    my excuse is I barely could fit into a seatbelt on a ride at an amusement park my family and I visited this last summer... To see the look of concern on my families face was enough for me to make my life better, not just for me but for them as well.

      i still like seeing posts being made to this thread. we just keep confirming the reasons to stay away from the stuff that made us fat. thanks for posting, jlyn!

        I've never been part of a fitness challenge, but would like to hear about them for pushups, situps or walking, since those are the limit of my facilities at this time.

          jim, around here, you can find just about anything as far as a challenge goes, to help you, whatever level you are at!

          there is a pedometer challenge, pushups and abs that would all work for you! things are winding down since we are in our last week of december but almost all the challenges will be renewed and new threads will be popping up during the week for the january challenges.

              Another good challenge I have found to be the 6 Week Excercise Challenge which has its own forum here http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...splay.php?f=97
              It is a challenge where we commit to doing a number of days per week of exercise of our choice and post each day when we have done it.

              It gets me going to the gym even when I dont feel like doing it so as not to be given a 'slug' on the chart!!

              As we can decide for ourselves what constitutes exercise depending on our own current fitness and activity level it is ideal for anyone starting to exercise, as we can choose the level of exercise that is within our ability to succeed in.

              If someone has been mainly sedentary up to starting the challenge their level of exercise might be to commit to walking around the block 2 days a week to start with, and if they manage that then they will succeed and be awarded a certificate of success!! And as they get accustomed to that fairly low level they can increase distance or frequency or add different exercise activities as they feel able.

              Someone who is more used to exercising might commit to running a mile or more 5 days a week if they already run that distance 4 times a week. So we each can succeed in our chosen exercise commitment and progress at our own pace without having to compete with anyone but ourself!!

                My excuses are:

                1. To LIVE. I want to be here to raise my children and then see my children raise their children.
                2. I want to love MYSELF the way I love everyone else in my life, with all my heart, no questions, and no negatives.
                3. I want to stop complaining that my back and my feet hurt, making it through a day and saying "Man I feel GREAT!"
                4. I want to look like the 17 year old girl that I used to be. I thought I was fat then but would give anything to be there now!!
                5. I do not want to be the fat friend anymore.
                6. I want to make my husband want me more then he ever has before.

                      1. I don't want to have to suck my stomach in so I don't look 5 months pregnant.
                      2. I also want to quit having trouble tying my shoes.
                      3. I want to walk up the steps without almost wanting to collapse.
                      4. I'm tired of my boyfriend playing with my chin fat like its silly putty.
                      5. I'm tired of getting depressed and pathetic because I feel fat.

                        I am in the beginning stages, but I really want to post on this thread.

                        Excuses:
                        I will stop wearing my husbands t-shirts as daily attire.
                        I will be able to look in my reflection when walking past a store window and not cringe.

                        I will be able to wear a bathing suit instead of bringing my kids to the pool fully clothed with the excuse that I just got off work.

                        I will be able 'do things' with hubby more comfortably...like the good ole' days. tee hee

                        I want to jog again! I want to live again! I want my sexy back.

                          i love this thread! i love reading what excuses y'all have for not eating the junk and staying on plan!

                          i'm doing some reading on hormonal changes and the more i get into it the more thankful i am for eating the sugar and fattening bakery goods.

                            WAIT I FORGOT MY BIGGEST excuse!!!

                            I WANT ONE more little one. I have two boys and craving another baby, but I KNOW I cannot and will not have an easy pregnancy if I don't get this weight off.

                            How could I have forgotten that one. It's the most important excuse.

                              I second this one! Its actually one of my "NOWS THE TIME" realization moments. I transfered from one campus at work to another, and there isn't an easily positioned elevator so I now climb two flights to get to my cube.

                              And every morning, I have to stop secretly for a second at the top landing and try to grasp air again so I can rush to my cube without HEAVING past everyone along the way.

                                I didn’t know I had so many reasons, this is a good idea. I told a co-worker about this, I hope it helps him like it has me. To write them all down feels good.
                                1. I don’t want to have weight related health problems (diabetes, heart disease, bone spurs in my feet, back problems)
                                2. I want to look like the me I picture in my head
                                3. I don’t want my thighs to touch
                                4. I want to be able to kick butt, learn martial arts. When I go see action movies, look like the main character, not the person who gets eaten by the monster.
                                5. I want to wear clothes I want instead of what I need to make me look better.
                                6. I don’t want my family to worry about me because of my weight
                                7. I want to be able to eat around people
                                8. I want to want to have my picture taken
                                9. I want to steal clothes out of my mom/friends closets
                                10. When I visit Tokyo, I don’t want to be a ‘fat’ American. I’m the same height, so from far away I don’t want to look different then the crowd.
                                11. I want to be able to jog a couple miles
                                12. I want to be the thinnest person in the office (everyone in the office is overweight so that’s not as hard as it sounds, and I’m the only girl)
                                13. I don’t want to be part of the US population that is overweight
                                14. I want to stop looking at other people wishing I looked like that, to be healthy and be happy with that
                                15. I don’t want to be comforted by food
                                16. When my brother gets married I want to be in the wedding and look really pretty, maybe even better than the bride.
                                I want prince charming to be able to sweep me off my feet. (he can’t pick me up if I weigh too much)
