Re: Weight-loss stall?? -- try this

I wish a mod would deal with this post and the poster.

The recommendations are against Dr. Atkins' advice and they couldn't apply to the vast majority of people on this board, who aren't on the fruits rung yet. Not to mention that veggie JUICES (and fruit ones) aren't recommended because of the lowered fiber content.....

        Coffee enemas:

        grounds for intestinal discomfort
        an evacuation you've urned
doesn't amount to a hill of beans
        Good to the last drop
        Sanka mean one
        Folgers over and get ready
        Has a few percs
        One lump or two?

        Shall I stop now?

Here's the info the establishment puts out on the Gerson Diet:
The Gerson diet is a very strict low salt, organic fruit and vegetable diet. Each person must drink 20 pounds (about 9 kilos) of crushed fruit and vegetables each day. Gerson therapists believe that people with cancer have too much salt in their bodies compared to the amount of potassium they have. They think that eating large quantities of fruit and vegetables will correct this imbalance and cleanse the liver. The idea is that the liver would then start to clear the body of cancer cells. It would be nice if the liver could filter out cancer cells from the body. If it did, this would certainly be an avenue of conventional cancer research.
Everything from types of cancer, possible causes, tests, treatments, clinical trials and coping. We have all information about cancer to help.

HOLY CRUD - 20 pounds of fruits of vegetables!!! Talk about the glycemic overload... To say nothing of the coffee enemas...

Ok everyone jump on....c'mmon it's easy! However, I believe I have truth on my side. I have a father-in-law who was once on his deathbed, yet fully recovered and became totally cancer-free. Also, my wife and I are down to our optimal weights using a relaxed version of this plan....not to mention all the other health benefits I mentioned earlier.

And by the way, I was not suggesting people on this board do the Gerson therapy. This is a very constrictive way of life for people who are very sick. I was simply suggesting more vegetables and fruits as opposed to meats and low-carb pre-packaged foods. S

Actually, that's known as anecdotal evidence.

                More anecdotal evidence

This is a very constrictive way of life for people who are very sick.
                Based on anecdotal evidence.

No offense, but this an anecdotal hootenanny.

And it really isn't Atkins, but a tweakage thereof.

                Best wishes to you.

Re: Weight-loss stall?? -- try this

I stayed on my optimal weight for about 15 years. I ate waffles drenched in butter and sugary syrup every day for breakfast. And very little fruit or veggies. Mostly carbs.

My stepmother recovered from bladder cancer while eating kugel every single day.

My father in law survived a brain tumor eating only mexican food and chipped beef on toast.

During my pregnancy with my third child, the only thing I could keep down for 6 months was cocoa krispies. I ate a bowl every 3 hours. She turned out fine. I only gained 18 lbs during the pregnancy.

I lost 8 lbs after having my wisdom teeth pulled by drinking only jamocha shakes from Arby's.

My oldest son (now 21 years old) once ate nothing but grilled cheese sandwiches for a month. He remained at his optimum weight but has never really liked cheese since.

A teacher in the classroom next to mine at my old school went out of remission from breast cancer. She is still alive, and eats jelly beans for lunch.

I can tell lots of great stories about people who are alive, healthy, thin, and eat weird stuff.

Let's go. I'd like to hear some more! C'mmon I want to hear ALL the people on this board bash the outrageous fruits and vegetable advice! In the meantime, just keep on filling your stomachs with low-carb tortillas, diet cookies and sugar-free chocolates!

Not all of us eat those low carb things.

And you c'mon....this is an Atkins Bulletin Board so we have the right to ask people not to post about non-Atkins diets....it's simple...it has nothing to do with anything else.

More logical fallacies, including the "if/then" fallacy, and the hasty generalization fallacy.

I think, at this point, it is pretty clear that the poster isn't interested in Atkins so much as castin fallacies to the wind for his own amusement.

                          wannabe,

You must have missed the part where I said I was NOT advising the Gerson therapy.

By the way, if you DONT eat those things I mentioned (pre-packaged low-carb items) what ELSE do you eat besides meat, veggies and fruits?

Right but why bring up this diet at all on an Atkins Bulletin Board?

I'm on extended induction. I eat meat, cheese and certain veggies only and I've been eating this way since May of this year.

Eggs. I eat eggs, cheese, and veggies. Ocasionally I eat meat.

I have never touched a pre-packaged low carb product in my life.

The very fact that someone professing to know about the Atkins woe would post messages alleging that we eat pre-packaged low-carb products is laughable and indicates a fundamental failure to ever read any of the posts on this board. We eat fresh, natural foods. Not frankenfoods.
