    Hey Buddies

Just dropping in briefly. I hope everyone is doing well and is on the path to have a fantastic week!

I've had an up and down kinda day mood wise, but I think I figured that's due to making my body wait to long for food. But I've had a great day in other areas. . I fit into not one.. but two pairs of jeans that didn't fit before!!! I'm very pleased!

I spent a portion of the day reading more and more of Dr. A's book. I did 15 flights today! So that means the Millennium Dome is done, I just have to sign in there and let them know and then pick my next challenge.

Elsie - In regards to getting rid of sugar twin and replacing it with Splenda.. I don't wish for this to sound rude as it's not intended that way, but simply put I don't want to. I have researched Sug. Twn and I feel that Sug Twn is fine for the purpose of my coffee, not that I hardly even drink it anymore. I have not seen anywheres yet where Dr. A says you can't use Sug.Twn, it's just not mentioned. If it was a bad thing.. he would have said STAY AWAY FROM IT.. If severe diabetics can use it, then how can it be bad? I also like knowing I can have my coffee and not have to worry about each lil packet costing me a carb, like every one of Splenda's do. That's just my take on it.

    Have a terrific Monday everyone!

good morning everyone. just checking in before work. wasn't gonna weigh in this morning because of the cheat and also due to TOM just around the corner. decided to bite the bullet anyway and as suspected i gained back the 3 lbs i'd lost last week. not a big deal though, i knew that would probably happen. since i'm back on track now, i'm not too worried about it, i know it will come off in time.

i decided to go ahead and add back in the nut rung that i skipped so that i could get to the berries rung quicker. i had some yesterday, but will probably only eat them one more day this week. i know that they are something that i have to really be careful with. i have to make sure to buy smaller quantities of them and not buy the big bulk canister like i used to.

it's kinda weird this morning, DH is already off to work and this is usually time that i spent with Bella alone. she would always be curled up underneath the computer chair, then following me around the rest of the morning while i tried to get ready for work. it's the first time i've been alone in the house in over 12 years. i'm doing alright though, better than i thought i would be anyway.

well i hope everyone has a great day, i'm off to fix me some breakfast now, then off to work.

Elsie--Thanks Again!! and any help with my daughter's diet would be awesome and really needed!! she's still deep deep purple tho
found a new favorite for her--grilled veggie Kabob's! the combination 0f giant portabella's, yellow squash, zuch's, red and green peppers, Valdalia

Bill - Thanks for the congrats and for the idea of new clothes. However I think I'll wait a bit yet before I do that. Dh has already tried to take me shopping for a new shirt, but I wanted no part of it after last weeks incident that I had. So I asked if I could have a new purse instead. At least I don't have to try a purse on and feel like 2 ton Annie when it doesn't fit!
As for the sugar substitutes.. I give up! Seems now on some other sites that I found.. that they're all bad for us or most, and that includes Splenda! THE LETHAL SCIENCE OF SPLENDA, A POISONOUS CHLOROCARBON Maybe I shouldn't be using Sugar Twin after all, but Splenda doesn't sound much better. ~sighs~ I'm reading that maybe Stevia is the way to go, because it's a herbal sweetener it's a healthy alternative. But I recall it was pretty expensive. It's really confusing when some classify Sugar Twin to be connected with Aspartame and yet some don't? I didn't think it was.. maybe I was reading the wrong articles? Maybe.. just maybe this is why I've been suffering a migraine type headache for the past few days? Hmmm..

Elsie - I'm sorry. Maybe I was way wrong on this topic?

Anyways.. I'll be back later, as I need to take my son to school.

Re: Buddy List July 28 - Aug 3

Sassy...no apology nessecary. This is what is great about this list. The give and take. All my advice and opinions is just that...advice and opinions. People can take it or not. It is just other stuff to think about. In the end we all need to find our own way with this WOE. Whether it is me having some of DS's birthday cake and eating higher up the rungs during cousin week...Val's BF and his bun...Joe and his nuts, gum and no exercise during induction..we are all finding a way to make this work for us. My opinions and advice are based on my personal experience and from reading lots of posts here.

Dr Atkins does not mention Sugar twin by name. But he does mention that he prefers Splenda and mentions Stevia. I recommend induction done with out any artificial sweetners. To better gauge your body when you add it back in. Some of us...Joe and myself for instance...can use artificial sweetners with no apparent side effects. Others...like Val...have found that it can cause them to stall. I have Stevia in liquid form. I think it cost me $10 for a small bottle. I use one eye drop in my coffee..that is all that is needed. I also use Splenda. And right now I am sometimes using Sugar twin only because I accidently thought it was packages of Splenda...they are both yellow and it was on the shelf right under the boxes of splenda...it was expensive and I can't justify not using it. I mix it with the Splenda because I don't like the taste of it. I don't know how much you use but if your body is sensitive to it it may contribute to your migraines. I would recommend you trying the Stevia as that is a more natural replacement than the Splenda. Stevia has a slightly licorice taste to it but it is not unpleasant.

I hear you on the clothes...it would be fine if they would size them all the same...but NOOOO! With the sunburn I couldn't try anything on. I just bought what I thought would fit and if it was too small then it is going to fit soon enough anyway.

Bill...will look through my files today for Cori.

                f4n...thanks for checking in!!!

Monie...it's a different kind of quiet isn't it?? I am moving up to the nut rung myself. But since they are not something I am going to eat on a regular basis I am only staying for a week. Want to add peanut butter because it is in some recipes. And the only other time I would eat them is as a back up snack in the car for when I am driving the kids around and getting hungry.

                        Hola

I just completed my fourth day of Induction and oooooooh my god..this morning I didn't get off the couch. I was so exhuasted and my head hurt so bad. My husband kept telling me "maybe you should stop for now and get back on in a week..see if it helps". I will keep going--I know I can get through this. The only thing that I fear is getting to dizzy and passing out. It seems to get better during the day though and by the evening I'm back to normal.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Monday..I'm just counting down the days till my first official weigh-in! *crosses her fingers*

                        --Robin

PS: Has anyone else heard about using parsnips to make "french fries"? I was watching a cooking show on PBS that gave that suggestion. They looked good..but has anyone tried them?

Egads Bill...will your bad weather ever end?? I did 5 laps of the stairs before my legs got really shaky and then I was afraid that if they gave up on me I would fall. Took a rest and did the other 5. I like the going down part. The other part...not so much. But did get my heart rate elevated and a slight glisten to the skin. Am thinking maybe not to do it right after dinner tomorrow....LOL! Knees were okay.

Robin...don't listen to DH. You are going through induction flu. This is your body detoxing from all the crap you have put into it. It will last a few days and then it will go away and hopefully you will then have energy and you will start to feel not as hungry. This is where we find out who is tough enough to make it through. You can do it!!! Stay strong! You are so worth it.
