When I was staying in Mass. there was a coffee shop in this little town of Carver. It was called Carver Java. When the locals said it, it rhymed. When I said it, it did not so much! It was the cutest little thing!! Mmmmm... it reminded me of the killer cranberry relish the diners would put on the tables during cranberry harvest. *drool* That was a cool little town.

Please, forgive my mispronunciation... I humble my southern self before your temple of Lobstah Chowdah eatin' goddesses.....
My mouth is watering... I mean, fer real dawg...

                    WHAT!?!?!?!
                    Willow Tree isn't ATKINS FRIENDLY!?
What's in it that makes it not!?
                    Oh my heart is broken!

I grew up mostly in East Providence though after my parents split we were a bit nomadic. I stayed weekends with my dad and he mostly lived in northern RI. Foster, Smithfield, Burreville, Pawtucket and finally Warren. I lived with my mom and went to school in EP, Smithfield (old country rd for first grade), Providence and then back to EP, until we moved to Seekonk, MA in my junior year of HS. I went to BCC in Fall RIVAH for college.
The Hill is awesome Heidi...you can't beat the Italian food. Everyone makes a big stink out here about North Beach in SF and I just don't get it. I'm like...you need to go to Federal Hill, alright?
Big Props to anyone who knows about Spring Lake too. I'll be going there!
And MamaGlass I didn't percieve anything negative about your post. I'm almost positive you're right, actually. Sometimes the fantasizing about it is more fun! Then you have it in front of you and you're like....nevermind.
I think I'll be doing a lot of splitting things with people...but the lobster? I'll take 2 please.

                    P.S.
All my Rhode Island people need to go to my parents restaurant on Hope Street called Oak. My stepdad makes a perfect piece of meat everytime and they are always willing to modify your dish with whatever sides you want. You can usually catch my mom up front running around like a maniac. She looks like my older skinnier sister (she used to weigh the same as me and lost all hers with Jenny Craig)
They used to own Downcity Food and Cocktails also, but sold it last year. I was so wierded out when I heard it burned down!

I was so disapointed in North Beach I can not tell you!!! I love Providence ...and will never ever find a better place to go visit and shop for my homestyle cooking ..I am taking an extra bag for all my groceries I need to have here in Seattle...

you can eat your way around the world in this area ..but Italain food does not get better than it does in Providence RI!!! I wonder if Coop is looking here she has some silly idea Jersey is the place for Italian ..go figure

3 more days and I will be there

I have to practice my dialect or people will think I am a tourist you know

It's funny with the dialect. My parents were both born and raised there. My dad went to school here in Cali though...UC Santa Cruz (go banana slugs!? wtf?). He has his degree in English literature, so he never let me or my brother get carried away with the Rhode Island-eese. People usually can't peg where I'm from until I say "That's WICKED funny!" or the word "drawers" (drawas). Otherwise I can fake a really strong one very well.
It's funny I had to call the New Bedford Supreme Court a while back to explain that I had moved (they called me for jury duty) and I called all my coworkers over to hear the message that plays when you call:
"This is Mahk SantOS of the Neww Bedfid Cownty Soopreme Couwt. Weah opin Mondiy thru Fridiy..."
They were laughing their asses off.
Maybe you should pick up a copy of the RI Dictionary while you're there and bring it home so you can keep up on your language skils?

When Heidi? I worked there from the day it opened until the day I moved (April 11th 2005) Maybe I was your waitress too!
At the very least I probably know who your server was.
