The fact remains that you eat when you are hungry or if you have gone more than 6 waking hours without eating. If you aren't hungry and it hasn't been more than 6 waking hours without eating something, then your basis for eating is more emotional than it is nutrative. Theres a bunch. Also, I dont think she would have taken the comment personally if it didnt say the "thats what got you fat in the first place". Saying something like " over snacking adds to the reasoning for weight issues", would have been a little nicer put. Noone likes the word "fat". We call ourselves that everyday and it sucks to be reminded by others. Even though Im sure the comment wasnt mean to offend, she DID have a smiley face . Come on, forgive and love one another. We need more of it in this world.

    Take care
We can use all the feel-good-about-yourself words that we want. We can even call ourselves "overweight" or "big boned" or "heavy set" or "chunky" or whatever. But the fact, unless you have a BMI of 24 and want to get to a BMI of 19, you are on this diet because you are fat and need to lose weight. Just looking at the start and goal weights of posters here, it's clear the majority of us do not have normal BMIs and want to lose a pound or two.

I'm sorry if the word fat offends people here. It shouldn't. Knowing you are fat should motivate you to stick on your Atkins and not find any excuses to fall off or cheat or whatever. The more you con yourself into thinking "Oh, I'm just heavy-set", the more you con yourself into eating that bag of candy or that chocolate cake or whatever, because you aren't fat---you're just heavy-set and it won't hurt you to eat it because you aren't fat, just heavy-set.

If I didn't face up to the fact that I was fat and kept telling myself I'm just "heavy set" or "overweight" or whatever, I wouldn't have gone on a weight loss diet. But to each his own.

      RE: the Cloud Recipe:

A couple of years ago, the clouds recipe was very popular. Then it fell out of popularity because it was too addictive for some folks and they couldn't control themselves. So be aware of this. If you try the recipe and find that you can't stop eating them or if you stall or gain weight from them, drop them from your menu.

Thank you for your kind and factual response. And you're absolutely right, I was just trying to give a better understanding as to why she took offense. I'm very guilty of that- coming up with excuses- thing because I dont like using the word fat.

That makes a TON of sense. (No pun intended ) I restarted Oct 27th and I've never had so much motivation and success. Im no longer making excuses for myself and thank you for reminding me that it will only help me in the long run. <3

Thanks Megs! I can totally see where I would easily become addicted to that concoction. I made it today and found out that because I began shoveling it into my face, I only ended up with 18 clouds! Yikes! Of course, I could have made them pea sized and then felt better about myself

Wow, I missed that post. I made the clouds. Twice... I had a *huge* problem with them and keeping my 4oz of cheese... so now I can't make them. If someone wants to make them and send me one, I would be more than happy to eat it...

Re: what do you snack on???

I just wanted to say the first thing I thought when I read your post, is "Nothing, have some water and go for a walk". The way your post sounds is that you were looking for something to just eat to eat, and one of the biggest things about Atkins is relearning control and proper proportions, etc. The only way we get too big is by eating too much and not exercising, not medicine, injuries, nothing. Sorry. I said I gained the weight I did from my steroids, or injuries I received in a car accident that prevented me from doing much at all, including walking for awhile, or my Cushings disease, but in the end, it was me shoveling the food in my mouth I was craving and making unhealthy choices. Anyway, in the book, Dr A states that when you are hungry between meals, snacky, etc, to have water and go for a walk along with some other things, that you have to learn when you are truly hungry and satisfied. It is an addiction like heroin, a habit like smoking, a self medication like alcohol. You have to retrain your brain to not eat or think like that. If you did not mean the post in that way, sorry, but that is sure how it came across to me. The great thing about this place and what brought me back were all the people telling me what I needed to hear, not what I wanted to hear, not cosigning my bad habits and ways of thinking. Try to be happy someone (ie, a mod) told you straight up how they felt and didnt snicker behind your back or not say anything. It may actually benefit you 3 months from now. Good luck.
