Re: I can see it happening to the newbies...

I am willing to admit I am oversensitive on induction and read your post in a different context than it was meant. I appreciate this board and all the support and advise from everyone. I will have to look at future posts in a positive way instead of a negative one. That is part of changing the behavior I have been in for a year caused by weight gain. I was trying to express the way I was feeling at the time. I wasn't intending to upset anyone. On to another day!

100 carbs daily for Maintenance?????? It really depends on your metabolism. We've had ADBB members who could eat over 100 net carbs daily on OWL Phase and lose weight faster then when they were eating 20 net carbs.

I've found that the smaller me, requires less food than the 242 pounder me did. Honestly, there are days when I don't eat my CCLL or even my CCML because I'm too full!

I can't eat big honking servings anymore (and good for that too because eating those big servings along with seconds and thirds helped me become fat.) And I can say I don't want to be able to eat those huge portions. It makes me very sad that there was a time when I could eat a pound of pasta in one setting and still have room for the rest of the meal.

Whenever I see people, especially larger people, stuff themselves with pizza or burgers or whatever, it's bittersweet because on the one hand I'm happy that I'm no longer one of them and on the other I'm sad because if they only knew what they are doing to themselves.....

But as I wrote in another thread, we must believe that we---our health and our bodies--- are more valuable than a slice of pizza or a piece of cake or a cookie.

This is so true! This is why I try to focus on the other aspects of my life ( rather than on what my next meal is going to be) and only take the time necessary to prepare the appropriate foods for this WOL. It works for me but might not for you foodies out there. It's just the less time I spend in the kitchen handling food, the better I do. If I make it up in portions in advance, I don't have to think about it. Jeez, I sound so lazy!

When i read this i thought of it as a observation and also helpful in that alot of ppl do come onto this diet thinking its a quick fix weight loss rescue plan but its not. We cant expect to shred x amount of weight overnight. I admit i used to be one of those ppl and it just set me up for disappointment which led to cheating. Now i just aim to stay on plan and then let the rest happen slowly. whatever the scales say at least i know im eating better.

Kevin, when I first read your original post, the impression I got was "exasperated", but I did not find it too harsh. You had good things to say and you said them, thank you for that.

So this is the touchy-feely you? What are you like when you're mad, I wonder .

From what I have read of this site it is a place where people will help you see what you are doing wrong as well as praise what you do right. Some of the answers seem to overstress a point but it is always a good point. Like read the book! First hand knowledge helps more than anything. Great advice they are giving.

Besides, friendship means not holding back if someone needs help, even if the help is to tell them no!

Sookie, you're so right. I've been saying for years that if I never had to enter the kitchen again I'd be the happiest woman on earth, lol. I've been cooking for my family for over 30 years, I'm ready to hang up my apron .

It's kind of funny, but for years I worked for an answering service, and it left me able to ignore ringing phones and hang up on phone solicitors without any qualms. So why is it that working in a high school cafeteria didn't do the same for me with regard to food ?

Another observation. I don't miss the convenience foods. What I miss sometimes is the convenience. Making sure I have what I need on hand helps with that tremendously.

BTW Kevin, I used to be a member of Lil Debbie's fan club. She's a fine woman, let's show her a little respect, okay? Just kidding (she says as she ducks for cover) .

I think the difference is that we all have to eat sometime even if you don't want to cook like me. Who doesn't want to ignore the ringing phones, lol, but a hungry belly is tough to ignore... I really only spend maybe one afternoon cooking and packaging food up into the fridge and freezer to microwave every week or two. If I cook beyond that, it's only to broil something which isn't labor intensive. Otherwise I stay the heck away from that kitchen!
