Re: Buddy List July 28 - Aug 3

Mike's posts have really got me thinking this morning. How some of us are struggling right now. And how tough in can be when something is stopping you from really commiting to this WOL. In one of my very earlier posts in this thread I said to 'Fake it 'til you make it'. That is what I have been doing lately. Since cousin week was over I guess. Eating legal but not by the rules. Meaning not being sure to get all my veggies and water in. So I was saying to myself...how can I 'fake' it even more to get me closer to plan rather than this coasting along that could easily led to falling off plan. I have had a bad week with the exercising challenge..started off good. But between forgetting once to do my second set and being so tired from the kids having a sleep over and one of the kids sick and throwing up during the night to another bout of bursting cysts yesterday which has me exhausted it has kind of gone out the window. I sat down to try and figure out how to trick myself or help myself until I am back in the game. One of the tricks I am going to do to help me get my water in is that with breakfast..and before a coffee...I need to drink 2 cups of water. Just 2. No big deal. Then I can have a coffee. If I want another coffee then I will need to drink another 2 cups of water. It is now before 11 and I have had my 4 cups of water and only 1 cup of coffee.

Hey...it's working. What else can I do? Taking more advice I had given about a DH who wasn't getting all his water in. Putting it in bottles or a jug to give me a visual about how much to drink. Hmmm...this could really work.

Now..veggies...how to make sure I get at least my 2 cups salad veggies and 1 cup other veggies? Well this morning I had a broccoli cheese quiche so that is some right there...estimating about 1/2 cup. But if that wasn't already made I wouldn't have had any...so it is in the planning. If I don't plan my meals out then I would usually grab a meat. But what if I make myself eat the veggie first?? Then I can have the meat. Like a salad before dinner kind of thing. Or veggies and dip. Sounds good in theory I think. We will see. These are going to be my first two 'fake its'. It is time to step it back up..I am starting to feel a bit excited...

I failed at understanding the power of Addiction---never having a sweet tooth I thought I was the lucky one--of coarse I was consuming all the pizza, pasta, and greasy foods I could get down-- till I was in a coma.

We are HUMAN! we are easily Addictable!
BUT--we are also fighter's!--we are educated-- enough to understand and to take action to reverse the coarse we were on! We are smart enough to reach out for help! and we are compassionate enough to reach back!
We are one for all and all for one!
I know I will see you all at the finish line.....

We all started this diet for the same-- and for very different reasons--
and the #1 thing we all share--Is that we all made the correct choice

And like Elsie--I should keep remembering and following my own quote--one I made on the first day on this board:
      [quote
The way we eat and what we eat is so very different than other diets.
The Education we recieved about the foods we are eating--or have eaten--is different from other diets also--the clear way it's laid out in the beginning all the way to lifetime maintenance is so very different from other diets. quote]

Re: Buddy List July 28 - Aug 3

hey buddies, i finally got my long week over. 11 hrs overtime this week, including the 7 hrs i worked today. today is my 2 month anniversary restarting on plan, and i feel pretty good about it. i meant to weigh myself this morning, but i was running kinda late and it slipped my mind, so i will weigh myself in the morning. hopefully by then the 3 lbs gain from last weekends debacle will be gone.

mike-focus...that's a must on this plan. if you lose focus, it's so easy to lose your way. good for you for going back to induction to regain your focus. try to stay the course, and once you reach the end of your 14 days, i strongly suggest you move on to OWL. sometime boredom with food can cause you to lose focus. once you begin climbing the rungs, should you fall off again, get back on plan where you were in the rungs and keep going. if you keep going back to induction for 2 weeks everytime you falter, it kinda becomes like a yo-yo diet. you keep going back to the beginning and never really learn how other food effect you.

Elsie- complacency.......that seems like a good word for what you are talking about. it's sometimes so hard not to become complacent. i know where you are coming from. it seems as i have been fighting off the same thing for a few weeks also. at this point i feel like i'm winning. i've been doing ok with the water, but veggies do sometimes become a struggle for me too. lately however, i seem to be making an extra effort to get them in, and now have found myself a few evening having more veggies than my fat and protein. last night, i had fresh half runners out of aunt's garden and cooked cabbage for dinner. i even found myself saying, "i feel kinda guilty not having any meat with dinner" it was sooooo good though, so the guilt didn't last long. just keep our little voices in your head saying "elsie eat your veggies" LOL you can fight through this just keep it up.

bill-you are so right.....we are easily addicted to so many things. we did indeed make the correct choice in Atkins, and with all the support we give each other we will indeed meet at the finish line. maybe not at the same time, but those that finish first can stand and cheer on everyone else and we can have a big low carb party afterwards. thank goodness this plan is different than other diets, cause i don't like feeling hungry, and i rarely ever feel hungry after a big juicy steak with a side of yummy veggies.

well, i went to the grocery store a little bit ago to get some supplies to make the stuffed peppers on the never ending recipe thread....been eyeing them all week. so i'm off to start cooking dinner. oh yeah, and i bumped the recipe thread again as it had fallen close to the bottom of the threads and i was getting tired of having to scroll down to glance at the thread everyday. don't want it to get lost in the forum.

to all those i didn't respond to from the last couple of days, i'm sorry. i hope all is going well. will check in later tonight if i can.

        monie

Wow...talk about withdrawals...the gremlins got into my modem and it wasn't working. They can't send a repair guy until Tuesday due to long weekend. I think there is a loose wire though because it is working now. I tried rebooting...unplugging...checking all the cables to make sure they weren't loose and the darn thing would not work....the neighbors son came over and fiddled and of course it worked! I hate when that happens...LOL!

            Bill and Monie...well said!!!

Sugar...well at least you go right back on right away. Good for you!

I did really good today. Working on my 12th cup of water. Did well on the veggies...MMMMMM...cabbage fried in butter with salt, pepper and cayenne...who knew it tasted so good? I really enjoyed it. Starting to feel better from the burst cysts...pain almost all gone...still tired but did go and putter out in the garden a bit. So far plan is working. One good day at a time.

            Mike...how did today go??

Re: Buddy List July 28 - Aug 3

wow the buddy room is quiet tonight. just finished getting my stability ball workout done a little bit ago. i lit some candles before my workout and the scent from them seemed to really help me focus on the workout. it was so peaceful and the first time i didn't stare at the timer every couple mins to see how long i had left to go. i had really begun to have a love hate relationship with that ball until tonight. gonna have to do that every time i use my ball.

oh yeah before i forget, i just measured myself tonight, and in just a little over 2 week down about 4 more inches. that make almost 15 inches lost since 6 week challenge started.........yahoo.....will let y'all know my weigh in results tomorrow.

have a great night all, & sweet(oops...unsweetened) dreams

Hi buds. Been a busy week for me, in training at work. Just a lot going on.
moniegail, felt the same way about my stab. ball. Then yesterday, did some crunches on it and really enjoyed it for some reason. Candles sound like a nice touch. Way to go on the inches, you are doing great. Hope you all have a nice Sunday.

                    BUDDIESSSSSSSSSSSsssss

Wow.. it seems like forever since I last posted here. So much has been going on with you all, that I don't even know where to begin.

I have to say though, hearing that you're leaving us Val is sad. I wish you, your dh, and your dd all the best!

Bill - Way to go on the 60 days/40lbs lost!

Elsie - I did see a post that said you had lost 3lbs.. awesome! The step challenge I'm part of is just like what you're doing with your stairs to the basement. I have stairs in my apt. building, so I use those instead of the elevator. Going down them doesn't count, but every 15 steps upwards counts as 1 flight. So all together I complete 3 flights when I start at the laundry room level. I could also get in 2.5 flights on the other side of the building. It can be fun, one just has to be careful. Keep it up Elsie. You're doing fantastic things!

Mike - *hugs* cause I think you need some! You can achieve your goal, you just have to refocus.

Monie - Happy to see you here. Way to go with the Stability Workout Ball! I used one of those years ago, and OMG.. it felt like I had been hit by a semi the next day!! LOL As for the inches lost... WOOOHOOO!! Way to go!

F4N - Hope the training is going well. Remember to take some time for YOU.

Well, I know I've missed some people. . . sorry. If I don't get my post done now, it won't get done as I'm getting blurry eyes from the screen. That means I'll be off here momentarily.

I apologize for not being here for the past 4 days or so. I'll try to improve that. As for me... I've been doing pretty good. I've been making new things, trying new food which I don't like doing. lol Yesterday I finally cut some pieces of the Jicama and tried it. OMG.. it's sooooooooooo good! Even my 13 year old son likes it, and today dh tried a little and he also likes it! So tonight I added 1/2 cup into my dinner and wow.. it was delicious!

July 31st was my 2 week mark, which means it was weigh-in and measurement time. I didn't fare as well as the week before, but that's ok as long as they're all loss's of some sort I'll take them. I lost 3lbs for a total of 13lbs in two weeks and 4.4 inches for a total of 13.9 inches lost in two weeks. The funny thing is I weighed myself the next day, and I was down another 3lbs! hahaha So maybe.. just maybe my next weigh-in will be even better? Ohhh and I fitted into another pair of jeans yesterday!!! I'm staying on induction for awhile, and when the time is right, I'll move upwards and onwards!

Well I think that's that at least for tonight. Have a fantabulous Sunday everyone!

Re: Buddy List July 28 - Aug 3

                      Morning all:
Monie - congrats on the inches!

Sassy - wtg on the 13 lbs!

Elsie - don't think I'm ready for a personal, daily challenge just yet, but I'll save that option for later. That reminded me of my Dad. He quit smoking by making a bet with another guy - whoever smoked first had to pay the other one dollar. A trivial amount, but neither one of them ever smoked again.

I'm having a pretty good weekend. I think not having the stress of the workweek is helping me get back on track. So maybe by tomorrow I'll have 2 good days behind me and the week will be off to good start. Weighed in today and I actually lost 1/2 a lb - was really expecting to have gained about 3.

Hope everybody has a good Sunday!

Re: Buddy List July 28 - Aug 3

                        Good morning buddies!

                        Great progress, monie and sassy!!

I just finished some of my workout. My 8yo cat got "involved" while I was doing my ab work, then while I was playing with my Wii Fit. He actually got upset when I turned off the Wii. I told him we'll play more later. He likes the female trainer's voice and the music.

Last night we did mess up a little bit. We went to the ILs for dinner with my BIL, his wife and 2 kids. My father in law is a chef and he made chinese food (pepper steak and ginger chicken). He tried his best to modify the meal so DH and I could have it, but I found out after dinner that he put a little cornstarch in the pepper steak. It wasn't a lot, but I felt like I had cheated big time. After we left, I was upset because we were on Day 13 and had been "clean" up until then. DH said it was okay and to remember that the little bit he put in was for the entire platter, which was like 10 servings.

We're back on track today. I guess that's what really matters.

                          happy sunday morning to everyone.

fat4now- hope things at work slow down for you a little next week. hope you are doing well and on plan.

sassy- glad to hear you like the jicama. it's one of my favs too. just made hashbrowns with it the other day, can hardly even tell it's not a potato. took a big chunk and used my cheese grater to make them like hashbrowns. wtg on the inches and lbs lost. you're doing great.

mike-hope day 2 back on track is a good one. congrats on the 1/2 lb too.

caramella-so cute that your cat is helping ya exercise. don't beat yourself up about the cornstarch, it's great that FIL is trying to make an effort to cook something that is legal for you to eat. the amount you consumed was probably so minamal, that it shouldn't effect you enough to kick you out of ketosis or stall you in any way.

bill- i think i forgot to congratulate you on the 40 lbs in 60 days. wtg buddy and tell cori we miss her and hope to hear from her soon. hope DW is doing well, we'd love to have her stop in and say hello any time.

elsie-i haven't said this lately, but thank you so much for your support and for starting this little community of buddies. it's the first thing i look at each time i log onto the board everyday.

for any buddies i missed, so sorry and for those we haven't heard from in a while, hope to hear from you soon. seems like we've lost quite a few members lately, hope that it's just life keeping them away and not that they've given up and strayed from the plan.

well, i stepped on the scale for my 2 month weigh in this morning. i was relieved to see that the 3 lbs i gained after going off plan last saturday is gone plus an extra lb along with it. so i've officially lost 23 lbs in too months. i feel so good about my success and know that i will be able to stick to this woe for a lifetime now.

DH and i are getting ready to go for a bike ride before the heat of the day sets in. i will check in again later in the evening. i hope everyone has a great day.

                          monie

                              Good Morning Bud's!
So glad everyone is moving in some way! it will pay back 10 fold!

I had a good workout this AM--finding out tho that I may have a fight on my hands regarding Flab--
You Big Guy's know what I'm talking about--Our big beautiful tummy's!!
the one the girls all love & swoon over!? *cough* *cough* *choke*--Well--that's what I told myself-- when I was creating it!

Having nightmare's of myself looking like a big wax mannequin-pushed into a hot house--and becoming all runny and melty
So I added stretch's and sit-ups to my workouts...

Sugar--don't think you caused the " kiss if death" ! you picked yourself up quick! and you didn't let it escalate into an all day thing! this minor stumble will pass quick--WTG! and stay focused

Monie-2 months! doesn't seem it! gotta love it! CONGRADS! and WOW on the inch's!
All those hours your putting in and you still find time to focus on your commitment! trully inspirational!

From my study's of the book and what other's are posting here:
I may be at the body adjusting phase--introduced so many new foods--and eating a bit different--"may" cause my weight to stay the same--1/2 pound 1 week, stall the next, 1/2 pound 3rd week, stall again-- type of thing- during the metabolism regulating itself ...Don't care--and not Worried!
Will stay more focused on my excercises and Tape!

Elsie--The last recipe's contained a cereal made from flax--Huge hit!
