    Re: Checking on those 5'7"

Sorry for not posting back again. I guess I dont check my email enough, though Im always on this board and have this as my home page. After seeing this post I decided to actually measure myself. Doc said 5 6.5. HAHAHAHAHA. He must need glasses. Im 5 5.5. oopsie. But anyways, I guess Im here now lol. Hope you dont mind. Im doing good. I had a couple slips, not bad ones. Just a squash thing I was unsure of that put me over 2 carbs. So I guess Im not doing so bad. I am MAKING sure I dont do that again. My hubby kind of does his own thing to lose weight and it works great for him, and wont do anything else. I guess why fix whats not broken. Anyway, hope youre still going strong. I started some other videos I had around the house because our weather has not been the greatest, so Im hoping to start the running soon.

      Re: Checking on those 5'7"

I'm 5'7" and I'm shooting initially for 155. Probably 150 ultimately. But, this depends entirely on your age too. I'm almost 56. When I was in my 30s I was 135, in my 40s 145 was a good weight. Most scales say the top end for me at my age is 159. And, it also needs to consider your bone structure. I consider myself large boned so I opt for the higher end of the scale. I will never be tiny no matter how much weight I lose. It also doesn't help that I have inherited my family's large bust size (D) and losing all the weight hasn't changed that much. I swear that accounts for a good 10 extra pounds.

I'd love to hear from others that are in the 5'7" range, too, especially those over 40 or so.

        Re: Checking on those 5'7"

        Good afternoon everyone!

Nice to hear from you schellie and iwritedocs!

I try and keep reminding myself that if I would have done this last year, I'd probably be at my goal now. So, if I do this now, next year I'll be HAPPY that I reached my goal and will be so glad I got it over with and can concentrate on other things in my life instead of obsessing about my weight all the time.

The swelling in my feet and ankles are half of what they were (yeah!) and I plan to start exercising Saturday. My goal is to do one week at 30 minutes, then the next few weeks at 60 minutes and try to move ahead to 90 minutes per day until I hit my goal. Then I may taper back to the 60 minutes a day for maintenance.

I think when I measured my wrist I was considered medium boned. I have set a short-range goal and am undecided about my final one. It will be somewhere from 140 - 160; depending on where I feel my best.

Thanks for responding everyone. I love to read your posts!

          Re: Checking on those 5'7"

I know what you mean, kkat. I remember clearly last year thinking to myself, I can't believe I have 35 pounds to lose. It will never happen. And now, a year later, 30 of those pounds are gone (forever). So, when I find myself obsessing about the last few pounds now, I keep remembering the 30 pounds so that I will put it all in perspective.

And, to comment on someone else's post, even though I am still over 160, I now fit in a size 10 pants. Which ten years ago I barely did at 145... The difference I think is the exercise I'm doing now.

I'm trying to get myself organized so that I can now start the C25K program which I hope will get rid of the last 10 more quickly than just doing Curves 3x a week. I did W1D1 two weeks ago and haven't done any more since.

            Re: Checking on those 5'7"

Isn't that amazing how you can wear a smaller size, but weigh more. It is exciting that you are so close to goal. Maybe you could start a thread about "those last 5 - 10 pounds" and get some other people's input on how they finally lost those last pesky pounds.

I was telling my husband about this (same weight; smaller size) a while back and he thought it was the exercise too. But, man, I was in high school...how much more active could you get?

Anyway, I'm anxious to see if this time I get in a smaller size or I was just destined never to be smaller than a tight 13 or comfy 14.

            Thanks for posting!

              Re: Checking on those 5'7"

I think a thread about the last 5-10 lbs would be great! They say the last few are the hardest to lose... I wonder why? Either we are pushing our bodies harder... or we are more comfortable with our weight and don't have as much motivation! I think I had the most drive around...190. I had lost 50lbs at that point.

                ANOTHER QUESTION:
What size shoe does everyone wear? There are 2 ladies in my class that are about my same height and weight. They wear a size 10/11 shoe and I wear an 8! I wonder if that means I am smaller boned? I always thought I had big feet - LOL!

                  (giggle) This cracks me up!!

Sad to say...I wear an 11 and it is very hard to find cute shoes. When I was in my mid 30's I switched from a 10 to an 11 when the shoe salesman told me I needed a longer shoe due to the muscles in our foot elongating after the age of 25. (I thought my foot was just wider and my shoes were hurting...)

I have found a couple pair of pretty flip flops to wear this summer from Avon. But most of the time everything nice only goes to a size 10. (sniff) Don't they think women with longer feet need stylish shoes too?

Thanks for asking this. I'm interested in seeing everyone's shoe size. (I always wondered if I was the only one my height who had long feet.)

                    I wear a 9 - 9 1/2 depending on the shoe.

I think that Payless offers a lot of cute styles for longer feet. One of the ladies in my class shops there a lot.

                        Hello-
Newbie here. I started Atkins on Sun. July 31. I am 5'7". I am shooting for 165 and see how that looks and go from there.
Anyone have suggestions about exercise? Is morning or evening better and should I start off with just cardio? I have a hard time keeping to any complicated (or not complicated routine). Also, I have been smoke free for 25 days. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm 5'7 3/4"...my goal weight is currently 140 and I'll be happy if I get there. I'm dreaming a little dream of 130, though. I looked really good at that weight back when I was 19!

my goal weight is 120ish. i have gotten down to 142 at my smallest and was spilling over my size 8s just a little.

i carry all my weight in my tummy so just alittle chub looks like a lot.

                              Re: Checking on those 5'7"

I started Atkins exactly two weeks ago and I'm 5 ' 7 1/2". My goal weight is 125. So far I've lost 16 pounds.

I have never weighed less than 140 because I've always been "built like a farmer" as my great-grandfather used to say. This weight is my ultimate dream, but who knows what will happen when I get closer to it.

My mother and my sister were horrified when I told them, but there's always been a lot of sibling rivalry between my skinny sister and I, so it may just be that she wouldn't like it if I was thin like her. My shoe size is 9.

                                Re: Checking on those 5'7"

I am 5'8" and I have been as low as 135, but in all honesty, now that I am older I would prefer to be 140. At this moment I am 155, after having gained about 5 lbs over the summer, but I have been as heavy as 200.

After eating low carb for over 2 years now, the last 10-15lbs are pestering me, but I am not all that activated over them. To tell you the truth, I am more activated over having gained 5 lbs than that I have not yet reached my true goal.

Even at 150 though, I can wear mini skirts and feel comfortable in them...

                                hope this helps!
Admitting...on April 2010 I have been eating low carb for almost 7 years and the lowest I got to was 145. These last couple of years though I got lazy, and over the course of time, gained back up to almost 170. I am back on induction, a week into it now on 4/22/10, doing excellent and seeing results. Once again, my weight goal is 140.

I just don't have the heart to change the stats below, except I am NOW 46yrs.
