    Sassy, thanks for the heads up about the buddy thread ... great idea!

    Hi all! Been struggling a bit on maintenance but still hanging in there; I gave up aiming for 140 lbs. because my body said: "It's 150 or forget it!" So I decided to be realistic and quit torturing myself; life is much more pleasant because of that attitude adjustment .

    So looking forward to hearing what everyone's up to; will try to get caught up here. Thanks again, Sass!

        Good Morning Buddies

        I hope you're all having a wonderful week so far. I know my week got awhole lot better yesterday! I woke up with that feeling of being skinnier lol.. so I decided to weight myself, even though I just did on Monday. I was down almost another 2lbs, but only took credit for 1lb as it was hovering back and forth. I then took my measurements even though I was going to wait until June 4th, as that would have marked one month to the date that I have been back on Atkins.

        My results.. *drum roll* lol .. after being back on Atkins for 23 days.. I have lost 10lbs and 9 inches.. for a grand total of 50lbs and 48.5 inches lost!! I also fit into my size 11 jeans! I have not worn a size 11 since 1993.

        I was on cloud nine all day and it must have shown or something? My dh gave me huge compliments when he saw me outside as I was heading to work, two co-workers gave me compliments on how good they thought I looked and to top it off.. when I was done work, I had to meet with my X husband in regards to our youngest son.. and yes.. he even paid me a compliment! He said, "Wow.. you look really nice!" So it was a good day here!! Ohh and the weird thing was.. I had NO make up on at all.. lol

        I can't wait to see my Mom on June 9th, because the last time I saw her in person was almost a year ago when I was 50+ lbs heavier! She has seen some pictures and knows I am not as big.. but she has no clue about the current stats nor the size 11 jeans. I'm keeping quiet until she see's me herself. I'm also hoping I can drop some more before then.

        Anyways.. on to bigger and better things...

        I'm so thrilled you found your way here!! You have done a terrific job! Sometimes changing our goals we set in the beginning do have to change as we get closer to them, as many people such as yourself find out that there body is happier at a different weight. It's all good, as long as you're happy and you feel healthy! I'm so happy to know you're going to be popping in. I've missed our chats.

        Welcome to ADBB, and trust me when I say, you're not the only one who is here for a second time. The support is great, and I find sometimes we're stronger the second time around. It will be a fantastic journey, and I look forward to hearing about your success's.

        Here's to the week finishing off with a bang! lol.. I have Friday and Saturday off.. which isn't a common thing so I'm excited. What do you all have planned for the weekend?

          I buckled down and got one good day behind me, and did some cooking so I'm more prepared for the next several days. Keeping inspired by reading all the success stories - including yours Sassy!

            afternoon everyone ; )

            well, today hasnt been the greatest. I cheated. I had that breyers carb smart ice cream and I'm pretty sure thats not great for induction. *sigh* owell.....on the straight and narrow now!

            PS: anyone gone to their doctors office and just ask to use the scale? My scale is way off so I dont really know how much ive lost, cause according to my scale im at 270 ish..I sincearly doubt thats right.

              Size 11, Sassy ..... FanTASTIC!!!!! Doesn't it feel GREAT?!

              Have never gone to the DR's office just to weigh myself .... don't think I would, actually, since his scale always reads 4 lbs. heavier than mine ! But it's not a bad idea if you want an accurate read.

                Hi everyone welcome to all the new people in this thread *waves*

                FLdoodette as long as you are happy at that weight then good for you!! i cant wait until i reach onederland long way to go but i bet you feel great for losing all that weight. I think the dieting and losing weight part is easy but the maintaining part is hardest because we all have seen how easy this diet is and feel we can put off restarting it when the weight creeps up but we cant let ourselves do that. Good luck with maintaining would love to read how you do.

                Hey lindyj, how are you doing on your induction? finding it hard or enjoying it?

                Banjonut well done on the cooking thats the only way i think i can survive on this diet is if i cook and plan ahead. This is what i will be doing this weekend

                Skinny - ice cream!!! yum!! me wants some lol actually surprisingly i havent been craving anything Come back to induction and good luck with stayin on plan. i struggled to get my head around this way of eating too but once you get it you will feel so great

                Sassy - i try not to weigh often but sometimes i cant resist :P I even gave away my lovely digital scales to my parents to try and get me to not weight so much but it hasnt stopped me wanting to jump on some scales. My bf has some mechanical ones that swing around but they are totally rubbish got on them mid week and had apparently lossed 8-9lbs but then so has my partner who hasnt ate a single healthy thing all week lol. So i went to my local pharmacy and paid to weigh and found i had lost 1lb. its not brilliant but its something
                well done on your weight loss and inches. Thats really brilliant!! and you must feel so great to get into your size 11 You must feel really good right now!!

                ok enough of my ramblings, hope everyone has a nice weekend!! =D

                  hi everyone, hope you are all well and still enjoying this wol

                  day 22 here and ive lost so far 11lbs 'woo!!' not measured myself yet so dont know how many or if ive lost any inches but i feel alot better. i know i can improve my weightloss though so im going to go back to basics from today to try and get a better loss next week. still not incorporated exercise into my life but i think it wont be long now. i love the way im feeling right now.

                    Good Morning Buddies

                    I hope you all had a great weekend!

                    Friday I took my youngest son out to a lake near by where we live, to meet up with my oldest son, his g/f, her little brother and her Grandma. We were there for about 2.5 - 3hrs. I took quite a few pictures of them. All in all I had good time.
                    Saturday morning my dh went for a walk with me! WOW.. it was so wonderful to have him be a part of that. He never is, as he's always too tired or sore from work. I had to laugh, when he commented on having to run to catch up to me, as it's always me running to catch him. I told him I wasn't there to sight see hahaha.. We did two laps around the lake here and it was fantastic even though I got sunburned.. In the evening my dh and I went to see his buddy/co-worker's band play at a Legion out of town. Before we got there, we had decided that we best get some dinner in us as we hadn't eaten all day. We ended up having dinner at a Greek Restaurant right beside the ocean. It was such a beautiful view. Again I took pictures LOL.. even of the menu that had the name of the restaurant on it. I had a chicken and rib combo, and have to say I did pretty good all in all. I know there was more than likely some no-no's on the ribs in there sauce, but that would have been the only bad stuff I ate. I gave my dh my potatoes and rice that it came with, and I also ate the Greek salad for the first time ever!! I don't care for the feta cheese.. but all in all it was pretty tasty. I also ate the peas, which I probably shouldn't have, but I was so hungry that I felt it was better the peas than the potatoes and rice. We got to the Legion and I ordered a coffee with cream (as I always pack my own sweetener now) and what did I get? OMG.. my dh thought he was being kind.. argh.. I ended up with a Bailey's and coffee! Well.. all in all I have to say I have done pretty good with the whole restarting a clean induction up until Saturday night. So I guess it's not that bad as long as I make sure it doesn't carry on that way. I had only the one Bailey's and coffee... the rest of the night was reg coffee, cream and my sweetener. It's weird being out, watching people getting drunk, while you stay completely sober the whole time. The band was pretty good.

                    Mike - Congrats on the one good day my friend!! That's where it has to start.. one day at a time.. don't give up!! I'm so happy to hear that you had done some cooking and were being more prepared. What kind of dishes did you make? Thank you for your kind words. I hope you've had a great weekend, and that your week will go well.

                    Kristen - lol.. I hope you enjoyed that ice cream My dh has been buying these Turtles ice cream thingy's and OMG.. I have been so not happy about that! ~sighs~ I don't know about where you live, but here they do have a popsicle that's made without sugar, and yes I know the sweetener used isn't favored with Atkins, but really it's better than buying something that has 50000 carbs in it! I mean it's just for those times you know you just need to have something. I also have been experimenting with some ingredients, trying to feed my chocolate cravings that use to get me buying a lot of recess peanut butter cups lol.. so I now made this yummy low carb little teat. I use Cream Cheese (softened) a little Coco and sweetener, mix it all together, then throw in a drop or two of Vanilla Extract, remix it round and round.. sample.. Mmmmm.. than put it in the freezer for a little bit.. Ohh my goodness.. it taste like a mousse or something like it!! It's allowable and it helps me through my tough times. Even my dh and 14yr old son think it tastes pretty good after it's been frozen a bit. In regards to the Dr's scale.. I use to weight myself there, but haven't thought to the last time I was there, and again I agree, that most Dr's scales will way you more on average, because they say that the basic scale we buy is out by 3-4 lbs. Sad but true in most cases. Maybe when I'm like 150 on my scale, then I'll get on my Dr's and take the risk of seeing it say I'm really 160 hahaha, that way I would still be thrilled with my outcome of being 160lbs.. something I have not been in like 16 years!

                    Norah - Thank you for the kind words my dear friend, and yes I was ex static to be wearing the size 11 jeans!! They were just for that moment, as the goal is to be able to wear them and not have that roll of fat get pushed up over the top of them! I so hate that! lol.. So I have not put them on since, as I know I have a little ways to go yet. How was your weekend?

                    Focus - Congrats on your weight loss so far and any and all losses matter, no matter how small they all count! Thank you for the encouraging words. Most days I do feel pretty good, but like alot of people, I still have my blah days too. I hope you had a great weekend.

                    Cara - I hope you and your Mom are doing well and that you both had an awesome weekend!

                    Well I can't believe it's now June 2009!! Where does the time go?? It's now that time for me to join in that water challenge that I said I was going to do come June. lol.. It will help I know. I'm now down to having 9 days until I see my Mom for the first time in a year, so I want as much fat gone by that time as possible!!

                      Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't posted much. Things have been hectic with work and I've been so stressed. My mom totally gave up on Atkins after the first day. She has no discipline, food-wise. I told her I'm not going to push her, if she doesn't want to do it.

                      DH and I have kept at things. However, with the stress I've been dealing with, temptation gets really had to resist. So far so good. I've definitely toned up a great deal. I'm too scared to weigh myself though, like the last time. One good thing is that my mom bought a pair of size 14 capris for me and they fit!!!! I never was able to get into that size pants since junior high school.

                      **WARNING** THE BELOW PART MAY BE GROSS. IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH, DO NOT READ FURTHER **WARNING**

                      This may be bit gross but that I've been really bloated and "backed up." It's not TOM. I've been eating 3 cups of salad veggies or 2 cups of salad veggies one 1 cup of "other veggies," like broccoli or asparagus with my meals AND nothing's moving. DH has been having the same problem as well. I'm drinking around 100oz of water regularly and still nothing. I don't know what to do. I'm thinking of moving to OWL 1 next week, but I'm concerned I'll have the same problem. Anyone have this issue?

                        Caramella, I always take a daily dose of psyllium (sugar free; I like Walgreens house brand) and it keeps things moving along; also helps reduce cholesterol a bit, if that's a concern. That would be my recommendation, if the veggies alone aren't doing the trick. I understand flax seed meal helps, also, but I haven't tried that.

                          Cara - I'm sorry to hear that your Mom gave up so easily, but something I have learned is that NO ONE can make us do this. Your Mom will take it more seriously when she is ready to. Congrats on getting into your size 14 Capri's! Like Norah said already, I was going to suggest you try the flax seed also. I have never used it as of yet, but have heard it helps for that type of situation.

                            Hi Sassy! I feel bad for saying this, but I gave up with her. She complains about her weight all of the time but can't be bothered to do anything. She makes excuses all of the time.

                            Norah - the psyllium you get, is that in a capsule or powder-form? I was at CVS and didn't know what to get. I'm also going to look into getting flaxseed from Trader Joe's this weekend.

                              Cara - What do you mean you gave up with her? You and your dh are still following Atkins aren't you? I have to say, that I do know a little about the whole complaining about the weight part and not doing much about it. It took some pictures last year that were taken of me at a wedding to snap me into reality! I couldn't believe how gross I looked and I knew then that I had to do something. It was weird, as I never really thought I was THAT big, until seeing those photo's! I hope for your Mom's health sake, that she figures it out before it's too late. Good luck with the flax seed.. I hope it helps.
