  • Gaining?

    I started OWL just a couple of days ago. I had been losing in the first two weeks and feeling amazing. Now just 3 days after starting OWL I feel as though something is wrong...Im bloated, and gaining! Maybe I am not doing this right??? I'm eating pretty well the same, only adding more stuff like spinach.
    Today is my menu:

    breakfast:
    2 eggs scrambled
    3 asparagus stalks

    lunch:
    Pizza toppings with a caesar salade

    Dinner:
    4oz cod baked in butter with garlic
    broccoli and grn beans steamed

    This is a typical menu (give or take chicken or beef for supper)
    Normally I dont have pizza toppings, this was leftover from a pizza caserol I made last night (recipe from this website)
    Im frustrated and wondering whats up!

    How much water have you had?

    When was the last time you had a good poop?

    Sometimes bloating happens because the day of the week ends in "y".

    How many net carbs from vegetables do you have?

      Depending on what you put in the pizza casserole, If you made it as the recipe suggested, there is 1# of sausage, pepperoni, cheese, olives, all foods high on the sodium side, and that could cause a temporary wight gain.
      And I do not know how much you ate, but I found it to be very high in carbs, calories, fat, and to eat a reasonable "portion", it was not very filling.
      It was very tasty, but not worth eating/wasting all those calories and carbs and fat, if you don't feel full. And actually, both days I had some, I had some problems as well. Much worse than "bloat!"

      As good as it tasted, I don't think I will make it again.

        So what is in pizza toppings?

          Ok I have no idea what you mean by the day of the end of the week ends in "y"
          As for water I drink approx 3 1/2 ltrs a day.
          Net carbs...not really sure.
          On fit day its saying 18g I know I'm suposed to be in the 25g mark now...so how do I up my veggies if Im rarely even hungry these days?

            I didn't use pork...I put in some lean ground beef, grn pepper, onion, mushroom and some pizza sauce with only 2g carbs! I used about 2oz of cheese!
            I only had about a fist full in portion because I made a big salad! Sooooooooooooooo I dunno ladies! I think in the next few days I will leave cheese out?

              Hi Liv,

              This is the recipe as it was posted-you are on your own as far as amounts. Since it is a pizza, you can put whatever you want and how much you want. I looked at this as a Basic recipe to be tweaked as you like.

              Pizza Cassarole

              Ingredients :


              1lb Jimmy Dean Regular Pork Sausage

              Pepperoni
              1 jar Ragu Homestyle Pizza Sauce
              diced Onion
              diced Green Pepper
              sliced Green Olives
              sliced Black Olives
              Mushrooms
              Mozarella Cheese - shredded
              Cheddar Cheese - shredded

              Instructions :


              brown 1 lb Jimmy Dean Sausage , just about when its finished cooking throw your onion & green pepper into the sausage for quick heating. Is not necessary to cook veggies fully. Place sausage, onion & green pepper mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 9x13 cake pan. Cover with 1 jar Ragu Homestyle Pizza sauce. Cover with shredded Mozarella & Cheddar Cheese.

              Next, cover cheese with pepperoni slices, then adding your green olives, black olives and mushrooms. Cover again with another layer of shredded Mozarella and cheddar cheese.

              Bake uncovered for approx. 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees , until the top is golden brown.




              These are the amounts and ingredients I used.

              Pizza Casserole

              Ingredients :

              1lb Jimmy Dean Regular Pork Sausage

              Hormal Pepperoni 1 oz little rounds (1/2 of 1 oz package)
              1 jar 14 oz Walmart Brand Pizza Sauce
              2.5 oz diced Onion
              1.5 oz diced Green Pepper
              1.5 oz sliced Black Olives
              3 oz canned Mushrooms
              1.25 c Mozarella Cheese - shredded
              1.25 c Cheddar Cheese - shredded

              This is one way I would make a topping for a crusted pizza as well.

                were any of those pizza toppings new to you foods? if so you could be having a food intolerance causing the bloating.

                if not it could be the extra sodium in them

                OWL isn't about getting to 25 with your first addition it is about adding 5 more net grams to where you ate your induction. so if your induction was 12 total then your OWL begins at 17. if your induction was 15 then your OWL starts at 20.

                how you get your veggies is you should be eating your induction 3 cups plus you added 5 more net grams of them to your menu

                you can roast many of them and then puree them to make a dip or sprerad. you can make a soup out of them stuff your protein with them like spinach pinwheels. you can could one pot meals with lots of your induction legal veggies in there like a stew with radishes as the taters onions tomotoes green beans mushrooms etc.

                  make a gumbo like soup with okra onions tomotoes peppers and some cooked seafood or chcken.

                  make ratatouie sp? but leaveoutr the beans and pasta roast eggplant garlic and onions and then purree them and use as a dip for other veggies or spread on chcicken

                  make atkins creamed spinach recipe should be in your dander

                  make cleochatra's zuchinni tacos or cauliflower noodles or even pizza crsut and you can get tons of veggies in your meals.

                    Oh boy! Im confused! Maybe I should just go back to inducion for a week and than try to learn and understand how to add these OWL standards in.

                          breath and don't worry you will learn it and then you will be teaching newbies asking the exact same questions.

                          now again what was your net carb count for induction days? that is all you need to worry about right now

                          if you are 3 cups of lettuce and your net was only 2 then you would add 5 more net grams of any of those 54 legal veggies in your DANDR chapter 11 lists as your OWL rung one food to test first for a total of 7 net grams a day

                            My induction was approx 18-20 carbs. Sticks say Im still in ketosis! Im exercising! Not TOM because I had a hysterectomy a couple years ago...sooo I dunno maybe hormones? Since Im not taking any since surgery? Hmmm.
                            I'll have to research!

                              okay so you add 5 net grams of those veggies to your 18-20 so you eat 23-25 now.

                              you could be bloated as an intolerance of the 5 net grams of spinach if you added that much more or you could just be bloated just cause you are and you will not know the reason.
