Well, I honestly don't eat unless I am really hungry - which is why I do 3 big meals & not that mini-meal thing - but here are some snack ideas:
- 16 oz. container of 4% cottage cheese: 12 total carbs (look for brands that bear 3 carbs per half-cup like Daisy & Target brand)
- 17.6 oz. container FAGE Total: 14 total carbs
- Meatballs with one handful melted cheddar cubes on top (Recipe on my Original LC Recipes page) - and 1 packet of Splenda with some added oregano make it even better!
- Pumpkin seeds are wonderful: one 5-oz bag yields 16 total carbs; a 2.25-oz. bag, 6 total carbs. The former is perfect for watching a movie because it takes me more than 2 hours to put it away.
- A cup of decaf coffee with plenty of heavy whipping cream, ground cinnamon, & 1-2 Splendas or Stevia.
- 2-3 tablespoons of sunflower seed butter melted on a plate, which is 5-7½ total carbs with Sunbutter Organic.
- Meat/cheese rollups with mayo sweetened with a packet of Splenda so that it tastes like Miracle Whip. I roast my own turkey breasts about every other week or so.
- A 16-oz bag organic edamame pods yield 27 total carbs. These are so great for plane rides and road trips.
- 1 can of real crabmeat mixed with a 3-oz cube of cream cheese, softened to taste in the microwave, then add 2 spoonfuls sour cream. Add pepper, garlic, & onion. I love this little throw-together because I've always been crazy about crabdip! You can eat it straight or use veggies like celery, cucumbers, squash, or anything as makeshift chips.
