I met a lady yesterday, she is 28 years old and is getting married in October. It was a very cold and windy day with lots of rain around and we were at a market, I was selling my jam and she was selling her unwanted stuff out of her boot.
I watched her eat a doughnut with her coffee first thing. Doughnuts I thought, I bet the poor thing has no idea how bad they are for her. She joked with me about loving jam but how she tried not to eat it as it made her fat. I agreed and thought long and hard about "The Doughnut".
Sometime later I saw her eating another doughnut. Now by this time we had grumbled about the weather together and she had told me a little about herself, so I thought what the heck?
My husband and I are eating the Atkins way, we have both lost lots of weight and feel great, you know you shouldn't really be eating so many doughnuts if you want to lose weight for your wedding.
Her reply knocked me over a little. Oh yes the Atkins Diet I have been on it for 2 years and have gone from a size 34 to an 18/16 great isn't it. I had to pay for two seats when I went to America last and I thought, never again but then the doctor told me I shouldn't be on a low sugar diet because of my Addisons Disease.
I looked up the illness and found that some people may suffer from low blood sugar and low blood pressure.
Then I thought but that is what low carb prevents. This lady went on to eat a whole bag of doughnuts, they cook em hot and fresh at the market and then dunk them in SUGAR.
Now, maybe I am wrong to think that this is daft, a young woman who has been eating Atkins for two years is now back on the rocky road of putting all that weight back on again.
I didn't argue because she just kept saying that the doctor said, the doctor advised, so I just shut up and came home thinking that some people will never learn. Maybe I am wrong anyone like to comment?
