    Re: sugar free red bull

SF Red bull has 2 ingredients not allowed on induction which are caffeine and aspartme (which is a sugar substitute), which atkins is really against. Every individual is different. Some will loose weight regardless, others won't. Some might stall or slow down the weight they loose per week and others get no side effects.

It is about how dedicated you are to sticking to the "Rules", how in rush you are to loose weight and How badly you need it.

Okay coming from someone that could guzzle TWO giant red bulls in one day (regular) I would say nay on that! The Sugar Free (and regular) are just full of all sorts of crap that you do not need in your body! Believe me I have a tough time passing them in the grocery store/convenience store every time I see it! I'd vote for the coffee instead.

I can't live without my caffeine and it has never hindered my weight loss, but the nutritional info on sugar free red bull says it has 4 carb per serving! How can this be with no sugar? It does not list sugar alchohols.

I would suggest using 5-Hour Energy if you need to make it through a graveyard shift. It contains roughly the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee but lasts much longer with no crash. It contains zero carbs, zero sugar, zero gluten, and is only 4 calories.

                  Re: sugar free red bull

The reason for the ' no caffine' rule is that is causes sugar craving in some people ( or at least thats the way i understood it)

So if you need a little extra jolt tonight .. i'd say go for the caffine .. just dont make it a regular habbit ...

                    Re: sugar free red bull

Thanks! I've tried the 5 hour energy. Not bad. I also recently discovered sugar free "rock star" no carbs!

I know it's an old thread, but I find it worth replying to because it's a topic some of us (me!) are interested in. If you're not interested - don't reply!

Excessive caffeine can cause you blood sugar levels go wacky. Cravings are just one of the symptoms of blood sugar stress. You can find the others in DANDR, Chapter 12, pp.150-151.

I'm sorry - those were the ingredients for the "Rock Star" brand.

The ingredients in red bull are: carbonated water, sodium citrate, taurine, gluarronolactone, caffine, acesulfame K, Aspartame inositol, xanthan gum, niacinamide, calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine HCL, Vitamin B12, natural and artifical flavors, colors.

Right. Then the carbohydrates come from glucuronolactone, because the stuff is derived from glucose.
