    As I wrote in the other thread, you really, really need to read the 2002 book. It's very obvious that you don't understand the diet and believe the entire Diet is the Induction Phase. Even in the 1972 book, Dr. Atkins wrote you reintroduce foods like fruits, grains, etc. after Induction.

    So please do yourself a favor and read the 2002 book and get it out of your head that Induction Phase is the entire Atkins Diet. It isn't doing you any favors otherwise.

      For the life of me, I can't figure out why you keep mentioning fruit and "stuff"... fruit, legumes, starchy vegetables, and grains are ALL allowed in the 2002 version of DANDR.

      You keep saying you've read the book... I can't say that I believe you have.

      And even if you have... why don't you go back and refresh yourself? I've read it lots of times... I always get something out of it.

            Oh, boy... now I think that you're just yanking my chain... there is no way in h*ll that you've read the book, and can make that statement. You don't add back fruit and whole grains in the same week, and neither one of them is added in the first week after Induction.

            Another thing... I've missed what your point is in all of this.

              I'm afraid I'm gonna have to rain on your parade... If you follow Atkins, next week you should be eating more vegetables (5 g net carbs more than you did during Induction). Fruits will have to wait until OWL Rung 7 (i.e. at least 7 weeks) and whole grains until OWL Rung 9 (at least 9 weeks).

                After reading this entire chain of posts I am not even sure what
                to say except, Go get yourself the book.

                You can add 5 net carbs of veggies on the first rung, so you
                will not be having whole grains and fruits next week, unless
                you are doing your own low carb.

                Or in the meen time, read the stickies about induction and
                the woe until you can get it.

                If not, then 2 weeks from now you will be making another post
                about how 'your diet' is not working.

                    Two thoughts, are you getting enough water or drinking beverages with caffine, for some people, caffine will slow weight loss. Also are you taking any medications? Some will make it diffcult, such as antidepressants or blood pressure meds!

                      Well that's two in the past two weeks that seem to be yanking our chains for fun. And no Sunny, I am not having fun. I just make note of the thread originators and pass them by in the future. I come on the forums to help and support if I can and learn more about what I should be doing. UGGH. I hate that people seem to get a kick out of this kind of thing.

                        darn i am drinking coffee...and i do remember in the book by atkins that i read like 12 years ago he said no no no...

                        what is it about coffee that harms the diet i wonder? did he have a take on that? he was vague i think back in the day.

                        i never thought the atkins was induction at all...the opposite..

                        ive been clarifying that issue for years with people that think atkins is bad for you because your eating eggs meat etc and i am like "no no atkins is very very fruit , veggies, nuts and grains " where people get the idea that its all meat and stuff is beyond me...

                        and now on to OWL for me.

                        OH GOOD NEWS TOO! There was a delay in the induction phase for me, but i am happy to report that i am 3 pounds to my 1st goal. under 190!!!!!

                        6'1" 193 today. was a whopping 205 or something.

                        MAJOR goal is: 185

                        so 8 pounds to go....yip yip!!!

                              i forgot to mention i did the diet before and just here to lose a few pounds...and i work out more than most people. the apple wont harm my weight loss ...ive kept 100 pounds off for almost 13 years...and i just weighed myself and to be honest im happy if i just lose 3 more pounds.

                                but thanks for the few people that have messaged me and those i will keep in contact with. one an avid jogger who has more wiggle room than the rest of you. if you jog 15 miles your needs are slightly differnt...also if your losing 10 pounds thats not the same as 100 pounds..also not everyone has an eating disorder..for me my back kind of went out i didnt exercise as much and gained 10-15 pounds...but two weeks has brought me back to where i need...



                                keep up the hard work guys.

                                and to those that were kinda rude to me..please channel that energy for positive things....like losing weight!

                                also add exercise it helps alot!!!
