    We mix mayonnaise and Texas Pete, its spicy, no carb and is great with chicken!

      It does have carbs, because it's made from peppers. See what J. (atkinsgal0 and I posted above.

        both containers say zero, what is Texas pete made with? The first time I did induction these never affected my losses. (We don't eat enormous amounts of this either.) SO I suppose it should say, this sauce has minimal carbs?

          That doesn't make it true though.

          Labels in the US are allowed to round ... so anything under 0.5 carbs can say 0.

          That would be true!

          According to the USDA site, http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/, a tsp. of hot sauce is 0.08 net carbs.

          And mayonnaise, regular is 0.54 net carbs.

          It's ALWAYS a good idea (plan) to check a label that says 0 with another source.

              Well, love777, I commend you for your good works...too bad they don't treat their volunteers a little better!

              As far as a dipping sauce, how about some mayo, sour cream, and a "little" seasoning like garlic powder. I usually do 2 parts mayo to 1 part sour cream.

              Maybe 3 TAB mayo to 1.5 TAB s cream. Dash of seasoning, mix, dip, and enjoy.

                is a mayo dip really better than some hot sauce? they both would have some sort of carb right?

                  It would be a taste preference.

                  There's no reason not to have either ... the point was that both have carbs.

                  Remember, Atkins isn't "no" carb!

                    I really wish they would change that law that allows them to have zero carbs (or zero whatever) on the label. It does consumers NO favors when they have more than the label's serving size. Those fractional carbs (or whatever) add up to substantial carbs then.

                    Why can't they just print accurate labels? Well, I know why but it's just not right.

                      It is funny with those labels.
                      You can also say that a product has zero calories if the calories are under 5. So you have products coming out with claims that they are calorie free but in reality they have reduced the portion size to virtually nothing so they can claim this. And some people (calorie counters) will think these are free foods and super indulge.

                        The mayo dip and hot sauce are two different subjects.

                        The mayo dip suggestion I gave was an answer to your request for dipping sauce. I didn't say it had no carbs.

                        The hot sauce discussion was about the ingredients and if and how many carbs were in the hot sauce so that the carb content could be determined.
