I can say no because they think I will cave especially my mother-in-law. She always says come on you deserve it and I say no thanks she says I don't know how you do it! That is the not gripe part. Here is the crazy part. When I'm with my husband he makes sure I don't cheat. If I do he won't talk to me for hours. This is only because I have worked so hard on my loss and health and he doesn't want to see me screw it up. I find it harder when he says Pam don't eat that your not allowed and it makes me want it sooo much more. I guess I'm just weird. That's the gripe. I really like people to know I'm strong and that is a compliment for me. Without people like my mother-in-law I probably would have quit a long time ago! I know sounds crazy huh?
I'm the same way. My fiancee is really supportive of me doing atkins - even though he wont do it himself (thats a gripe for another time) He even carries the induction list in his pocket!

But whenever I mention something I would like to it - its an immediate no you cant have it. I know I cant have it - doesn't stop me from wanting it! Even though I'm not craving it in the slightest once he tells me I cant have it - it takes all my willpower not to get it.

Then he bugs me about me having to go work out, like I dont know or something. him saying that makes me want to procrastinate even MORE about it. ugh! men!

spazzyhilo you got it. men can't live with and can't shoot them (legally) But after telling him today how much I've lost since easter he has decided to join us. Paybacks are a b***h! I'll get on his nerves for a few days but I'll wait till he is about a week into it. That way I can tell him I just don't want all your hard work to go down the drain. He has no willpower so I'll have to nag very little. After all I don't want him to quit. Just suffer a little. lol I'll be nice :guns

This vent goes out for my DH...bless him, I love him, but HE'S KILLING ME, MAN!!! I lost a lot of weight on this diet. I'm healthier, better looking ( I wouldn't say good looking quite yet), I have more energy, I take care of the house better, and more calm, don't have mood swings nearly as much, and have improved in other areas I don't want to mention....AND YET HE STILL DISSES ME ABOUT THIS DIET!!!! This morning I grumbled a little about figuring out how to arrange my meals today, and he goes "You know what I think? You think too much about food!" :mad2 I said, "You know what I think? You don't think enough period!" That actually shut him up. :dancingb: I just wish, just for once, he could just say, "ok, maybe I was wrong...maybe you do need this diet." Instead of just waiting for any oppurtunity to say, "its not what you eat, its portion control!" :no Like its working for his flubby tubby!!! Ok, enough now. I'm back to "adoring" him again!

Disclaimer: This is in no way intended to be a slam against men in general, married men in particular. This is a one particular frustration with an otherwise amazingly wonderful man! :angelanim

            I hear ya

I hear ya Maribelle! But atleast your man is trying some sort of diet!! My man wants to barely exercise, then have the nerve to get mad when he doesn't lose anything ang his measurements stay the same. He doesn't want to change eating habits, but he want to gripe and complain when he sees that I am losing weight while he's gaining ensive. This is frustrating, because I would like to help him and would love for him to join me in this woe, but he is too lazy to care about his own health--this concerns me a lot. :sadblinky

Actually my DH isn't on a diet. He got cocky because last year he stopped drinking soda and eating chips and lost 20 pounds. Now he's totally back to the soda and chips. He really is a sweetheart, and probably has my best interests at heart... I did find that example works the best in the past. Whenever I try to urge him, encourage him, guide him ( any of the 100 words we use to mean what men call nagging) he just ran the other way. I bet as beautiful as you started out by your pic, you're blowing his socks off, and pretty soon he'll get motivated to keep up with your image!!! :yes

You know what seriously pissed me off? On Thursday night we had SuperSize Me on UK television. I'm sure most of you know what the gist is, basically Morgan Spurlock trying to demonstrate the effects of worldwide slavery to fast food companies and the damaging effects they have on your body.

Now, my boss knows I am on Atkins. So I come in the next day and she said, "I saw that documentary and thought of you". "Why?" says I, and she replies, "Because of your diet and all that fat".

                This really annoyed me because:

                a) I am a notorious hater of McDonalds and fast-food chains, loathe, despise them and honestly think they are evil.

                b) At the time I was tossing some eggs and salad around in a bowl with a fork for my breakfast

                c) WRONG WRONG WRONG!

I went onto explain to her I never ate processed foods and I only ate wholefoods. If I ate McDonalds every day I wouldn't have lost my weight. Was sort of annoying though, I thought she knew me better than that because I often have little rants about the food companies indoctrinating children and false claims on food packaging.

I make my own food, lady :anger

Miss Seaneen, sounds like you have someone who needs to read DANDR or is a bit jealous of you. Either way people will say things sometimes outta plain ignorance. No doubt when they don't use tact it can piss you off!

I saw the last hour of that.
What really irritated me was they persisted in calling it a 'high fat' diet.
Surely it was more a high carb diet ensive
He showed how he was ingesting a pound of sugar A DAY :yikes for goodness sakes!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Some people still are non believers.. if i tell them to eat my shorts.. how many carbs would that be? :joy

selfx-- how lame is that! Just because others don't have your self control you're accused of taking diet pills. I've been accused of having weight loss surgery. I laugh it off, but I think people tend to blame other factors for their being overweight when they have to assume you couldn't do it on your own.

BTW, way to go on doing so well!

Lol, you can always tell them yes its a diet pill - wholesome foods, minimally processed, and no sugars, all wrapped up in excercise.

Telll them the pill is REALLY big - but satisfying
