Anything that is made with splenda makes me crave sugar. This includes soda, legal treats, whatever.

Peanut butter. Don't even get me started -- even the sugar-free kinds.

Nuts! Any kind! I can't stop at one serving.

Salt makes me crave salty illegal foods.

          Cantaloupe: cravings.

Any dish that combines eggplant with tomatoes: I crave so much after this that I can eat an entire house: furnishing, bricks and roofing material.

Re: What is your trigger food?

Oh, man! Good post but where do I begin? I love sweets....so refined sugar. It's more the taste of sweet....so it could be anything, even diet, low-cal., low carb, anything sweet. After that comes bread. All bread. If I let myself, I could eat a whole loaf in a sitting. Then comes pastas, rice, potatoes, crackers, tortillas. Oh, I could go on and on. It's all emotional too. I eat for self pitty, depression, anger, frustration, bordum. Pretty much anything negative.

It's sad but some of us had parents who told us things like, "I better not hear you crying." or "Why are you mad? You don't have any right to be mad." So we just go used to shutting our outward emotions off and dealing with it some other...quieter way.

Now we are adults with eating problems we have to try to fix.

Re: What is your trigger food?

I could swim in a pool of peanut butter and not get sick of it. It's my biggest downfall... i haven't had any in about 2 weeks, it's my new personal challenge.

nuts would be next..almonds, pecans, walnuts..i've tried portioning them out but i end up eating 3 or 4 1oz portions. It's too bad because they are sooo good for you.

I made george stella's brownie recipe once and i couldn't control myself. even keeping them in the freezer didn't help. ended up having to throw them out.

the non atkins legal food i crave the most and would probably go crazy on if i had one mouthful is Kraft dinner. Yup...it's the one food i really really miss. LOL.

I don't think I had anything that has triggered me so far, but I am deathly afraid to try any type of potato because I think if I have one baked potato or sweet potato I will start to crave them. Anyone else have this problem, and if you have added potatos back in has it been a problem?

Nuts for me. I'll eat a handfull and then I need something sweet so I'll eat a little LC icecream, then I want something salty, so I'll eat a handfull or five of nuts. Oh great, now I want something sweet again so back to the freezer for a spoonfull of yummy splenda filled joy when all of a sudden (you guessed it) nutty temptations take over and here starts a vicious cycle, a feeding frenzy of neverending nutty splenda covered salty snack attack goodness.

I should just pour salt on my icecream.

Potatoes - I love 'em in any shape or form, and I just fiund it so hard to stop.

For those who have a problem with diet sodas, have a look at this article (extract below, my bolding):http://www.westonaprice.org/modernfood/aspartame.html

Dr. Walton, who has also studied the effects of aspartame, is emphatic when he tells me, "Probably one major contributor to obesity is the widespread use of diet products!" A chorus of non-conventional health professionals echoes his statement, which can just aswell be read as a warning. The reasons are not simple; they involve complex biochemical reactions linked to hormones and brain chemicals.
