Re: what do you snack on???
Heh- sauteed mushrooms with onions in butter. I get the pre-sliced mushrooms and use about a half a basket of them in one go. You feel like you are eating a lot, because the mushrooms, onion (dried powdered if you are getting close to your carb limit for the day) and butter seem so luxurious. Sometimes I will cut up a sausage and this will be dinner.
It satisfies the feeling when you want to eat a lot of something.

Re: what do you snack on???
Olives, Olives stuffed with garlic cloves, pan fried chicken coated with garlic powder, onion powder, cayene pepper, black cracked pepper, egg salad (eggs mashed up, with olive oil, garlic poweder, onion powder, onion chopped up, 1 x small pickle chopped up) I know it sounds weird but eating eggs like that is like eating a piece of chocolate...sounds crazy I know! I also like eating little beef meatballs fried up and last but not least...I fry onions in a pan as well as fresh garlic and when they are really caramel like I add red peppers, orange peppers and mushrooms...I cook everything till it becomes creamy...for spices I add onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper....just a few things I like to snack on when I want something.
I always try to make sure I have cooked beef, turkey and chicken on hand in the fridge to eat.

Re: what do you snack on???
When I don't want to actually prepare anything, i'm all about pepperoni slices & string cheese, or sugar free jello & whipped cream when I want something sweet, but I try to only have that once every 2-3 days.
If i don't mind waiting a minute, Lit'l Smokies are the BEST! Those little cocktail weenies, i think hillshire farms makes them. I stick a few of them in the microwave for a minute and they're already snack-size, so i feel like i'm snacking - I like putting several little things in my mouth over & over when I snack, I don't necessarily need to feel like i'm eating junk food. Just as long as there's something to stick in my mouth. :P So those lit'l smokies really do the trick for me.

I used to snack all the time but these days, I don't feel like it too much which is great. When I do get the urge, I have a marmite cheddar bite - yum!

Re: what do you snack on???
You eat if you are hungry and/or you have gone 6 waking hours without eating. You don't eat because you "feel like it".Originally posted by melimeli View Postwhen you aren´t REALLY hungry but just want to eat???
Eating out of boredom or eating because you need something to do with your time is a very, very bad habit and might be the reason why you are overweight to begin with. Remember, just because we don't count calories on Atkins, doesn't mean that calories don't matter. Dr. Atkins wrote that his diet wasn't a license to gorge yourself.
So try to develop healthy eating habits, rather than perpetuate the bad habits that got you fat in the first place.
So if you feel like eating and you aren't hungry, drink a glass of water and take a walk around the block, or do an exercise video or do stretches or do jumping jacks. Re-train your brain.
