  • Re: What's on your OWL/Pre-Main menu today?

I thought it was very good actually. Just like the real thing. Mind you I have not had the real things for a while But I doubt anybody could really tell the difference. So it that sense it is not a bad product. I of course am thinking this is wheat and as such can it really only have 5 carbs and very little effect of on system? I do not want to make pasta part of my daily routine but it is there as one of the many options I have for a meal now.

I had some fried fish for supper today with turnip fries and acorn squash. I tried acorn squash during the veggie challenge and I am so glad I did. It has become one of my favourite things.

Wanted to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all here in the U.S. Another challenge for many, but I'm up for it. Just had to plan ahead. I did the shopping last night. While I bought the rest of the family all the traditional stuff like pumpkin pie, whipped cream, stuffing, and potatoes, I am making Mitzi's MUP, stuffing of celery, onions, water chestnuts, and baby bella mushrooms, and mock mashed potatoes made with cauliflower, cream, butter, and green onions pureed together. Getting hungry just thinking about it. Good thing that it's almost lunch time! LOL

Today the menu is pretty simple.

              Breakfast
              2 eggs
              2 oz sausage
              4 oz Greek Yogurt
              roma tomato slices

              Lunch
              6 oz of tuna salad
2 cups of cauliflower with 1 oz cream cheese
              roma tomato slices

              Dinner
2 Bleu Cheese and Bacon Burgers (2 patties approx 7oz total, with 1 oz bleu cheese crumbles, roma tomato, green onions, and 1 slice of crumbled bacon
              2 cups of broccoli
              Don

I had a shake for breakfast - whey
                Ceasar salad for lunch
Ribs - flavoured with a Waldon bq sauce and a bit of lowcarb ketchup and soy sauce added with Greek salad (love those olives and feta cheese)

Fish yesterday... Linguine alle vongole (v. small portion of Dreamfields with lots of lovely clams though), then poached fish (Fragolino...not sure what it's called in English) with EVO and lemon. Salad.

I remembered Fragolino as a strawberry dessert wine from Veneto. I had to Google it, because I was curious. It seems the fish is called Fragolino because of it's reddish or pinkish color. It is a Mediterranean fish (also called Pagello in Tuscany) and didn't seem to have an english counterpart. However, in looking at the picture, it did seem to look an awful lot like our red snapper.

Yes... that's right Don... it's reddish in colour. Some places they call it Fravolino... a bastardisation of the name. Whatever it's called, it's deeeelish!

Had the other half of the game hen today for lunch along with 2 cups cauliflower, and a salad with blue cheese dressing.

1 oz nuts as mid morning snack and 1/2 avocado as mid afternoon snack.

Tonight a blue cheese and roma tomato burger about 6 oz along with broccoli and squash.

Don... I love blue cheese dressing for salad... but never seem to remember to make it. You've jogged my memory. Thanks!

Went out for lunch yesterday... had antipasti of various prosciutti, cheese, canellini beans and olives, then a mixed grill and salad. All foods were from the farm. Lovely!

You're welcome Sally. I see so many new ways of doing things on this board that it makes me want to go shopping and try everything.

Of course, when I read your posts, it makes me want to get on a plane to Italy and shop!

This morning I did my Egg NoMcMuffin

2 eggs, 4 thin slices of canadian bacon, and 1 slice of colby jack cheese.

Place each fried egg on top of 1/2 slice of cheese between two slices of canadian bacon. Kind of hard to eat with your hands, but it does work wrapped in a paper towel or better yet wax paper. This is great if you are on the go, or just want something quick and easy.

Tonight will be the last of the turkey frame soup.

It is broth from the turkey frame with lots of different veggies added and some navy beans.

After six days of turkey stuff, tomorrow I am definitely having something non-poultry!
