  • Is this good?

    Hi all,

Just wanted an opinion on my progress. I initially had 20 pounds to lose. In the first 2 weeks I lost 9 pounds, then the third week I lost one pound. I was down to 125. This last week I went up 1.5 pounds, and then back down another pound. I am currently at 126.

I lost 1.5 inches off my waist and today I checked and I have lost another couple of millimeters...almost half an inch. From 28" to 26" in one month.

Is this proper weight loss? I understand that since I only want to shed 11 more pounds it may be slow going. I also know that there are 1-4 fluctuations depending on TOM and weight training. I eat pretty clean, although on a handful of days I have gone over w/ sweeteners and cheese (damn you cauliflower pizza!!! - but never had even one bite of illegal foods.

I have also noticed that my clothes fit so much better and I am able to wear outfits that I otherwise would not have. I am just wondering if this is because I am more confident, or because I am more thin. Who knows....

For those of you with less to lose, or who lost the last few pounds and got to goal, does my weight loss seem typical? What worked for you?

    Thanks!

    Re: Is this good?

I notice your 'Atkins phase' still reads 14-day induction Can I assume as you are posting in the OWL forum that you are on OWL rung 1 now? It might be an idea to update that to avoid confusion.

With relatively little to lose you did really wekk to lose all those pounds in your first 2 weeks

As you move up the OWL ladder you will probably need to judge your progress by pounds or inches lost, to tell when you have found your CCLL. Especially as you exercise by walking and weights you will see more changes in your body shape while maybe the scales record a rise in weight, but remember

    Inches lost = fat lost!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Proper or not, it's what your body is doing! Remember, it's not always about the number on the scale ... don't let that number define your success.

          Re: Is this good?

woo hoo congrats on the great job you are doing shrinking your body shedding your body fat. You are doing great. remember now that each pound you shed is 10% of your remaining to lose weight which would have been over 14 pounds for somebody like me. You are almost to the point you should be thinking about moving to premaintnenace since Dr Atkins said we should shed our last 5-10 pounds there and take 6 months to do so.

I hope you are measuring in more then just your waistline so you can see all the inches or mms of body fat being burned off.

Thanks two big. I have been on OWL #1 for just one week. You think maybe by next week I should move up to the dairy rung?

                Re: Is this good?

Still no weight loss. It is TMO so I am not too worried. The good news is that when I first started (March 11) I measured 35-28.5-36.5 and now measure 35(phew!)-26-35. That's not bad! I've spent two weeks on rung 1 and think I am ready for rung 2. My plan is to try one dairy food I want to eat 3x a week and then move on to another one. This week, I will be trying ricotta. Next week whey protein powder, and then after that cottage cheese. I don't care for yogurt, but may try it after just to see if it cause weight gain or cravings. Any other ones I am missing? I know I can add more "normal" cheese too..may do that later on. Plan to stay on this rung a while....

Sounds like a good plan to me
Do you like to use milk? You could try that out if you like it. (I only added yogurt on the dairy rung as milk makes me feel yukk and I hate cottage cheese!)

                    Re: Is this good?

sounds like a great plan. Not2late had issues with an added ingredient in fresh ricotta cheese so if you gain eating it you might want to try a different brand or make your own. There should be a cheese making topic here so you could make your won ricotta mozzarella and cottage if the addatives become a factor for you.

Ah ok, thanks for the heads up. And Elizellen, I don't really care for milk, especially when there's heavy cream i can use instead

                        First day of Ricotta.

                        Small problem.

                        RICOTTA SUCKS!

Gonna try to make a quiche for two more days, and that will be that.

next week is Whey and after that cottage. Anyone have any tips on what to do with cottage cheese? I def want to give it a try b/c I'd love to have some w/ berries in the future....but how about now?

                          Re: Is this good?

As I understand the rungs, you don't have to try one kind of food 3 times for the first week in a rung, just a food from the food group. So that would mean if you don't like the ricotta, you can try something else for the 2nd and 3rd foods from that group. Personally I like ricotta with my breakfast vegetables of mushrooms and peppers that ahve been sauted with a little garlic. I just stir in the ricotato warm it through.

what did you do with your ricotta? you could cook it in your eggs in a dish and sprinkle with cinnamon and splenda for a flan like dish. you can use it as the filling for blintzs, or make CLeochatra's cauliflower noodles lasagna.
