  • New goal

As most of your know I thrive on what the scale says. It moved a little yesterday at 140.2 and today it was back up to 140.40. So I am on day 13 with no weight loss. No inches either since my clothes are not getting any looser.

My new goal. Not to look at the scale for atleast 2 days. I need to break myself and if I give myself the challenge I am more likely to stay away.

Ugh...please remind me this is a good wol

    >>today it was back up to 140.40.>>

    Not surprised.

You didn't eat dinner. Not eating can cause results like that with the scale. It seems like it shouldn't work that way, but it does.

    >>please remind me this is a good wol>>

    It is.

However, if you're just focusing on the weight loss component, then you're missing a lot of the point of Atkins.

Maybe if you stopped "dieting", and relaxed a bit ... and thought about Atkins as a permanent way of eating, then maybe things would be better for you.

I'll be honest with you, I used to look at the scale daily...then every week...now, once a month or so. If you're doing everything right, change will happen. Trust!

get those measurements and then go try on those too small clothes of yiours and explain to your scales why they are liars cause you couldn't possible be wearing those cloths if you hadn't lost any body fat!!!!

I was just really hoping to be in the 130's before my 30th birthday on 4/30. I had started at the end Jan and didn't think 3 months was too short to make that goal. But now I should have started this WOL again way before then since I had no idea I would stall like this. I had never stalled before so just frustrated and trying to keep my head up since I am VERY goal and number oriented. I can't help it.

I am going to keep with it obviously since I chose to do this again for more than just the weight loss aspect. I was just really hoping to start 30 more healthy and less fat.

I promise to myself to remove the scale and but it somewhere where it's hard to get to. Maybe I'll be surprised after a few days, but I doubt it.

I've tried on all my size 6's and they are still a little snug (except 1 pair of jeans that should have been labeled an . I need about 5 more lbs to fit into them comfortably, or a couple inches all over belly hips and thighs.

I am not going to skip dinner again, I have not yet, except yesterday. Too lazy. I also drank 1 litre less water which was BAD!

          Thanks girls

There's no reason to believe that you won't.

            A self-fullfilling prophecy? That's "diet" thinking!

Thanks Atkinsgal, I'm glad you believe in me.

I am sure you can understand it takes a couple of months to get out of "diet" mode. It takes about 90 days of doing a "diet" to make it a way of life and a habit. I can't believe you didn't have the same frustrations and feelings I am having now when you first started on this WOL.

It's a journey and I just need to remind myself to take one day at a time. It's going be hard but I am swearing and promising to myself to hide the scale. The garage in the attic would be the best place. I can't get into the attic without my husband's help.

Hey Jax. That scale can be a torture device when trying to change your way of eating. See how it goes not checking the weight after a few days. I think you may find a little more encouragement.

I did have one question though. Are you still doing your "tailored" version of Atkins or are you now doing a strict, by the book Atkins?

                  Hey Jaxmama,

Are you exercising or doing any weight training?
If you are following the plan and are exercising, you could still be healthy and less fat by your birthday, even without loss of pounds. You could tone, gain muscle, and be in better, healthier shape without the scale moving.

In January. I only lost 1# the whole month, but lost at least 2" in my stomach area.

                    Re: New goal

Yes I am trying my very hardest to go by the book. Although it seems I had better success last year doing induction as called for by the book and then moving up 5 grams (anyway I chose). I never stalled.

Exercise...not so much. Walk here and there for work, yesterday about 20 blocks.. I was thinking about getting on my elliptical again this weekend or doing my Wii workout.

But me thinking about it isn't action at this point.

Well, maybe not when I first started, but certainly along my journey.

Of course, I never once thought that starving myself to get to a particular weight would be a possible choice.

                      >>Although it seems I had better success last year doing induction>>

Again ... this isn't "last year" ... this is now. At some point, you will have to realize that this constant comparison to "before" is futile, and only making you nuts.

Yep like atkinsgal said, comparing two goes at this WOE is like comparing apples and oranges.

Stick to the book, don't weigh yourself every day, let go of some of the stress and you may find things fall into place. Good luck.

How old is Jax? When I did this the first time around, my exercise was playing with my kid. Playing tag, kicking a ball, go for a bike ride or whatever. I had become so out of shape that I wasn't spending enough time with him after work.

You don't have to climb on an eliptical machine or lift weights to "exercise". Break out the Wii fitness and play with you child. This should be a way of life. A change that works for your whole family. Not some diet and exercise program so you can squeeze into your jeans from college.

For the heck of it, before I put up the scale, I weighed myself. 140.40.

Interesting, I weighed exactly the same this morning before food and 2 liters of water. But I made a promise to not weigh myself for a couple of days because I can't stand the disappointment of not making my 2nd mini goal, below 140....so here it goes....learning to not rely on the scale.

Actually polar bear, I was a lot fatter in college and high school....I am 29, will be 30 4/30.

And yes I agree I need to get some cardiac exercise. I do run around with my daughter and walk some for work but I quit exercise when I started Atkins. Yes, smack my hand, I know. That's my next goal. 2 days a week....
