    Hey Buddies!

Sitting here in air-conditioned comfort, where any sane person would be on a day like today. And happy as a clam ... just found out two more neighbors (not native Floridians and therefore unprepared for the furnace-like temps here) are taking off for a couple of months, making our little corner of the universe delightfully quiet, albeit temporarily .... YAY!!!! I don't care if it's like the fires of H*ll out there; I'm gonna sit on my screened porch with a cold drink and luxuriate in the silence ... ha! Take your thrills where you can get 'em, I say !

focus: 1 lb. from mini-goal ... that's so cool! Congrats!
lisa: a big shout out for being such a good girl about exercising!
    sham: 170s!!! w00t!!!
Jane: well at least the MIL is now MIA; and no beating yourself over ice cream .... heck, I would've stuck my head in a whole tub of the stuff! Tomorrow's another day

A big Buddy Hug for our pals Sassy, moniegail, Caramella, Laura, wellkept, Norman, Ashan, and apologies to anyone I left off.

For every little victory and baby step that you are enjoying and undertaking on this exciting journey, I applaud you, Buddies!

        Hi everyone!!

focus - congrats on being so close to your mini-goal
Norah - enjoy the vacation from the neighbors!

Glad to see everyone's doing so well.

I've become a vegetarian in the last 2 weeks. So I'm trying to get used to doing Atkins sans meat. It isn't that hard, since I've found a lot of great alternatives. Maybe I can get motivated with my food blog again with the recipes we've been coming up with here.

          Buddies

Just thought before popping back to bed for a few, that I would stop in here and give a quick update as I never seem to have time these days. I want to thank you all for your kind thoughts in regards to my Aunt and myself. My Aunt is recovering pretty good from her heart surgery from what I hear from my Mom, but she now has some other issues that are being looked at. I guess she figured she was going to get to stop taking these pills for her blood pressure as it's been really low for some time, but when she went to the specialists, for some reason it was through the roof and it also looks like she maybe anemic? So she has to have some other testing done. So I hope it all turns out ok for her.

As for myself.. I'm almost 100% better now pretty much. What an ordeal this has been! I have an appointment this Thursday to see my Dr. for an update check. She wants to make sure my Asthma is at a state where I can be reduced on my pills.. the weening off stage. I am back at work now, which also feels good. In regards to the Atkins part of it.. well it hasn't been a complete Atkins journey through this illness, but I trust I'll get back on track here real soon. I'm still doing ok though.. I hit 169lbs last Tuesday and managed to maintain it through to this past Monday. I'm not sure how, but I'm definitely am not complaining. LOL

I have 31 days to go until the wedding, so now I need to regroup, refocus, and get myself motivated again to go strong, so I end up with the best results in time to see my dh's family again.

I'm sorry for not being around much these days, but hopefully that will get a little better soon. I miss you all and think of you all often. I hope your all doing well.

          Your Buddy Always..

          Sassy

Hi Sassy! Was hoping you'd check in and let us know how you've been! You sure have had a lot on your plate lately ... glad to hear you're hanging in there!

Caramella, I'm really interested to hear more about how you do Atkins the veggie way ... lots of soy? What's a sample menu? It's something I wouldn't mind doing myself but thought it would be too restrictive.

And for the rest of our Buddies, a Buddy Hug!

sham - I'll trade with you. we've been getting rain just about everyday for the last couple of weeks in NY. Though they say there won't be any rain this weekend, I'm skeptical.

Norah - Here's an example of what I've been eating:

Breakfast - 2 egg white breakfast mini-muffins (something I made up) with 2 strips of Morningstar bacon. Tea with 1 packet of Stevia

Snack 1 - A handful of Edamame in pods

Lunch - Morningstar Pizza Burger with a Caesar salad

                Snack 2 - Cheese chips

                Dinner - Tofu stir fry

I'm still trying to get a balance of things with carbs and protein, but I found another forum with recipes and advice. It's been pretty helpful.

That's rough on your child. I know it's non of my business and by all means, you can send me to heck, but are you considering taking him to the doctor?

I haven't fathered any children so I would not know what to do. Well, I guess it would help if I was married. I really hope he's doing better. I really dig children. I baby sit my cousin's daughter from time to time, and we have a blast at the local park.

So, maybe someday I'll do the supreme sacrifice and get married, so I can father a child.

Oh Sham! I pray it's not H1N1. As you might be well aware, I'm a Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry and my research is in theoretical quantum mechanics (pertaining to atomic hybridization-molecular bonding) and molecular biophysics.

H1N1 is an insidious viral strain, that affects the really young and the elderly. It really is a danger for those who have a history of respiratory diseases. Luckily, there are effective anti-viral medications to fight the disease. I'm hedging my bets, since the occurrence is low, that your child is not infected with the virus. I hope and pray the best for you, your child and your family. Keep me posted.

                              Sincerely,
                              Norman
