yeah I'm part of the club too
under 30
I need to loose about 15-20 pounds
I just finished induction today
but I'm scared to weight myself
I'm afraid that it won't translate on the scale
I'm not sure if I'll have to stay on induction for a few more weeks
Whatever number the scale shows will help you work out if you are resistant to weightloss and hence allow you to make a good guess at your likely CCLL.
As to staying on induction for longer, I would suggest not. Those with more to lose than 50 pounds according to Dr Atkins benefit from a long induction or those with messed-up metabolisms.
So move on to the main weightloss stage of Atkins now you are done with induction and start adding carbs in the order shown in DANDR.

I think I got my starting weight wrong
with the scale
I think my starting weight was
155 and now
I'm 147
so that's an 8 pound loss
not bad
but I wanted to be under 145
Maybe you can add some info to your signature to help others give you relevant advice. We really need to know your height and gender and your start/current/goal weights.
To make this appear on all your posts so people dont have to keep asking for that info you need to click on the 'User CP' link and then on 'edit signature' and write it down in the text box and then save it.
As described in DANDR Chapter 13 someone with less than 20 pounds to lose who loses 8 pounds on 14 day induction has a low resistance to weightloss and should move on to OWL, someone with between 20-50 to lose would be in the 'medium' resistance bracket and also should move on to OWL.

I just want to loose the weight quickly
and then maintain
My first time on Atkins in 2003 - I thought the same way. In practice, losing the weight was easy...maintaining without going properly through OWL and premaintenance? not so much. OWL is ONGOING WEIGHT LOSS - the weight loss continues - it doesn't stop - extended induction does NOT necessarily = faster loss - that's a common misconception. There are LOTS of stories just like mine - those who lose all the way to goal without learning the lessons of OWL and premaintenance find it VERY HARD to maintain. Without learning those things, the natural inclination is to revert to old habits since there are no new habits in place...and if anyone goes back to the old ways, well, we all know that's what got us here to begin with.
I hope you will take this as helpful because that is the spirit in which I am putting it out there. Atkins works - but we all need to trust what Dr. Atkins laid out in this plan and follow his guidelines in order to see it work.
Best wishes to you for success!

When you have a smaller amount of weight to lose, it can take a little longer to come off. My highest weight was in the mid 150's, I started atkins at 146 (afterloseing some on low fat/low cal). I also lost around 8 lbs on induction, 12 lbs in the first month, then it was quite slow after that. I tried staying on extended induction, but then hit a stall, so I moved onto OWL and this helped break the stall. Staying on induction doesn't necessarily mean you will lose weight faster.
It took me 10 months to reach my goal of 125, the last 5-10 lbs came off the slowest. It was worth the wait.
Like Ellen and Kylie have said it is a very good idea to move onto OWL. I found that since this was going to be a way of life for me, knowing what foods I could tolerate and knowing what I can take my carb level too is now, 3 yrs later, information I could not live without! Maintenance is also alot of work, and having gone through the rungs can be a lifesaver.

Kylie is 100% right on. I know how you feel, because that's how I felt the first time! I wanted to lose it all fast, I was sick of being overweight. So I really didn't do it right. I went to the berries rung of OWL, kept my carbs low to lose weight fast, never found my CCLL, and never re-introduced all the foods that I would eventually want to eat. That works for temporary weight loss, but I wouldn't recommend it for permanent weight loss!
My new motto is I want to lose the weight properly, so I CAN maintain!!
By the way, properly can still mean quickly, at least for the majority of the weight. I only started a month ago, and I've lost inches and weight fast even though I am properly going through the rungs of OWL. When I've reached 5 pounds away from goal, I plan to start PM and slow it down.
