Re: why on earth am not losing ........

did youadd your MIM after the first week? if so your 2 pounds is flax weight in your digestive system.
Nobody mentioned it but it is very normal to have a scale weight loss hesitation after the initial weight loss on any weight loss plan. We atkinseers call it PISS but is it only a scale weight loss heasitation. you should be still seeing inches of body fat being burned off as you work your atkins plan. Have you checked your measurements?

remember if you are making diet changes you need to remove something when you add something. if you are going to increase the amount of fat in your diet then you will need to eat a few bites less of your other foods.

Glad to see you are eating your required veggies. Try spreading them out so you have some of your fats proteins and carbs at each meal so you have a blanced fuel system all day long.

I have another question for you. Why are you eating that amount every day? We are supposed to feed our hunger and stop. If you are working out everyother day then you should have different amounts of hungry each day.

Why are you still exercising every other day? By week 4 you should be in better condition and able to do the mandatory 30 min a day exercise per DANDR.

you are not yet stalled. Have you read your DANDR chapter 15? stalls are 4 full weeks of no loss of scale weight nor inches.

Don't let your feelings toward food effect your feeding your hunger. If you are hungry eat and stop as soon as you are no longer hungry even if you got food on the plate. room in your belly, and/or carbs in your budget

22 days on induction--20 pounds lost. That 20 pounds came off very fast, and now it is slow going at times---but I know if I follow the rules I will find another 2 pounds have melted away one day soon when I weigh. Don't weigh too frequently--and be sure to check your measurements periodically--inches melt off without showing up on the scales. Good Luck

EMMA, just don't let it frustrate you, and keep on this plan. I didn't lose for the longest time and then I dropped 5 pounds almost over night and then 5 more the week later.

What you need to do is to find out what nasty person on this board has the Whooshie Fairy locked in their closet and get them to share. Humm Jaxkat, is it you??? Looks like it. 20 pounds in 22 days..... I think we have found the culprit.

Prior to starting back on Atkins Plan I had been binging on sweets and carbs for over 2 years. Yes, upon coming back to the program and Adding my own spin to the regiment I followed at first plus using the diuretic my Doc put me on for fluid retention due to liver issues---I lost 20 pounds between jan 24 - Feb 15, but thanks for keeping me honest Desertthorn. I realize my experience is rare rather than the norm and people should not expect such fast results. However for a number of years I have come back to Adkins to drop weight fast and many times have been able to drop 20 pounds in 30 days. Good luck to all of you

That's not what Atkins is for though.

Why not just stick to atkins and then you wouldn't have to keep gaining and relosing the same weight? This is why I'm here instead of WW. I get so burned out on counting points I go off and regain, then go back on and lose, a very bad cycle.

I want a plan I know I can follow for life. That's not to say I'll never go off for a meal or anything but I want something that I can make a lifestyle, this seems to be it.

Re: why on earth am not losing ........

Honestly I bet you have lost more but TOM coming so soon will mask your efforts! It's done it to me time and time again. My advice, stay off the scale until TOM leaves and then only once a week. Also, I would follow the advice given before me regarding upping the veggies and fats - it can make all the difference. Oh and the only thing that seems to get me out of constipation is enough fat, water and sometimes a really good, stiff cup of joe. That might just be me though. Just thought I would mention it in case it could help you.

Also, I do sort of like what Jim said, stay lower in grams of carbs but progressed my food choices to OWL because otherwise I don't lose (I am close to my goal though so my body is stubborn about dropping those few last lbs) and I REALLY don't seem to lose because I exercise like a fiend (I run marathons, and am currently training for a half marathon May 1st) and when I train hard, I don't lose a thing. In fact I gain on the scale - however to keep myself sane, I keep eating right and stay off the scale because I know its muscle. You could be gaining muscle from your workouts and if they're intense, you can hold as much as 3-5lbs of water in your muscles for 4-5 days if you're sore! Scales lie and water weight masks inch loss but hold on and don't give up! You're going to see a "whoosh" soon I bet - especially after TOM goes its merry way!

                        I hope this helps.

So good to see so many gathering around to help you. What a great board this is!!!

What type of exercize are you doing? Try switching it up. That helped me get past a plateau that lasted nearly 1.5 months. I gave the Eliptical a break and traded it in for some yoga and pilates. Hang in there!

I, too, am going through alot of the same, and it makes me frustrated enough to start snacking, because I still lack willpower. I lost 10 lbs. with the Induction, and then I started to add nuts and some blackberries. But I'm still addicted in my mind to sugar, and I battle that all the time. Hope the sun starts breaking through for you soon! Don't give up! Look at what you've done so far!
Hi, I'm Jeanne Smoker, I'm 58 years old (last month!) I started Atkins in Mid January. I have read the Induction Book. When I started, I weighed 181 lbs. and I'm 5'3" tall, or short, depending on your view My current weight is 167, and I'm not totally stalled, but it's been VERY SLOW for the last 2 weeks at least. My goal weight is 140, but at this rate, it's gonna take me a long time. I lost 10 lbs. on Induction, but since then, it's become slow, very slow. Prescription meds I take are generic Prozac, just 10 mg. and acid reflux medicine, generic name ranitidine.
