you do realize that the exercise itself is not the problem, so much. it's the motivation to do it. saidie and i both know the benefits or doing it. we just didn't have enough gumption to do it.

It's tough to keep it going...I had it easy when I was sitting at home all the time!

Higgies, I work from home and i realize that i've got it made as far as exercise is concerned but, I'm with Jimmie on the motivation part..it's just so tough to get myself going! I don't think winter is helping me much..i'm not a 'cold' person.

Perry, I live in a corner house...I have 3 times the sidewalk as my neighbours and i hate shovelling snow! But you are right..it's definately a workout. Usually takes me two days to recover.. We haven't really had much snow yet to be shovelled.

Yesterday I did weights and pilates..been quite a while since I've done weights..it hurts today!

I picked up some brand new Cross country skis at a garage sale in the summer that I had forgot about, saw them in teh garage last night. I can't wait to go up to the cottage and use them..that will be a fun way to get in my exercise over Christmas/new years...

I've cut some foods out of my diet now (flax, wheat bran)to see if maybe i'm taking a reaction to them. I can't for the life of me figure out why I've put on weight

Yep Jimmie... I did my 40 min tramp up hill and down dale with the doggies, and my 35 min workout. Did this last, watching (between push ups!) the cooking program on TV. *Groans* Hope that won't undo all the good work by some kind of visual osmosis. But... I promise I was planning how to converto the recipes to low carb!!

Well, I spent the day jumping to conclusions. And if I spent half the amount of energy I do avoiding exercising actually exercising I'd drop 6 inches...

laura, you spend time running and jumping. too bad it hasn't been the "right" kind.

i promised perry (even though he didn't ask) that i would do 30 minutes biking. i wanted to quit at 20 but jack called at just the right moment and talked me through to 40 minutes. silly guy, said he liked my heavy breathing. ah....maybe more motivation? could be.

what do you guys think about me lowering my weight to 118? did any of you hit goal and then think you should lose a few more?

                      Re: Maintenance Support thread

Jimmie, I actually originally had a goal weight of 115, which i still think it pretty reasonable for me..but I just couldn't get there..my body just doesn't wanna go. I'm considering aiming for it again, probably after xmas. I did get down to 117 for a couple of weeks inthe spring..but it was short lived.

I upped my goal weight by 5 lbs to 120 just to avoid the disappointment. But now I wonder if i should have..

I seem to reallyneed something to aim for? I think that's what it sounds like you need too...

Biker, LOL I know the feeling of spending so much time on excuses for exercising, I'm the queen at that!

okay, since we're spilling our guts over here.....

one thing that has always bothered me, for lack of a better word, since i set my goal at 120 is that i see girls that are much taller than me. 5' 4" like you jen and some even taller that have a goal set the same as me....120. i know that i should not let that dictate what i should weigh but that is easier said than done. the victoria's secret look at my underware show was on the other night. no wonder some of us feel very inadequate. too short, too heavy and sometimes both at the same time.

i am saying that if someone 4 inches taller than me has a goal of 120 then by comparison i should weigh about 112 or 113. i am not saying this is sensible but it is how i think.

sorry, i really didn't mean to get off track so much here. this may be something that affects my own personal problem with motivation.

Jimmie 48 what is y9ur % lean body mass? Your goal weight should not be some height weight chart munbers or even a BMI number. it should be truely representative of your body. Are you at a health body fat % for you. height don't matter go with a healthy percenr and if you got bigger bones and more muscle you could just be skinnier then those taller folk at the same weight.
Dang I was refferring to getting some exercise while you were on the board. I sit on my fitness ball now and use it to workout while pages load and while reading.

                              Results:
According to your measurements - weight of 120 pounds and height of 5' 0", your lean body mass is estimated to be 86.74 . Since the ideal body fat percentage for women is 22%, your ideal lean body weight is 78.17 pounds. Remember these are guidelines; your physician should help you determine the ideal weight and body fat for you.

You may be thinking that your lean body mass is your ideal weight or your weight if you were a true "lean machine." Well, it’s not. Your lean body mass is sum of the nonfat parts of your body like muscle, organs, blood and water.

Jimme you are missing the point. if all that is left of you is 13.26% body fat. your body fat is under control and you are a very lean person. They are saying you are too lean not you have too musch lean tissues. you may be retaining fluids and skew the numbers or you may not be accuratly measuring but you are body fatw is if correct almost to the point you doc should be telling you to gain some pounds.
