Re: Day 1 - Did good.. messed up at the store tho

Thanks. I've got this nasty taste in my mouth which I have discovered is ketosis so that's good news! I've had this taste the last several nights and wasn't sure what it was. Needless to say a nice brushing of the teeth rids that problem for a while.

I'm not sleepy at all again tonight.. this is becoming annoying.

A lot of people have commented that they get more energy. Are you feeling more energetic? I wonder if everyone who is in Ketosis get's that nasty taste in their mouths. I've heard it described as metallic and even tasting like very ripe apples. I actually was looking forward to that, but I get very thristy, a dry mouth and my blood sugar is fine, had that checked, so my thirst isn't diabetic related. I do drink a lot of water, but another poster had said, for some, a real thirst can be a sign of ketosis. Not sure though.
Are you exercising? Maybe that will help relax you towards the time you go to sleep? And...CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss!
Good for getting the book!

That's not an issue at all. Just check the Acceptable Foods List often to make sure you don't any non-Induction foods.
I do have a list that I carry with me regarding what is acceptable on the Induction phase. It's great making a grocery list and making out a menu.

Regarding not having the experience as of yet with this WOE, I'm interested in what works for me (adding carbs as I go along, according to how to do it/by the book). But, I evenutally I will.

Like so many others, I've tried numerous diets, ways of eating, etc and obviously I've not succeeded, but for some reason, Atkins feels right, not just physically, but mentally. If my mind isn't in it mentally, it wouldn't matter how I felt physically, it wouldn't last.

I'm definitely starting to feel more energetic. The first few days the energy would come in spurts so I'm hoping that levels out. Got great sleep last night.

That nasty taste.. well.. it's real hard to describe. It's just different than what you're used to. You'll definitely know somethings up when you taste it. I'd say it's more metallic tasting for me.

As far as exercise, I'm not doing an exercise routine but my job is pretty much exercise. I'm a courier.

DAY 5 - After a great night sleep I just checked in on the scales.. down 0.8 lbs. 220.6

Re: Day 1 - Did good.. messed up at the store tho

Congratulations on the .8 lb. loss. I haven't gotten any different taste in my mouth, nor any burst of energy, none that I've been aware of. That makes me think like I'm doing something wrong and I'm racking my brain trying to figure it out.
I lost 4 lbs. in 6 weeks, which is frustrating, but I have 13 more lbs. to go. I need to sit quietly and re-read and just double check everything that I'm doing.

I feel good though, but, I felt a little dizzy, kinda' foggy the other day, I thought it was more a sinus issue, because I kept sneezing.
I'm keepin' on, keepin' on.
I wish I'd get that Whoosh they talk about. I'm drinking a lot of water, anywhere from 3 to 4 liters (or more a day) of just water, and 1 cup of decaf.

Not everyone notices that.

>> I lost 4 lbs. in 6 weeks, which is frustrating, but I have 13 more lbs. to go.>>

As has been stated numerous times, with only needing to lose 20 pounds, your rate of loss will be SLOW.

As has been noted, you lost well more than 10% on Induction ... and that's awesome.

You should probably move to OWL, since you only have about 8 pounds to lose while on OWL.

>>I felt a little dizzy, kinda' foggy the other day,>>

Not enough food?

>> I wish I'd get that Whoosh they talk about. I>>

You probably won't. As noted, your rate of loss will be slow!

Losing over 23% of the weight you needed to lose, in 6 weeks, is nothing to be frustrated about.

I agree with J. about moving to OWL. The last 5-10 lbs should be lost in Pre-Maintenance, and adding back foods in OWL and finding your CCLL take a long time.

True, I know not everyone experiences all of the same symptoms, but it was one that I was waiting to see if it did happen and I'd know what it was.

Yes, I have read the numerous responses and so I'm aware of that reality, but it still doesn't stop me from wishing I would lose a little faster.

I'm so glad it's a loss opposed to a gain.

I need to understand that whole process a little better before moving on. I'll have time, in the evenings, this weekend and can really read my DANDR book.

Not enough food?

I'm sure I'm getting plenty of food. It wasn't long lasting, and I do have sinus issues, especially when the weather changes, even slightly. That's what I kind of chalked it up as.
Just reading about symptoms of what others feel physically and mentally, has made me pay closer attention to my body and of course, not having felt the Induction flu personally, but I hear about it, or the more noticeable symptoms of being in ketosis, I am more focused on my body and "wonder" ...."Could this be what so many are talking about." Until I go through things and "experience" results of the way of life/eating for me, I'll just post on here and get answers and suggestions and I like reading what works for others and how they tweak things.

I will. And, I get what you're saying.

To me, my few lb. weight loss was disappointing, and I know, I know what's reality and what isn't. Doesn't change how I felt. I felt it should have been a lb. a week, because after changing the way I used to eat, to how I've been eating since I began Atkins/Induction, is like night and day. And as hard as it was in the beginning, I was sure I'd be down more than I was. And when I wasn't, it was disheartening.

Yeah, I know, although I am not comparing myself to other peope, I was hoping to compare "experiences", so then I would have a better understanding of how and IF my body was in ketosis, Nothing more, nothing less.

I wish I was taller.
BTW Ben, I apologize.

How has your weekend been? Anymore loss? I don't feel I did very well today. I had 21 g. carbs, but most were not from veggies, which they should have been, plus I feel better when my carbs are from veggies, more than dairy. But I did work hard at the barn this weekend, and who knows, maybe I'll have a little loss, or keep working on losing inches.
Keep up the good work!

Hellooo.. haven't updated in a few days.

Day - 9

Well I've been on track except for one hiccup on Sunday. I drank 4 beers that day which was about 40 carbs plus my regular food that day so probably about 55-60 carbs. Other than that I've still been completely on track.

Weight loss has slowed probably due to that. Current weight 219.6..
