Just curious about those who are 5'7" -- what have you set for your goal weight? How are you doing?

That is my height and I tried to do a search on that height just to see where everyone started and where they are now.

If you want to post your experience, I'd love to read it. It is nice to find others the same height.

    Re: Checking on those 5'7"

I am 5'7 and have a goal weight of 150. But I may eventually try for 140. I am 25 yrs old and I believe that someday it can happen!

    I began at 240...
My original plan was to lose 30 lbs or so...
When I reached 190 I decided to go for 175...
When I reached 175 I decided to go for 165...
    Then 160...
    Now 150...
    Maybe 140? (100lbs total)

Wow speckle, you're doing fantastic! (Especially trying to quit smoking too.)

You've done so well I feel that you will reach your goal -- like you've done with the rest of the program. You know how to do it and the only way you won't reach it is if you go off.

      Keep up the good work!

Isn't it exciting to feel your clothes getting looser each week and getting lighter and lighter. It is nice to look back at this time last year or even last month and see how far you've come.

      Thanks for the note!

        Re: Checking on those 5'7"

I'm setting an initial goal of 160, which is over 100 lbs to lose. But perhaps as I near it I'll lower that. I'm already thinking in the 150's, since then my BMI will be in the "healthy" range. Not that I'm concerned about that, I'm more concerned about how in shape I am as I near 160. If I'm happy there, then I'll stick.

          Thanks carbcounter999 for the reply.

Right now I'm just concentrating on getting to 200. I was just thinking the other day that I've been over 200 pounds for almost 10 years now. Wow! I can't believe I let it go that long. (Of course there were circumstances where I didn't care anymore...but that is in the past now.)

It is nice to find other low carbers the same height so we can all end up in the same weight range (hopefully).

I haven't lost that much in the recent past... only about 15 lbs in the past year. I lost the bulk of my weight right after I started in March 2003. I am looking forward to that "feeling" again - getting smaller and smaller...

I weighed today and was actually UP a few pounds. It's time to get on the ball!

Hello, I am 5'7" as well and I am shooting for between 145-135. Any number in between would be great. I am losing inches much easier than weight, but I know in time the weight will come off too. ( at running 30 miles a week it darn well better!) Great job with the loses so far keep it up ladies.

Hello texwife&mom! How's the weather in Texas?

I'm from Louisiana and am enjoying the cooler weather here in TN (instead of having nine months of HOT weather we only have about three or four).

Wow! How long did it take you to get to 30 miles in a week?

Hi. It is HOT!!!! I run at 5 am to beat the heat (and to get it done before my children wake up) I have been running for about 10 weeks. I did Tae Bo for about 2-3 months prior to that. I started with two miles and gradually worked my way up. I am training for a half marathon (13.1) in November. This morning I ran 8 miles (Sunday is my "long" run) I will rest tomorrow and Tue-Fri I will run 5.5 miles per day. 8+ (4x5.5) =30 You should check out the exercise forum. I get all of my inspiraton from Betty, Jim, Sarah and the others there. Stay cool!

                      texwife&mom,

It is inspiring to see how far you've come with your exercise! I will begin mine in the morning and will browse through the exercise thread like you suggested.

                          Re: Checking on those 5'7"

Nope, not a runner yet, but hope to be as soon as I get my weight down low enough (below 200) so it doesn't hurt my joints.

I was pretty active in my 20's with aerobics and was full of energy. In my 30's I went through a divorce and the death of my Mom at the same time...so at that point in my life nothing mattered and that's when I started to really gain weight. Four years later my Dad died...more weight. Then I met a wonderful guy and my life has turned around for the better. My 30's were sad & blurry and now my 40's I'm waking up to a new future.

So, I feel the best is yet to come!

                              Hi schellie!

Thanks for the link. I just opened it in another window and will look at it after I finish typing this.

I also wanted to ask you how you were doing. I noticed that you started Induction last Thursday.
