    Re: Checking on those 5'7"

Linda: 160 looks really good on you. I hope it looks as good on me! I'm about an inch shorter than you and I swear I carry all my weight in my thighs. lol

      Re: Checking on those 5'7"

I'm closer to 5'8", but technically (according the military anyway!) I'm 5'7 3/4". Can I join this thread?

My final goal is to weigh 150, I think. I weighed about 132 when I met my dh 17 1/2 years ago, but we found some pics from that time recently and I didn't even recognize myself!! I asked dh, "Who is that skinny girl sitting next to you?". He said, "That's YOU!" My reply, "That can't be me! That girl doesn't have any b**bs!!!" When we got married about a year later I was up to about 150 (darn dorm pizza!). Looking back at my wedding pics I think I looked skinny (but at least my b**bs had come back!). So anyway, 150 is my final goal.

My next major goal (now that I've made it ONEDERLAND) is to weigh less than my dh. He was a really skinny little thing when I met him and I have never, EVER weighed less than him. He currently weighs between 165-168 lbs.

        Good Afternoon!

Yeah! It is almost time to knock off work and fly home!! Yippee!!

Well, one of my first goals (now that you bring it up) is to weigh less than my husband!!! He is around 195 right now, but when we met he was about 175 (eek!) I really didn't like knowing he weighed less than me!! But, that is something that is motivational, ay?

My husband is 185 and muscular. When I reach goal, I'd like to look small beside him instead of close to the same size.

            Getting closer every day!

                Re: Checking on those 5'7"

I'm 5'7" and my goal weight is 120 lbs. I chose that because it was a good weight when I was younger.... at 115 - 120 pounds I look slim and attractive. Even after having kids I kept that weight in my 20's...

I kept slim until I turned 30 and then I started packing on the pounds.... I didn't seem to care.....but at 35 years old I went on a crash diet... low calorie and no fat...lots of exercise and I got back to my weight of 119 pounds...

but I kept it off only a few years... by not eating enough.. when I did eat I put on weight.... very frustrating.... all the weight was back by the time I was 45 years old.....

I crash dieted again... low cal.. no fat..... and went back down to 120!

Not for long ...kept most of it off probably 3 - 5 years.... but by age 55 it was all back on....!!!!

I was not going to diet again! I was resigned to being heavy....But I ran into a friend who had lost a lot of weight very quickly and looked great. He told me about Atkins and that he is never hungry...eats steak, salad with dressing, bacon & eggs......

So I gave it a try.... did well... but I cannot get down to 120 pounds! I guess I am simply eating too many calories and too much fat...
I weigh 135 today... weighed 131 a few months ago.....
I look good.. feel great.... but I still would like to get to my original weight...
I think the only way I can get thin.....slim... must be very low calorie and less fat...... not the Atkins way... but then eating fat is not allowing me to lose that last little bit of body fat....

So... I am stalled...... have not decided what to do.....

                    Re: Checking on those 5'7"

Hey I am 5'7... I have my goal weight set at 165 because that is one of the healthiest weights I can remember myself at even though my BMI will still be out of the normal range... oh well. It is what I weighed when I got out of basic training. Because of my body type at 165 everyone thought I weighed about 140,shoot at 227 now noone believes I weigh more than 190 or so.... SO I think your goal weight is all based on your body type....

here is me now to show my point....

That is my height and I tried to do a search on that height just to see where everyone started and where they are now.

If you want to post your experience, I'd love to read it. It is nice to find others the same height.

I am the same way... the last time I lost weight.... I was working 3rd shift, eatinga stacker two every night, throwing 400 pieces of frieght, and then crashing in the AM... hardly ate anything at all.... Kept it off for a few months until my miscarraige and then I piled it ALL back on, plus some. ANyway... When I lost that weight everyone was like you'lllose your chest becuase I had been a 36 B since I got boobs, until I gained my weight intially. Then I went to a 42 d or DD depending on the bra.... And I didn't lose a SINGLE BIT of it

When I was in my 30s I was 135, in my 40s 145 was a good weight. Most scales say the top end for me at my age is 159. And, it also needs to consider your bone structure. I consider myself large boned so I opt for the higher end of the scale. I will never be tiny no matter how much weight I lose. It also doesn't help that I have inherited my family's large bust size (D) and losing all the weight hasn't changed that much. I swear that accounts for a good 10 extra pounds.

I'd love to hear from others that are in the 5'7" range, too, especially those over 40 or so.

Yes, that is good that you set your own goals and not try to live up to others' expectations -- that way you can be happy and not always strive to please everyone else.

I had friends in high school who were the same height as me, yet weighed 123. I could never be that weight -- it just isn't in me and leads to frustration. If I could be 140 - 150, I'd be estatic.

I will be dancing for joy when I finally reach 150!! I think it is different for everyone too. We all have different body types; a little more weight looks great on some people while it looks "chubby" on others. I can wear a size 8-10 at 165 and look long and lean, but I would just LOVE to be a size 6!

IF you are having trouble losing the last few pounds, maybe you should do low fat Atkins. I have not tried it personally, but I'm sure there are some people who could give you some advice on the boards.

It is also odd how we all can be the same height, yet wear different sizes.

When I was in my early 20's and around 140 pounds, I wore a 13/14. Yet, I know other people who weighed the same and could wear a size 10. It is odd how we can be similar, yet so much different. I don't ever think I could be smaller than the 14 at goal weight.

I measured my wrist and according to the charts I'm a medium build. However, once I gained this weight it now says that I'm a large build. But, I'm going by the medium since I did it orginally closer to my goal weight.

Except it wouldn't be Atkins then!!!

Have you had your body analysed properly to find your present BMI to see if it is healthy for you to be lighter? You might be aiming at too low a weight, and your body is being reluctant to drop lower than what is right for you.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
