I microwave it for 10 - 15 minutes (cut side down in a dish with a little water) and then scoop out the strings and sautee them. It gets a better texture that way - more noodley. It's delicious as a spaghetti squash carbonara and as pad thai. And yes, it heats up well. We grow it in our garden and it's sweet and delicious and lasts forever - we just ate our last one from last summer's garden.

Not to get off subject here, but how hard were they to grow? I'm thinking about container gardening this year, but also have access to a patch at my dad's where if I needed more room I could try some spaghetti squash! Any helpful hints/tips?

It's easy to grow - we plant it on a small hill and then the vines take over a corner of the garden along with other squashes. I don't know about container gardening - I would guess it needs some room because the squash get pretty big. It's a very low-maintenance crop and will continue to produce till the first hard freeze.

Thanks! Maybe I will try to get Daddy to handle that for me! He has 1.5 acres, but only plants a small patch of tomatoes/peppers/eggplant. Maybe I can talk him into trying a couple spaghetti squash plants for me!
