  • Hi just a few dumb question's !

Question 1 - Is it ok to allow Sunday as my day of whatever I want - then just get back on track ?

Question 2 - My goal is just 20-25 pounds - So when I get this goal complete can I just up my carbs to 60 if im at 30 a day ?

Question 3 - Why do people say " diets don't work , because they gain the weight back " ?

Question 4 - After I lose my weight and just stay away from sugars ( low carbs around 60 ) and fried foods will my weight stay on point ?

Edit: I just finished my 14 days with great results but I also took total cleanse ! That was a big mistake ... I was so tired

We go by Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, 2002, on the Board. Which means that we are doing Atkins.

        On Atkins,
        • one is not allowed to eat whatever on Sunday; that's not Atkins
        • after Induction, one moves to OWL and slowly increases the carbohydrate intake; jumping from 30 to 60 g of net carbohydrate is not Atkins
        • there is a Maintenance phase; so if one follows the plan correctly, he or she won't be one of those who say that "diets don't work because they gained all the weight back"; Atkins is not a diet, but a way of eating for life
        • as I've said, there is a Maintenance phase; if you eat below your CCLM but above your CCLL, your weight will stay the same; these are individual numbers and can be 40 net carbs, 60 net carbs or 100+ net carbs

But again, we are doing Atkins here, not Defected's diet... so unless you are following Atkins, what I have written above is not relevant for you.

defected, if i went with what my body said the first week or two, i'd have said 'screw this' and eaten all the sugar my body 'felt' i should eat. atkins is set up to ease you back into carbs so that the shock of going from 30-60 doesn't make you gain weight. there is a point to it, that is why it works.

Ok so when I get back to 60 carbs . Can I enjoy sugar free pudding with heavy cream if I subtract that from the 60 . Im a little worried that when I lose the weight I can't enjoy sweets or the once a week pizza -
I was at 300 carbs or more a day now Im down to 30 and that's a big change for me - and im losing weight - I just want to enjoy junk here and there because life is to short

There's nothing wrong with that. It's just that we are not able to answer your questions, because the answers will vary depending on what diet you're on. For someone on Atkins, I gave the answers in my previous post.

I mean all I want to lose is 20 pounds in 3 mouths . I lost 9 pounds so far in 14 days but I know most was water .
From what I have seen on the Board, scheduling your weight loss doesn't usually work if you are following Atkins. Not sure whether it works on other diets.

There are many other diet plans that give results. But our advice here is intended for folks following Atkins, so it will probably not apply to someone on a different diet.

Are those net carbs or total carbs? If you were someone doing Atkins and those were net carbs, this would mean that your CCLL is above 30 but below 300. But this is an enormous range! To determine your CCLL and CCLM correctly, you would have to slowly introduce carbs back, in the form of nutritious food.

I just want to enjoy junk here and there because life is to short
That's exactly why I would say one should not enjoy junk food -- you don't want to make your life shorter than it already is.

That did not include my dinner or midnight snacks juices onions. After I was told my carbs where way to high I study up on Atkins and 2 weeks later I lost 9 pounds .

like I said it was over 300 carbs at the end of the day . But I have this sugar free jello pudding in the fridge and I want it but its days ( 12 carbs and 6 sugar alcohols ) see I would say that's healthy and I want it

This is your pre-LC menu... I'm not sure what I should do with it. I trust you that you used to eat over 300 carbs per day -- many of us did.

After I was told my carbs where way to high I study up on Atkins and 2 weeks later I lost 9 pounds.
You might be doing low carb (LC) now, but you are not doing Atkins.

But I have this sugar free jello pudding in the fridge and I want it but its days ( 12 carbs and 6 sugar alcohols )
If you were on Atkins, 14 days in the "diet", the pudding would not be allowed as it contains modified food starch.

see I would say that's healthy and I want it
For someone doing Atkins, sugar free jello pudding is junk food.

Hmm I think Atkins is not for me ! I mean I know it helps others and I respect that but Im still losing weight and im feeling good and that is what counts in the end .
20 pounds is all I want gone and maybe I can do that with a low carb diet and stay healthy with my fat and calories - If Atkins says no to junk then i may have to say no to Atkins If I fall apart ill be back to say I failed on my own . But if you don't hear from me in 2 months then Im doing great !

Good point and well made G!

Go to Wikipedia and look up 'glycation.' It is a lot of highly technical language to basically say, 'sugar makes you old.' Sugar causes proteins to bind together in your body in such a way as to make you stiffen up and cause disease and joint problems, even blindness. Sugar does shorten your life. Your call.
