getting discouraged and it's only day 3!

    While I was on induction I did have a tiny bit of sour cream twice I think and a slice of avocado once.

    Every now and then will not hurt you but I wouldnt have it everyday while on induction. I would stay as strict as I could. That is how I lost 13 pounds on induction.

        we need more info than hot sauce i dont know whats in it

        you should stick to the list there and if there are some foods you have portion control issuses with that you cant eat as much as you want of like sour cream or avocados then cut it out for now

          The brats may also have a lot of sodium in them--that will make you retain water like crazy. You need to drink more water to flush out the excess your body is holding. I know that sounds crazy but it is true. MINIMUM 64 ounces. If you weigh over 200 it should be closer to 100 ounces a day. Also you need your veggies. Very important 2 cups salad veggies and 1 cup other veggies daily.

            Well from yesterday I lost 2lbs so that is so encouraging. I just hope I can keep it up!

            what foods are we allowed to be liberal on. I know it says meats but is that it?

            Also I read somewhere that even though meats and some cheeses and stuff say no carbs I should count each portion as 1 carb. that's what I have been doing. So like for 1 egg I count 1 carb. is that right?

                The answer to your question is there.

                But "liberal" doesn't mean you can stuff yourself with food.

                And keep in mind that overeating protein can interfere with weight loss. Atkins is high fat, moderate protein, low carb.

                "Clean" meats (e.g. steak, chicken, ground beef, fish) should not have carbs. Cured/processed meats do have some; also read the list of ingredients. Organ meats also have some carbs and are limited to 4 oz per day. Shellfish also has some carbs; oysters and mussels are "carbier", and thus are limited to 4 oz per day.

                Cheese has carbs.

                Eggs have carbs. A large egg is 0.6 net carbs.

                You can look up the carbs in different foods in the USDA database, or you can use FitDay to keep track of your foods.

                  Looks fine, even if "spices" is a little mysterious. However, the carbs are not 0. Calories can be listed 0 if they are below 5. Carbs can be listed 0 if they are below 0.5 g. Since some of the ingredients have carbs (e.g., red peppers, garlic), the sauce will have carbs too.

                  If you only use a tsp, the carbs are negligible, imo. But if you use more than that, they'll add up.

                    My favorite is Frank's Original Red Hot Sauce. Mix it with a little melted butter and you've got the original buffalo sauce for chicken.

                    Ingredients are: Cayenne peppers, vinegar, water, salt and garlic powder.

                      My advise is to never be unprepared, as many have already said. You said the only thing to eat was...

                      If you are going to be some place when you know you will have to eat during that time, fill a cooler full of food. There is rarely an excuse for not have all the food you can eat handy. I have had several occassions where I have been away from home for over 12 hours, yet I stayed on track because I packed food to be ready throughout the events of the day when I needed to supplement what was available to me.

                        I too do not recommend getting on the scales everyday, that is enough to discourage anyone. I would wait until the end of the two weeks to weigh again. I weigh weekly, every Friday morning and log it in a notebook where I also log my food, this way I can keep up with my carb intake every day. I can look back and see if I made mistakes or if I need to change or add new things.

                          i've been keeping a journal so I dont need to count like my steaks and chicken (grilled by me with just a little seasoning on it)
                          Because i have been.

                          If there is grilled or friend chicken with skin (not battered) can I eat the skin? and can I eat the dark meat?
                          Or should I try to stay with lean breast no skin?

                          That one day when I was volunteering they woudln't allow me to bring a lunch box so I really did have no choice. I brought one and was forced to leave it in the car and my lunch was 10 min so I wasn't allowed to go to my car cuz it was 15 min walk away! Well I won't have to volunteer again for a while.

                              This is fine. Just know that it's not really 0 carbs ... neither is Frank's.

                              If the ingredients have carbs (like peppers), then the resulting final product can't be 0.

                                what are some good sauces to use as dips for chicken and steaks that are low or no carb? i can't eat my meats completely plain.

                                Yum deep fried skin on chicken is ok then I'm ok with eating it!
