  • No results for 3 weeks in Induction

    Heya,
I ve been doing a clean induction for the last 3 weeks and ive pretty much stayed at the same weight. I will say that the same time i started the induction, i also started exercising 5 days a week.
Now im to move on to OWL in a week, but how will i be able to tell my CCLL if not losing anything now.

I know i was drinking less water than i should have so ive uped the quantity.

So my question should i move to OWL? What about discovering CCLL? If not what to do?

    Look forward to your reply,
    Diana M

    Hi

Congratulations on making 3 weeks of a 'clean' induction

did you lose weight in the first week or so of the 3 weeks, or was the 10 pounds showing between your start/current weight in your signature from before these 3 weeks?

Also have you checked your measurements to see if you are losing inches/cms?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: No results for 3 weeks in Induction

          Heya
thanks for the support, Ok 5 weeks ago i started this WOL with 62 pounds to lose, and i lost 6.6 pounds the first 2 weeks, the problem is the first two weeks were not really properly done cause i ate about 500 grams of cashewnuts daily, then 3 weeks ago i started a clean induction and for the last 3 weeks i have had no weight loss.

I havent measured my body but i know my pants are getting to big for me to wear, ive kinda dropped a size, this said i think ive been losing inches gradually. So should i move on to OWL and how will i know if ive reached my CCLL if im not losing weight now. Ive posted what id eat in a day below hope it helps.

A normal day will consist of

          :- 1.5 cups of lettuce
          :- 0.5 cups of cucumber
:- 0.5 cups of onions and tomatoes
          :- 500 grams of chicken
          :- 500 grams of beef
          :- 2 tbsp of mayo
:- Sunflower oil (dont know how much i use
          like maybe 3 tbsp)

          ok hope this helps.

Re: No results for 3 weeks in Induction

            Hi there,
Okay, I just plugged your food into fitday. This is what I came up with .Because you didn't give me descriptions of what type of onion , exact amounts of either tomato or onion and types of cut for meats, which will make a difference as well. So I just assumed.

            I plugged in this-
            1.5 cups lettuce-shredded
            0.25 cup tomatoe (raw)
            0.25 cup onion (raw mature)
            0.5 cup cucumber (sliced)
            500 grams chicken (cooked diced)
            500 grams beef (ground meat)
            2 tbls. mayo
            3 tbls. sunflower oil

            This added up to-

            Calories- 3,107
            Fats -216.1 grams
            Dietary Fiber- 2.6
            Carbs -10.3
            Net Carbs -7.7
            Protein- 265.3 grams

Which leaves you with a ratio of- Fats-62% Carbs 1%, Protein 36%
On Induction your ratios should be Fats 65%, Carbs, 5%, Protein 30%
Which tells me you're not getting enough carbs in or fat. Your protein is too high as well.
If I were you, I would start using www.fitday.com and start logging in all the food you eat there and work on getting your Induction ratios on target.
What are you eating for breakfast? What are your beverages? Are you eating dairy? I don't see any of this listed which will help me help you bring those carb and fat ratios up and your protein down.
Let me know and we'll see if we can't get you on the right track to losing, okay? We can do some tweaking on your menu.
When eating to much protein, it will turn into glucose and then be stored as fat. Something we want to avoid. Also this is a high fat woe (way of eating.) Fat burns fat. Which is why this woe makes it a successful one. We'll work on getting those carbs up. We should be getting the majority of our carb count from veggies.
I would suggest working on your Induction ratios and get you losing before moving onto OWL. Working on getting in 20 grams of carbs a day for Induction. Then move onto OWL Rung 1, which is 5 more grams of veggies, off of either list, of what you're already allowed during Induction.
            Sincerely, Sherri

              Heya,
sherri thanks for the tips ok i looked at my menu and i have 0.5 cups of other veggies i can still eat.

i do take in some dairy either in cheese or /and from whipping cream, below is a link to my fitday journal for last fridayi dont use fitday daily i just try to follow atkins rules. The last proper day i entered was 20/3/09

The link to my journal is:

              http://fitday.com/fitness/PublicJournals.html?Owner=dayana

So how do i increase my carbs after ive already reached my 3 cup a day limit?? or your saying i should eat veggies with higher carb count?

Im going strong but the scale sure is annoying me.

Do you have to eat 3500 calories to feel satisfied? I am asking because unless you are exercising heavily at least an hour per day (e.g. mountain climbing, competitive rowing, boxing), lightly at least 6 hours per day (e.g. walking, bicycling) and very lightly at least 10 hours per day (e.g. reading, eating, typing, driving), then 3500 calories is more than your AMR.

While Dr. Atkins did indeed write we are not required to count calories, calories are still important. On Atkins, you benefit from something called the "metabolic advantage" (see DANDR 2002), which allows you to eat a few hundred calories more than you would on a regular (glucogenic) diet. However, if you eat more than what you are burning, you will gain weight regardless of the amount of carbohydrate you are consuming.

If you could eat less and keep your veggies the way they are now, your percentages would improve.

                  Heya,
thanks Georgina, Ok i exercise 5 days a week 1 hour boxing class and 30-45 minutes running.
                  So far,

                  1) Increase carbs
                  2) reduce caloric intake.

Ok the fastest way to reduce calories is to lower fat intake like cook with pam instead of sunflower oil. so is that the best way? Lately ive been feeling more hungry then usual i dont know if its the exercise or im not taking in enough fat.

Ill start preparing for these changes today and start on it tomorrow. I guess i should stay in induction for atleast another 2 weeks to see if these bring about the result i want.

Oh my calorie counting lol thanks guys.

I'm not sure how using PAM would change your percentages. You have to make sure you keep your fat intake around 65%. It may require a bit of playing in FitDay to see what is the best way to tweak things.

Increasing the carbs is not necessary -- just make sure you eat your 3 cups of veggies and have most net carbs (i.e. over half) coming from vegetables. Decreasing your caloric intake will automatically increase your carbohydrate percentage. In any case, I wouldn't worry too much about percentages unless you are completely off... which right now you are not.

One reason why you might be hungry is the high protein intake. The body cannot store excess protein as such, so it has to convert it into something else. This "something else" is glucose (a simple sugar).

Here is my suggestion. 3 cups of ground beef and 500 g (1 lb) of chicken is too much. For example, the recipes in DANDR 2002 consist of about 6-8 oz of meat (after cooking) per serving. So what you could do is eat less meat. This would also mean eating less fat, since you wouldn't have to use so much oil in cooking.

Yes you have cut portion sizes a bit. You do not need 3 cups of beef and 500 gram of chicken on the same day. That is way too much protein for you. Don't cut down on the healthy oils. PAM is just BS.
Also watch that splenda - could be giving you hyper appetite. What kind of stuff are you drinking?

Georgiana and Liv have given you great advice. I'll bow out now. I just wanted to suggest that you stay off of the scale and only weigh once a week. That will help you focus on you woe, portion control and exercise. Here is a challenge I have on the board that will help you stay off the scale.

Re: No results for 3 weeks in Induction

ok for drinks i do take green tea and regular tea with 1 tbsp cream and 2 packets splenda also crystal light and water thats it. Ok i have taken atleast 1 diet coke every week. <--- i know i should cut out the diet coke and tea.

Georgina i think your right about taking in too many calories, i did some checking around about calorie intake and found out i was eating more than enough to maintain my weight i only need about 2160 from

Calorie Need - Nutrition Guide for Women

So for sure eating 3500 i was probably burning 1500 at the gym and the rest was used to maintain my weight.

Im gonna cut down on the meat, i think i eat alot because i tend to snack alot especially when im working i like to chew something in my mouth. I work at night so i dont do 3 standard meals i just eat something small(1/ 8 ) when i wake up then go to the gym, have something small(1/ 8 ) around 9 and the rest of the food i eat during the night when im working slowly(5/ , then quick bite when i get home (1/ 8 ).

So now im gonna cut down fat intake, lower calories consumed and try and structure my meal so i have 3 full meals and 2 snacks.
                          di

Ps sherri i signed up for the challenge for 14 days im so not looking at my scale

Burning 1500 calories takes quite a while. Quite hard to do for a woman unless you have hours to spend there.
You are doing a few appetite stimulating things that I would look into. Way to many sweeteners (splenda and crystal light) Drink plenty of plain water.
Also tea can be appetite stimulating for some. (It is for me - so I watch tea and coffee)
Good work on the planning and the scale challenge. That is great
