Joy, we did discuss before that I'm allergic to mangoes too right? I'm emergency room allergic to them. Too bad about the avocado for you because it is a good way to bump up. What about coconut?

Mascarpone cheese, coconut oil, dried coconut, heavy cream -- all fat- uppers with minimal protein. One serving can make quite a difference in my daily percentages.

My problem is the opposite: I have a hard time eating the amount of veggies I want, without sending the fat ratio through the roof. I suppose it's because most veggies here get tossed in garlic and lots of olive oil, and they're so delicious that way...

Anyway... I reckon you're right when you say maybe we should just count the carbs and that's it. It's easy to stress too much about those wretched percentages, and after all, Dr A didn't.

well after a weekend of depression and yes cheat..or fall back..I am back on my game.. I still battle with the whole emotional aspect of eating..I suppose most of us deal with emotional eating. I am still 10lbs away from my target weight which is much better than the 206lbs I started with..so things could be worse...

Although I have been really good at directing my attention towards other things like exercise and music(not a singer..good lord I would be banned if you heard me sing..lol just an avid listener)..i still have my moments..but late last night i have decided that i absolutely can not do this anymore.. I spent so much of my life overweight/depressed that I missed out on alot.. the past pain..is in the past..why should i still carry that old luggage...I have been to therapy and it did help but somehow we still carry those old demons..and i suppose I will always carry them but I need to put it in perspective..it is no longer apart of my life..

So today is day one..today I take back my control....my life..

Validrouge, when I did my high fat experiment I didn't bother measuring the protein amounts of eggs, veggies or in dairy. I just cut down on the meat and fish protein amounts. For me the proteins in the dairy and veggies etc. didn't seem to matter. I definately came to the conclusion it was overconsumption of steak and chicken that was my downfall. Hope this helps.

I'm not in maintenance but I wanted to say that the more fat I incorporate, the bigger my losses. I am on rung 2. COndor, thanks for the experiment and have fun in your travels!

Don't you wish everyone would get that it's the fat that helps us lose? Thanks for posting that in here Disco!

I will try playing with my menu on fitday first and see what happens if I do 70 % fat..

Haven't checked in here for a while as I was on vacation, been back for a week. My week at the cottage was probably the most carbs I've eaten in some time! Mostly from fruits and whole grains, but I also will confess to having a few vodka coolers that were full sugar (I actually find now that sugar drinks leave an aftertaste..weird), and a slice of pizza (a big one, white dough and all ). Wasn't much fallout from it other than a bit of water weight that disappeared when I got home. Not that it helped much in my quest to drop 10 more lbs LOL. I stayed pretty much at around induction level carbs last week to detox.

This week iv'e been good, but lately I've noticed something interesting: I've never been much of a fruit eater in the past other than a few berries etc, but lately I've been craving fruit like crazy! I wonder if that's my body telling me I need those nutrients...anyone else ever have something like this? Today already I had 1/2 cup of strawberries and cantaloupe with my yogurt and right now i'm snacking on an apple with some almond butter.

I just find this really strange, in the past a bag of apples would end up getting thrown out inthis house..now i could live on them....

I've gone back to running again today, I've been terrible at keeping up with my exercise...I don't know why I've lost my motivation with the exercise part of this woe I was doing really well with the running.

I've never been a big fruit eater Sadie...but in the hot weather, I do like a bit of peach... and love prosciutto e melone... and berries...
This year have increased fruits. Like you, almost a craving... I also wonder if it's a physical need or just the extra hot weather we're having (though with the amount we drink...!)

Sounds like you had a good vacation, but are all set to get back to your 10 lb minus "quest".
