're measuring liquids, just place the cup on the counter (usually those measuring cups have a little spout on the edge), but it's easier to pour and get the right measurement (for me at least). 8 oz. is one cup. I'm not sure if dry and liquid ingredients meaure the same. I'm sure someone on here knows. Isn't an ounce, say of cheese, the size of a dice?
I'm glad to read your post about deli meats. I am sitting here going through a circular for the grocery store here and there's not too much in the ad that is Atkins friendly, even the cheeses at the deli, not sure about them, but I have cut back on them for the time being.

        >>I'm not sure if dry and liquid ingredients meaure the same.>>

As long as you're not confusing weight and volume.

        >>Isn't an ounce, say of cheese, the size of a dice?>>

Could be. Always safer to weigh though.

        >>I am sitting here going through a circular for the grocery store here and there's not too much in the ad that is Atkins friendly,>>

How can that be? Don't they have fresh produce and vegetables, eggs, cheese?

<<even the cheeses at the deli, not sure about them,<<

What's not to be sure about?

Re: Day 1 - Did good.. messed up at the store tho

That makes sense, weighing more than guessing/volume. The ad I was looking at, yes, there are veggies on sale, some beef and of course seafood, but I need to be a little careful this month with spending $ on groceries, and I'm getting more than my share of broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus and mushrooms. But I'm still buying and eating them. They're easy to prepare, and of course cabbage.

Some of the cheeses at the deli, I'm not sure the carb content, if much at all, and this store, trying to get waited on first of all, is a feat in itself, I can see their reaction if I were to ask to see the labels. Sometimes, I just really don't want to deal with people like that. But, all in all, the rest of the store is wonderful. I did hear the the softer the cheese, the more fat it has, but I'm not concerned about the amount of fat, just not sure the carb count and being on Induction right now. I backed off on cheese a little more than I prefer. Eggs aren't on sale, closer to Easter they will be, and I'll stock up on eggs, spray a cupcake pan with Pam or some oil spray, crack them open, dump one in each cupcake part, freeze then pop them out and put in a freezer bag. Then, I'll have plenty of eggs on hand.

            Hey MsGinger-

Do you have a Walmart or Aldi in your area?
There isn't much to buy at ALDI since most of their stuff is processed, boxed stuff, or sugar filled, etc....

...BUT---They have good prices on eggs and other staples. Some days the produce is good, others iffy. Can you only buy cheese in the DELI area? ARen't there 8 oz blocks of cheese in the store in the refrigerator area. They should have nutrition labels to check the ingredients.

That's not really true. Cottage cheese is soft, yet it is very low in fat (and not acceptable on Induction).

Yes, there is an Aldis near by. I've gone there before, mostly for cheese, eggs and cream cheese and canned soups and canned veggies. But I've been buying fresh (sometimes frozen) veggies as much as possible. My grocery list changed big time. Aldi's cream cheese is a lot cheaper than the major grocery store. I do have a walmart as well. Thanks...I forgot about them.
I noticed the grocery ad yesterday, it seemed to be filled with processed foods and sodas, and of course, produce and of course meats and dairy.

What's the list of ingredients? There may be a reason it's cheaper.

Same ingredients, but cheaper than say Philadelphia brand. The Aldis in my area, does not carry brand name products. Which is why I used to shop there, and will be going back, it's easier on my wallet.

Well, it's just something I heard about years ago from some diet, another misconception. There's been many regarding WOE and why one way is better, etc....but as I've said on this site, I'm still learning, I'll get there and begin to understand what works for my body, from listening to some of the suggestions on here. Got the DANDR book Saturday and am still reading it. So I don't yet have the experience as quite a few others do.

That's fine ... as long as the ingredients are identical. Very often store brands add ingredients.

That's funny ... I had heard that Atkins isn't healthy!

Nope, same ingredients. I used to work (buyer/specialist) for a huge grocery chain in the tri-state area, and some store brands/products are made by a name brand co. for the store. Some of the "off brands" that are made by the name brand Co, are identical packaging, but cheaper, no advertising.

Yeah, I heard that one too and I'm not paying attention to it.

True...and I dont, or I wouldn't be on this or any other low carb/Atkins site.

That's not an issue at all. Just check the Acceptable Foods List often to make sure you don't any non-Induction foods.

So.. Day 4 earlier this morning I weighed in at 221.2. Lost a little but not quite the jump as the first few days. Not complaining though, I'll take it.

I'm having trouble sleeping. I think I require less sleep now??? Last night I only slept for about 4 hours, I was tired though when I woke up so I know I need more than 4. I couldn't get to sleep at all tho the last few nights, especially last night.
