  • Re: What excuse do you have......

    So I can...
    1. lead by example- We want our kids to grow up with active, healthy role models. We didn't -which is part of the reason for our weight / food issues today.
    2.I like looking good!
    3. I will not turn into my mom, who a 73 needs a cane to walk, is being monitored monthly for her diabetes, cannot spend more than 3 hours with her grandkids because it tires her out, etc....
    4. I want to keep up with everything that needs to get done around here and still have energy to have fun along the way and hopefully be energetic enough to get back to some of MY hobbies ( e.g quilting)

I have moved the off-topic posts in this thread to a new thread. Those interested can continue the discussion there. Here is the link to the thread I have created: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ke-atkins.html

In here, let's stick to the original topic:

Here are two of my excuses:
        • wear short skirts
        • my family has a pretty bad medical history, so I don't want to be part of it

thanks G. i was out of pocket and not in the right frame of mind.

i had an appointment today with my gyn. oncologist today. it reaffirmed the reasons for not eating junk, especially sugar.
          sugar feeds cancer
i want to increase my risk of avoiding future cancer issues. that's a pretty good reason to not eat all the unhealthy things.

            My excuse is this

In my family it's normal to have heart disease, strokes, diabetes and their complications. I don't want to be "normal" like the rest of my family. I don't want to be stuck on multiple pills daily for my heart, my cholesterol, my diabetics, my liver, my kidneys, etc. I don't want to die of a heart attack on my way to work, as my uncles have. I don't want to spend my last years in and out of hospitals so often that everyone in the hospital knows me. I don't want to spend several hours a week hooked up to a dialysis machine because the diabetes have destroyed my kidneys. i don't want my feet cut off because my circulation is so poor from my diabetes and heart disease. I don't want that kind of a life.

I want to live longer and be healthy so i can be with the ones i love for as long as possible.

plus i love healthy foods...I think I am going to eat an apple today at the park....what a perfect fruit...yummy.

Blueberries in oatmeal? hello? there is no sugary cereal on the planet that can compete with that.

It says on page 499 of my Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution that apples contain 17.3 digestible carbs. So no not good healthy food.

Apples are allowed on Atkins once you reach OWL Rung 7. Spinky is not following the OWL Rungs in order. Those who want to follow Atkins correctly should add back foods one at a time.

I was changing my shirt infront of my daughter one day. She is 2 and a half. She just looked at my stomach and wouldn't stop looking. I felt like she was judging me. My excuse for putting down the carbs and staying away from them is because it makes my daughter happy... at least it will in the future when she see's mommy more energetic and happy about herself. To be honest I have been dealing without any sweets pretty well. The way she looked at me just made me feel terrible.
