  • attention Atkin~eers!!!

    well i do not have the DANDR book, as where i live i cant get it in english and i cant get it thru the internet as well

    but i have this 13 days plan, please comment and tell me the changes, additions or subtractions whatever, plz comment on the exercise regime as well!!!!

    1ST DAY:
    BREAK FAST: 1 CUP OF TEA/coffee
    LUNCH: 2 HARD BOILED EGGS,1 TOMATOE
    DINNER: 1 PIECE OF CHICKEN, GREEN SALAD WITH LEMON DRESSING

    2ND DAY:
    BREAK FAST: 1 CUP OF TEA
    LUNCH: 1 PIECE OF CHICKEN, 200ML LOW FAT YOGURT
    DINNER: 1PIECE OF CHICKEN,GREEN SALAD WITH LEMON DRESSING

    3RD DAY:
    LUNCH: 2 BOILED EGGS,1 PIECE OF CHICKEN, GREEN SALAD OF LEMON DRESSING
    DINNER : CELERY,1CARROT,200 ML COTTAGE CHEESE

    4TH DAY:
    LUNCH: GRAPE FRUIT JUICE, YOGURT LOW FAT 200ML
    DINNER : ONE HARD BOIL EGG,CARROTS,COTTAGE CHESSE

    5TH DAY
    LUNCH: 1 BOILED OR GRILLED FISH
    DINNER: 1 PIECE OF CHICKEN,GREEN SALAD WITH CELERY

    6TH DAY
    LUNCH: one hard boiled egg n carrot...
    DINNER: one piece of chiken breast...green salad with same dressing

    LUNCH: NOTHING
    DINNER: 1 PIECE OF CHICKEN N FRESH FRUITS

      you can read all about the food that you can and can not eat in the forum.
      If you starting with phase ! Induction you can not have fruit or cottage cheese.

          yes i am reading but there is no fixed plan, i mean are you supposed to make the plan (diet plan) yourself for the induciton phase?

          ummmmmm, no fruits or cottage cheese right, anything else?

            Hi Mummy. I have had a look at your menu and unforunately there is a lot of stuff that you are consuming that you shouldnt be.

            Also, on a number of those days you say that you don't eat breakfast. That is one of golden rules on Atkins. Breakfast is highly important. Also, you shouldnt be drinking tea either.

            I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

              Ok, you've got a plan. With some tweaking, you can position yourself to do much better and enjoy induction. As richt posted, visit those threads to see what the acceptable foods are.

              The caffeine in the tea may slow your weight loss down. Just be aware that it's possible. Also, artificial sweeteners like aspartame are not recommended. Splenda is, but one packet counts as 1 carb. During induction you should be eating no more than 20 grams of carbs per day. You can use www.fitday.com to keep track of your food. It's a big help.

              Atkins is a high fat WOE, which is counterintuitive, but it works. You need to eat more fat than what you will get from chicken chicken chicken. Too much protein can turn into glucose and keep you out of ketosis. Ketosis is where you body burns fat for energy instead of sugar. That is what you want.

              Your goal during induction should be 20 grams of carbs spread across 3 meals. That's 3 cups of salad OR 2 cups of salad and 1 cup of the approved non-salad veggies. Also, striving for a 65/30/5 ratio of fat/protein/carbs will help your induction greatly. Fitday will calculate it for you.

              It's tricky the first few days, but you will get the hang of it in no time. Drink plenty of water, too. At least 64 oz per day.

                You need to be eating breakfast every day.
                Breakfast jumpstarts your metabolism so it can get on with it's job-burning fat!
                So find something you enjoy eating in the morning that is Induction safe, and eat your breakfast.
                Go to the 14 Day Induction forum and read up on all the stickies in there, and in the other forums as well (Main would be good, as would Extended Induction)
                There's a FAQ forum and a Most Memorable Posts forum as well.

                      thanks alot yes i'll see to that, but you knw i ant eat any other form of meat, maybe only chicken and mutton, veggies work great for me, so you mean i eat 3 cups pf salad with meat or w/o meat?

                        It is 3 cups of salad or 2 cups of salad plus 1 cup of veggies for the entire day. Veggie intake is not related to how much meat you eat.

                            That meal plan on the Atkins board is not 'by the book' Induction-friendly so we discourage folks from following it.
                            The book has specific food lists to follow and that meal plan doesn't follow those lists...it allows grains and frankenfoods. Somewhere along the line, after Dr. Atkins passed on, Atkins Nutritionals took their own direction and pretty much modified things so they can push their products.
