  • How am I doing so far guys?

    Okay, i've been doing atkins for about two days now. i've researched alot before i did it and i hope my menu is up to standard, if not would anybody be able to help me out that would be great

    A normal day
    Breakfast: an omelette
    Two slices of ham
    2 cooked sausages
    2 scrambled eggs
    a pinch of cheese
    1 tbsp of mayo

    Lunch: Sausage and Veg
    3 sausages
    1 cup of broccoli

    Dinner: Beef Burger and veg (not processed)
    2 Beef burgers
    Pinch of cheese
    1 cup of Salad or broccoli
    1tbsp of mayo

    and i use the frying pan to cook alot of things, am i right in doing this? I use a frying spray with no carbs xx

    Frying spray? What is that? Sounds like a weight watcher thing. I use bacon fat, olive oil or butter - depending on what it is. You want the fat.

    Sausages = you're eating quite a few. Can you go through the list of ingredients to check that there is sugar, dextrose or fillers in them.

    Also you want to eat 3 cups of veggies and a variation here is good.

    What are you drinking?

    It looks pretty good and clean so far (if the sausages are good)

      I drink about 2-3 litres of water a day, should I cut this down as I dont want to retain water?

      I've checked the sausages and they're fine, I may add some bacon into my menu though?

        Drink plenty of water. Atkins recommend at least 64 oz (almost 2 litres) and more is better.
        You're lucky with the sausages. I cannot find any here that are Atkins friendly.

          No I only drink water
          What about eggs, I love omlettes I could literally have two a day
          is it bad to have 4-6 eggs a day?

            No not bad at all. Eggs are goodness and very healthy. On induction I eat quite a few. The bacon is fine too. But with everything processed you will have to look at that ingredient list carfeully.

            How are you doing? This is day three? Exciting isn't it.

              Yeah this is the first diet I'm really excited about. I no longer crave sugar, but I don't know if I've entered ketosis yet. I'm still trying to get my head around it

                You may feel it when it happens. I can usually tell because my appetite goes down, my pee smells and breath smells. And I have plenty of energy

                        I looked for some breakfast sausage today and ALL of the brands at my WalMart had sugar or dextrose. Anyone know of one with no sugar?

                          I have bob evans links here in the freezer, and they say 0g sugar, but dextrose is the 5th ingredient in the list.

                          So these are a no go because of dextrose?

                            With dextrose being the 5th ingredient, you can see how they work for you.

                            As you see though, the label is "lying" about the 0 sugar!

                            You should count 0.5 carb per serving, at least, to account for the sugar and the spices.
